Summary

  1. Postpublished at 11:41 26 June

    Kent 244 & 164-7 v Lancs 549-9 dec

The new ball will be due in 18 overs if needed, so there could be a very testing passage of play just before lunch if we get that far.

George Balderson is in the attack, conceding just a single off his first over of the day.

Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon has also joined the attack, bowling to a slip and forward short leg.

Charlie Stobo is back and pushing into the on side for one.

Matt Parkinson sees out the over and remains on nought after 26 balls.

  2. Postpublished at 11:41 26 June

    Worcs 212 & 225-6 v Surrey 490

Adam Hose is Worcestershire's sole remaining senior batter, and therefore the man to try and blunt this Surrey attack.

But he is almost gone there as Sean Abbott finds the edge, but it is wide of first slip and runs away for four.

Ollie Pope moves a little wider of keeper Ben Foakes.

  3. Postpublished at 11:40 26 June

    Nottinghamshire 360 & 212-1 v Somerset 470

Two boundaries taken off Jack Leach's latest over, Olly Stone onto 18* and Ben Slater onto 82* as we have another delay, this time for a dressing room door left open behind the bowlers arm.

For those of you worrying, the two changing rooms are on different floors at Trent Bridge, and Jake Ball has not on autopilot yet walked into the wrong changing room on his return to his home of many years.

But after a few more overs in the heat you never know he may change that as the day wears on!

  4. Postpublished at 11:38 26 June

    Sussex 187-7 - target 464

Louis Kimber is certainly not afraid to go for his shots.

He heaves Jack Carson over mid-wicket for six and has 32 not out off 32 balls.

  5. Postpublished at 11:37 26 June

    Middlesex v Derbys 23-1 - target 397

An awkward start for Brooke Guest as he is forward to block Ryan Higgins and edges between first and second slip for four.

His next stroke is a far more convincing back foot drive through cover point off the net ball for four more.

It does feel a matter of when rather than if for Middlesex.

But should Derbyshire escape with a draw, there will be questions asked about the wisdom of batting on for just shy of 80 overs in the second innings.

  6. Postpublished at 11:37 26 June

    Warwks 254 & 62-2 v Hants 298 & 453-6 declared

Not much happening on the south coast, Danny Briggs and Dan Mouseley up to the challenge of the Hants' attack so far.

I have never, nor heard others refer to him as Dan Briggs, but maybe I will cheekily try this morning and see if anyone complains regarding the two Dans...

  7. Stobo wears one for the teampublished at 11:34 26 June

    Kent 244 & 162-7 v Lancs 549-9 dec

Matt Parkinson is solidly forward to Will Williams, defending with the full face of the bat to see out the 60th over of the innings.

Charlie Stobo ducks under a Tom Bailey bouncer and the ball glances off his shoulder for four leg byes. Ouch.

Stobo moves to 30 with a single pushed through the off side on the front foot.

  8. 200 up for Nottspublished at 11:31 26 June

    Nottinghamshire 360 & 200-1 v Somerset 470

Shot of the morning so far and it is from Olly Stone!

Straight driving Craig Overton beautifully past him for four.

His opportunity here summed up nicely by Notts commentator Dave Bracegirdle:

"He came in as nightwatchman but he can bat all day if he wants."

  9. 'Beautifully bowled by Coles'published at 11:30 26 June

    Sussex 442 & 296-6 dec v Leics 275 & 175-7

    Richard Rae
    BBC Radio Leicester Sport

Beautifully bowled by James Coles. He drew Mulder half forward and the ball drifted on with the arm.

  10. Postpublished at 11:27 26 June

    Warwks 254 & 56-2 v Hants 298 & 453-6 declared

Hampshire drew their first two games of the season in Southampton. They were against Lancashire and Warwickshire.

But that shock demolition of Surrey before the Blast break made County fans think it will not just be a drawn match pitch all season...can James Vince's men buck the draw trend today?

After play last night captain Vince told BBC Radio Solent:

"The wicket has lost a bit of zip but there are signs of a few maybe going up and hopefully a few staying down tomorrow so we are going to have to run in and hit the pitch hard to create the nine chances we need."

Still Keith Barker and Kyle Abbott doing the 'hit the pitch hard' job, but with no John Turner in this one there is a lack of pace in this Hants attack with all four seamers past 30 years of age and never having been rapid.

James Fuller, Muhammad Abbas and two spinners not helping that line at all.

