Summary

  1. Postpublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 26 June

    Worcs 212 & 232-7 v Surrey 490

Dan Lawrence gives Ben Allison too much room and he carves it away square for four.

Jordan Clark replaces James Taylor at the other end and his first over yields just a single.

  2. Postpublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 26 June

    Middlesex v Derbys 35-1 - target 397

Henry Brookes replaces Ryan Higgins from the Nursery End and starts his spell with a no ball overstepping.

But he draws a thick outside edge from David Lloyd, pushing into the off side, where the ball lands safely.

He gets a single to deep point and Brooke Guest defends.

Time for a drinks break. It's about 25 degrees out there.

  3. Postpublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 26 June

    Nottinghamshire 360 & 245-1 v Somerset 470

Ben Slater edges Jack Leach just past Craig Overton's outstretched left paw for four, he is into the 90s but he has looked rather uncomfortable at times this morning.

To the untrained eye you may feel Olly Stone the established batter>Slater here.

Miggy Pretorius gets another thick edge from Stone but again it is down and one run.

  4. Postpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 26 June

    Leics 230-7 - target 464

Goodness, Louis Kimber is in a hurry.

Off-spinner Jack Carson continues and the Leicestershire batter deposits two successive sixes into the crowd.

He has 70 not out from 51 balls and that is a 50 partnership with Ben Cox.

  5. Postpublished at 12:00 British Summer Time 26 June

    Glam 490 v Northants 279 & 293-4

It's been a good opening hour for Northamptonshire on the final day in Cardiff.

They resumed just 25 ahead with six wickets in hand and they've extended that advantage to 82 with no further loss.

Wicketkeeper Lewis McManus has gone to an 83-ball fifty and with his captain Luke Procter, on 69, the pair are frustrating Glamorgan who are hoping to force a second win of the season.

  6. Postpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 26 June

    Warwks 254 & 78-2 v Hants 298 & 453-6 declared

I have not reported on a wicket in either of my matches since the very first over at the Bowl.

Keith Barker has had hands on heads a couple of times, but never that close to getting a breakthrough in truth.

The two Dans still batting, the draw still the favourite here with another 55 overs until the next new ball.

  7. First bowl of day for Robinsonpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 26 June

    Leics 215-7 - target 464

Louis Kimber has handed out some harsh treatment to the Sussex spinners.

He may have to rein it in a little bit now England seam bowler Ollie Robinson is into the attack.

Good initial over - apart from a no-ball. Not a sniff of a boundary.

  8. Postpublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 26 June

    Kent 244 & 177-7 v Lancs 549-9 dec

Lancashire have turned to the spin of Luke Wells, bowling to a slip and a forward short leg.

Charlie Stobo defends on the front foot to see out the over.

Nathan Lyon has switched to the Pavilion End and Matt Parkinson sweeps the second ball to deep square for one.

Charlie Stobo takes no such risks and gets well forward to block.

  9. Postpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 26 June

    Nottinghamshire 360 & 238-1 v Somerset 470

I should credit one of my colleagues on this live text comms who may not be able to tell Hampshire's Fletcha and Gloucestershire's Ed Middleton apart, but did predict Olly Stone runs from the outset of this game.

Well, he just keeps on plundering them as Ben Slater is increasingly patient still on 89* after another Jack Leach maiden, could he raise his bat for 50 before Slater reaches his ton?

212 balls to Slater, 53 to Stone for his 33*.

  10. Postpublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 26 June

    Middlesex v Derbys 29-1 - target 397

Ethan Bamber replaces Toby Roland-Jones from the Pavilion End.

The last ball of his first over is leg side and clipped away by Brooke Guest for one.

A steady start for Derbyshire, though there was of course the early loss of Luis Reece and an edge through the slips by Brooke Guest this morning.

  11. Postpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 26 June

    Nottinghamshire 360 & 238-1 v Somerset 470

I was just recording a video for County Cricket Natters' talking points bigging up Miggy Pretorius' improved performances for Somerset after his horror Durham stint.

Then he bowls a short and wide one and a full and wide one, punched for four then edged for four by Olly Stone.

The second nowhere near going to hand but nothing like as convincing as Stone's first boundary of the two.

Last ball driven through mid-on for four for good measure.

When a usual number nine or 10 is playing shots like these you just feel like giving up as a bowler!

  12. wicket

WICKET Taylor c Burns b Lawrence 2published at 11:49 British Summer Time 26 June

    Worcs 212 & 225-7 v Surrey 490

Dan Lawrence switches to round the wicket at the start of his second over.

Tom Taylor plays for some spin, but there is none and it takes the outside edge, with Rory Burns taking a good low catch at first slip.

Ben Allison comes in with Worcestershire still 53 behind.

  13. Postpublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 26 June

    Kent 244 & 168-7 v Lancs 549-9 dec

Three close fielders in for Nathan Lyon as Matt Parkinson blocks out the over.

He scored his first runs of his 30th ball faced in the previous over, flicking a leg side ball from George Balderson fine.

  14. Postpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 26 June

    Warwks 254 & 71-2 v Hants 298 & 453-6 declared

An early drinks break on the costa-del-Southampton.

It is hot, but I thought they would wait another 14 minutes until an hour is up before a drinks break.

Two fours off Kyle Abbott's latest over.

No turn to spin yet, Muhammad Abbas taking over from Keith Barker.

  15. 50 runs

50 for Louis Kimberpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 26 June

    Louis KimberImage source, Rex Features

Jack Carson is too full and wide and Louis Kimber cracks it through the covers to reach 50 off just 37 balls.

It's only his second half-century of the season and he celebrates by hoisting another six towards a hospitality marquee, the third of his innings so far.

  16. Postpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 26 June

    Worcs 212 & 225-6 v Surrey 490

Change of approach by Surrey as Dan Lawrence is called up for his first bowl of the morning.

Two short legs in place for Tom Taylor. This will be a test of patience for Worcestershire batter.

  17. Postpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 26 June

    Essex 46-2 (Target: 433) v Durham

Just two runs in almost seven overs for Essex as Durham lay siege at Chelmsford with Matty Potts and Callum Parkinson.

Tom Westley is finally off the mark to his 19th ball to break a run of 27 deliveries with no score.

Dean Elgar still there on 28 and he is likely to be key to steering Essex to safer waters.

    A long time to go.

  18. Postpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 26 June

    Nottinghamshire 360 & 226-1 v Somerset 470

Olly Stone has not faced Jack Leach much this morning, that single first ball comfortably taken, and he does the same thing again, two off two balls from the test spinner for Stone.

Surely already this has to be one of Stone's highest amount of runs in a first-class match, one to research and keep tabs on there.

  19. ouch!

Postpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 26 June

    Middlesex v Derbys 25-1 - target 397

David Lloyd pushes Toby Roland-Jones carefully to mid off to see out the over - and Derbyshire need to negotiate 86 more to draw.

Ryan Higgins bowls to Brooke Guest who appears to have been hit in an awkward spot between the pads.

A little pause in proceedings here...

  20. Kimber on the attackpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 26 June

    Sussex 201-7 - target 464

Louis Kimber was dropped on 17 and Sussex must be regretting that now.

Two sixes - both over mid-wicket - and two fours as Jack Carson's latest over costs him 20.

The score passes 200 and Kimber is 46 not out.
