From a Yorkshire perspective George Hill and James Wharton or Finlay Bean. For white ball, Jafer Chohan. Probably the natural successor to Rashid.

Would love to see Archie Vaughan get a chance early on! Watched him at Taunton last week, looks like a very good player!

    Joe from Devon

Does decapped James Anderson count as uncapped?

As ever people dive for various weather apps in these situations. I've seen one that suggests a decent chunk of rain will come just before 2pm. It is much brighter now but rain is still falling.

Tom Haines has been doing very well at the top of the order for Sussex over the past couple of seasons, and with the Lions. Deserves a shot.

    Dan in Eastbourne

Daniel Bell-Drummond - he’s been playing better than Crawley at Kent for a long time now, and is in form at the moment with a 150 against Northants the other week.

Very biased Worcestershire fan here, but I would've liked to see Jake Libby and Brett D'Oliveira given a go.

    Bring her along, Tony.

My grandma actually played an integral part in our games of cricket on the drive.

She had accidentally left a footprint in the concrete which had a wicked effect on the ball if you could hit it.

I would like to nominate my Grandma as opening bowler... a little bit of arthritis and an early cataract, but otherwise in as good a shape as current bowling attack and much more motivated.

Still no movement from the covers at Edgbaston.

Here are the highlights from day four.

Remember, England need 536 runs for an unlikely win. India need seven wickets to level the series.

I don't think it's completely inconceivable that we see a different attack from England in the next Test.

(Re 10:57) I’m definitely an all-rounder. I bat every bit as ably as I bowl.

Sounds good to me, Edward! The ultimate utility player.

For anyone just joining us and expecting to read about England's fourth innings... it's raining at Edgbaston. The covers are on but the groundsteam are scurrying about.

As soon as we hear anything about the restart, you'll be the first to know.

In the meantime, we're discussing uncapped players we'd like to see in an England shirt and dreaming of hot mince pies.

Rain stopped play here too - in Arusha, Tanzania - which is fine as someone has brought out a tray of hot mince pies!

I think Jack Carson from Sussex is probably a better spinner than Shoaib Bashir but there's clearly something about him that this set-up likes. It's probably to do with his character.

An uncapped player I’d like to see given a go, or at least looked at, is Ben Kellaway from Glamorgan. If Bashir & Ahmed can get a call up & play…

    Paul in Swansea

Has got a couple of ODI caps but Sam Hain deserves far more chances than he has had. Not complaining as a Bear but feels like he has been hard done by, particularly for Tests.

    Scott in Redditch

Alex Davies, a little bit just to see him and Duckett be the shortest opening pair in Tests but also because I think he’d suit this team.

The TV pictures from Edgbaston are... slightly encouraging? It's looking a little brighter and raindrops are no longer dripping down the lens at speed. However, the start has been delayed.

To raise our spirits, here are some highlights of Rishabh Pant's thoroughly entertaining 65 (58) which boundaries galore and even a couple of flying bats.

The longer it rains, the more likely it is that this match is heading for a draw. If that happens, England will arrive at Lord's on Thursday with their 1-0 lead intact.

Plenty of you were getting in touch yesterday with changes you'd like to see to England's XI for the third Test. However, my favourite message was one suggesting that Darren Stevens would've taken wickets on this Edgbaston pitch.

Which got me thinking... which uncapped players would you like/have liked to see in an England shirt? Get in touch via the usual channels!

The concern for India isn't that they may not have enough time to get England out, it's the conditions. When the ball's gone soft, because the pitch is as flat as a pancake it's been doing absolutely nothing. If they do get out there, the ball will be all soppy. When it is wet, when you try and shine it nothing happens, it just goes kind of furry.

So the early theme of today is... rain.

I'm currently tearing up all of my carefully planned build-up, which was perfectly timed for exactly 30 minutes until play began. Oh well.

    What should we talk about?