James Coles strikes again, his second wicket of the morning.

Wiaan Mulder was one of Leicestershire's best hopes of an escape act at Hove, but now he's gone.

  12. WICKET Reece c sub (Andersson) b Higgins 5published at 11:26 26 June

    Middlesex v Derbys 15-1 - target 397

Ryan Higgins takes a wicketImage source, Rex Features

A bit of luck for Luis Reece on one not out as he's forward to Toby Roland-Jones with bat close to bat with an edged defensive shot wide of the slips for four.

Ryan Higgins continues from the Nursery End and oversteps.

The no ball is pushed through cover by David Lloyd for a single.

But now Luis Reece is out.

It's a full length ball which Reece shapes to nudge to leg and he gets a leading edge to sub fielder Martin Andersson in the covers.

We have slips, a gully, silly mid on, silly mid off and a point in place.

Good morning, Brooke Guest - who is in next.

  13. Dropped catchpublished at 11:26 26 June

    Leics 171-6 - target 464

Louis Kimber tries to cut a ball from Jack Carson that spins back from outside off stump and a thick edge flies past first slip for four.

We wouldn't be too hard to the fielder there - it was up by his left shoulder and he had no time to react.

  14. Stone the burgeoning allrounder?published at 11:24 26 June

    Nottinghamshire 360 & 196-1 v Somerset 470

Olly Stone nearly matched his first-class best of 90 in the first innings remember, but Craig Overton caught him off Migael Pretorius for 83.

The catcher now bowling at him draws an outside edge from a back of a length delivery, but it loops safely between slip and point.

I talked of him replacing Stuart Broad, well his batting certainly looks better than his recent Notts and England colleague's did in recent years.

He is into double figures already this morning and looked comfortable bar that one edge.

  15. Postpublished at 11:22 26 June

    Kent 244 & 155-7 v Lancs 549-9 dec

Charlie Stobo strokes Will Williams to backward point for a single.

Unsurprisingly, the Canterbury ground is sparsely populated this morning and may indeed be deserted by late afternoon.

Matt Parkinson drives and misses, then gets squared up defending down the ground as the ball seems to skid on a little.

  16. WICKET: Porter b Potts 3published at 11:21 26 June

    Essex 43-2 (Target: 433) v Durham

Jamie Porter did his job yesterday as nightwatchman, surviving 12 deliveries.

He lasted 12 more on this final morning but Matty Potts has cleaned him up.

A perfect delivery seams in a fraction and takes the top of off stump.

Porter, feet rooted in the crease, flashed at it and missed.

    An early settler for Durham.

  17. Will Warwickshire go for it?published at 11:20 26 June

    Warwks 254 & 54-2 v Hants 298 & 453-6 declared

Assess at lunch seems the likely short answer, here is what we heard after play last night.

Warwickshire captain Alex Davies told BBC CWR:

"We always talk about trying to win games, we want to win every game we play, but we'll see how we go in the first session and assess it from there.

"There is one short boundary but the priority must be to bat the first two sessions and keep ourselves in the game and then, if we have a sniff of winning later on with some wickets in hand, you can be sure we'll be going for it."

  18. Postpublished at 11:20 26 June

    Leics 163-6 - target 464

Captain Lewis Hill promised that Leicestershire would be positive, but how wise a shot is the reverser sweep in these circumstances?

Louis Kimber times that one well, though, and picks up four runs off Jack Carson.

  19. Postpublished at 11:17 26 June

    Warwks 254 & 51-2 v Hants 298 & 453-6 declared

Kyle Abbott got the key breakthrough of Alex Davies with his first ball yesterday.

He starts alongside Keith Barker with the ball for Warwickshire this morning, and the new bat Dan Mousley is surprisingly watchful, a maiden over.

Mouseley, a young, aggressive primarily white ball all-rounder, is giving himself a chance here, knowing runs will flow freely if he can get through this opening burst and once he gets his eye in here.

  20. Postpublished at 11:16 26 June

    Essex 42-1 (Target: 433) v Durham

Essex fans looking for an early omen would have been buoyed by the first ball of the day going for four.

But it was an awkward delivery for Dean Elgar that lifted a fraction from Jamie Porter and took a glove down the leg side to the fine leg fence.

An streaky boundary also came in the second over of the morning as Callum Parkinson got one to bounce and turn into Elgar and runs were given as the ball zipped past the inside edge and past the wicketkeeper.

So actually some early encouragement for Durham.
