Rishabh Pant went past 3,000 Test runs in this innings while batting at No. 5 or lower.

Since 2018, he is only the third batter to achieve this, after Ben Stokes and Travis Head. He has been a run-bank for India in the lower-middle order.

Rishabh Pant has taken a single and lost his shoe. What is he doing out there?

  3. Ind 450-5published at 106 overs

Ravindra Jadeja is the new batter, and he'll start at the non-striker's end while Josh Tongue replaces Shoaib Bashir.

Pant attempts another falling ramp from Tongue's first delivery, but ends up sending the ball to mid-wicket off the toe of his bat.

Jadeja gets off the mark from his first delivery, sending the ball down the ground for a single, before Pant brings up India's 450 with a final ball run into the covers, managing to lose his shoe while running to the other end.

This is the first time in Test cricket history that the top six have got three hundreds and two ducks.

Brilliant, athletic catch from Pope. But that is Ben Stokes. He makes batters do different things. He lured him into a loose cover drive and what a cracking catch that was.

A brilliant catch from Ollie Pope! England needed a moment of brilliance and they have made one become two.

'Brilliant catch!' - Pope makes one handed grab at extra cover to dismiss Nair for a duck

Ask and you shall receive, Chris.

A spectacular catch from Ollie Pope to dismiss Karun Nair for a four-ball duck, leaping in the air at short extra cover to snaffle an aerial drive.

Nair had come on strike after Pant had pulled a four and then cut a single to point, and was almost out two balls earlier, chopping the ball down and seeing it loop over his wicket.

I hope a couple more Indian batters get out for single figure scores. Not for England's sake, but mainly so Sai Sudharsan doesn't feel totally left out on his debut...

As a spinner, you are annoyed that your keeper has not taken that. It's only maybe the flying bat that could have distracted him.

That would have been a stumping if Smith had taken that ball cleanly! That could be costly.

  12. Missed stumpingpublished at 104 overs

    Ind 442-4

Should be gone from the following delivery!

Pant flails at Bashir's ball and his bat goes flying over his shoulder.

Maybe that's enough to distract Jamie Smith, who fails to collect the ball cleanly and stump the India wicketkeeper.

Pant survives on 124, and adds a single from the final delivery of the over to retain the strike.

    Big!

Pant hammers Bashir's first ball deep into the stands with a slog sweep.

The catch in the crowd is taken cleanly by a steward - top work.

Pant doesn't score off the first four balls of Stokes' over but then unleashes at the fifth, firing the ball for four through mid-off.

In comes new batter Karun Nair, playing his first Test since one against Australia in Dharamsala in March 2017.

The 33-year-old, playing in his seventh Test, blocks the final delivery of the over.

What a first Test match as captain. To score that hundred, he will be very pleased.

And out of nowhere, Shubman Gill's innings is over.

The India captain lifts the ball off his legs out to backward square, where Josh Tongue doesn't have to move to take the catch.

A superb knock, but Gill may be disappointed with how it ended.
