Birmingham Phoenix need more than 100 runs from the next 56 balls so match-ups are going to be really crucial now, specifically which batters are going to take on which bowlers.

They have to find the next gear here. Emma Lamb hasn't got off to a flyer on 23 runs from 16 balls, so she needs to find that second and even third gear to allow Ellyse Perry to play her game.

Ryana MacDonald-Gay back into the attack and Emma Lamb squeezes her third delivery past backward point for four.

That's her second four of the innings.

Time-out done, a couple of singles finish Tash Farrant's first set of five balls.

There was surely only one message in the intermission - boundaries required.

Emma Lamb is on 17 from 13 balls, Ellyse Perry on 16 from seven with Phoenix closing on needing two runs a ball.

  4. Phoenix 58-2published at 62 balls left

    117 runs needed

Tash Farrant comes into the attack and Emma Lamb welcomes her with a pull to the mid-wicket boundary for four.

With two balls remaining in the set, Phoenix choose to take a strategic time-out.

I'm a little bit surprised that Ellyse Perry didn't bat at three. She could've got in there during the powerplay because this is a world-class batting line-up.

Chasing over 170 runs, I would've thought your best players have to face the early balls.

  6. Phoenix 51-2published at 65 balls left

    124 runs needed

A solid set of five from the veteran Marizanne Kapp, conceding just four singles.

An Emma Lamb push to mid-wicket brings up Phoenix's fifty, but they can ill afford all that long without boundaries.

You have to go absolutely ballistic in the powerplay, regardless of how many wickets you lose.

If you don't get yourselves off to a flyer, chasing this type of run total, you aren't going to make up for it in the middle overs. It becomes more and more difficult as the game goes on.

  9. Phoenix 47-2published at 70 balls left

    128 runs needed

A bit of an upping of the tempo for Birmingham Phoenix, starting and ending Sophia Smale's set with boundaries.

Ellyse Perry hits the spinner through long-off, before Emma Lamb picks up her first four of the innings over the covers.

  10. Phoenix 35-2published at 75 balls left

    140 runs needed

New batter Ellyse Perry ends the powerplay on a positive note for Birmingham Phoenix, striking Wellington over the ropes at mid-wicket.

Invincibles were 54-0 at this stage of their innings.

A brilliant catch from Sophia Smale! She has taken an absolute worldie there.

That ball was hit incredibly hard but she just moved so well and so quickly. You would've thought that was going for four, but she had different ideas.

Birmingham Phoenix are in a bit of trouble here.

But this time Sophia Smale holds on!

The young spinner runs to her right at mid-off to take the catch that removes Marie Kelly, having dropped her three balls earlier.

One ball to go in the powerplay, Invincibles very much in the ascendancy.

Birmingham Phoenix need it to be raining fours and sixes to get them back into this game!

Georgia Voll tried, with her 22 runs off 14 balls, but it has been difficult since then.

  14. dropped catch

Kelly dropped on onepublished at 79 balls left

    Phoenix 31-1

    Difficult chance!

Marie Kelly shifts to the off side and tries to tonk Amanda-Jade Wellington over mid-off.

She doesn't quite get hold of it but Sophia Smale can't hold on running back, and the batters take two runs.

  15. Phoenix 29-1published at 80 balls left

    146 runs needed

Marie Kelly comes in at three for Birmingham Phoenix.

She immediately takes a single square to offer Emma Lamb some strike.

But now Georgia Voll's domination of the strike comes to an end!

The Australian opener faced 15 of the first 17 balls and from the last of those she's dismissed rather softly.

Marizanne Kapp sends down a short delivery and Voll helps the ball into the hands of a juggling Amanda-Jade Wellington with a casual pull shot.

  18. Phoenix 24-0published at 85 balls left

    151 runs needed

Having faced all five of Kapp's deliveries, Georgia Voll takes every ball from Ryana MacDonald-Gay as well.

She adds two further fours, driving through the covers and then lashing a cut to the ropes at backward point.

It is a tough field for Marizanne Kapp to bowl to and I'm not entirely sure what she is trying to do or where she is trying to bowl.

It doesn't look like there are many options for her out there right now, but it looks like they are going to change things now.
