India wouldn't complain, if I were them I'd be doing rain dances in the dressing room! Because this is their toughest fixture - if they get through, they'll be strong favourites against South Africa.

But going out because of weather would feel unsatisfactory. It happened in the women's World Cup in 2020 and it didn't have a great feel about it.

It'll be a great game, but it all depends on when and how long we get out there for.

India and England will both be coming into it with plenty of confidence - India after they thrashed Australia and England after a very comprehensive performance against the USA.

It does drain quickly here so if and when it does stop raining, it won't take too long before the players can get out there.

It's a shame because this has the feel of a really exciting game between two heavyweights.

Anyway, Test Match Special doesn't need live cricket and the team are on air right now. You can listen at the top of this page or on BBC Sounds.

When we do get cracking, we'll have in-play highlights and clips, too.

Once played a game, reached a wonderful if not lucky ton, dropped 4 times. Finished the game went to watch brother finish his game. Sat in clubhouse, winning 6 from the away team, hit concrete outside clubhouse smashed window and knocked me out.

England have been kicking a football about on the outfield, but the bad news is that is has started to rain again. Covers are going back on.

A few of you have asked what happens if it's a complete washout.

India go through because of their better record in the Super 8s.

    Don't shoot the messenger.

Not going to moan about the reserve day (much!). The later this game starts, the more I can listen back on the drive home from Newbury to Birmingham before my partner hands our 4 month old baby over to me, so if we can get going around 6pm that would be lovely.

Heavy showers and possible thunderstorms are likely early on Thursday in Georgetown, but it looks like the risk of showers will gradually diminish through the day.

Temperatures will peak around 30C, with a gentle easterly breeze, but the humidity will make it feel closer to 40C.

Will this be delayed long enough to allow enough time to get Louis Kimber on a flight out to Guyana?

The run out? I was at the non-striker's end. Partner pushed to short cover and set off.

Yes, I should have said no, but it was a bit of a blur. I was out by about half the pitch.

Am I bitter? Yes. Have I forgiven Paddy? No.

Bottom line, settle in, because we might be a while.

Come on, keep me company. What shall we talk about?

    Text, tweet or WhatsApp me.

I'll allow some moaning about the reserve day, but not lots. There's nothing we can do about it now. Like how I got run out by half a pitch length on Tuesday night. Nothing I can do now.

There's quite a lot of water on the covers at the moment. There are white and blue sheets covering the square and run-ups, but not the lush outfield. The groundstaff have just gone to the middle to start mopping up.

Right, I'm not going to get into the why and wherefores of the lack of reserve day for this match. There isn't one. It's suboptimal.

But, there are an extra 250 minutes to get this game complete. A minimum of 10 overs a side are required. We don't need to start until about 21:40 BST. Plenty of time, I reckon.

  15. Toss delayedpublished at 15:03 27 June

OK, let's start with the bad news. The pitch is under cover and the toss will be delayed.

The good news? It looks to have stopped raining, the sky is blue and we've got all day to get this done.

Yep, just recently England have got pretty used to getting to semi-finals of World Cups.

Their record is decent, too. Since 1983, England have played in seven World Cup semi-finals (T20 or 50-over) and won six of them.

Today? Well, this is a shot at a fourth T20 World Cup final and another step towards defending the title they won two years ago in Australia.

There's just the small matter of India and the Guyana weather to beat.
