As a certain Durham bowler pops into your feed, I'll send more Mark Wood content down the pitch.

At lunch today Test Match Special will host 'Life in the Fast Lane' with the England seamer taking questions on pace bowling.

So why not send in your queries? If you could stick #FastLane in your messages, that'll help us find them.

I don't think Gus Atkinson would've been ready to go for this match, if he was ready he would've played. It gives Brydon Carse one match to give it a go and then have a rest after this Test.

  3. Eng 15-0published at 7 overs

Another maiden for Jasprit Bumrah, but a quieter one as Ben Duckett fends away the India seamer.

After the first three overs I thought this was going to be an absolute road, but now it's starting to nip a bit.

The ball on the back of the length is just nipping. The first morning of a Test match in England, it will do a little bit and England need to get through the first hour or so.

England just need to get through the first 10 overs of the day and this pitch will become a road.

  6. Eng 15-0published at 6 overs

Maiden over for Akash Deep bowling to Zak Crawley and a lot going on in the second half of the over.

The England opener suddenly dances down and misses a big waft of a shot, then drives just short of Washington Sundar at a short-ish cover.

He then shuffles across his crease a little and Deep's inswinger passes just over the leg stump.

That boundary from Ben Duckett was played with a lot more conviction than what we've seen from the last few overs. Lovely shot.

  8. Eng 15-0published at 5 overs

    Oooof.

Jasprit Bumrah lands his second delivery in a location where, shall we say, Ben Duckett would not wish for it to be landed.

The England opener drops his bat and walks it off, but is eventually OK to continue and picks up two with a shot into the covers, then four driving wide of long-off.

There is a curious pattern - only once since 1988 has a team won the second and third Test in a long series in England.

Don't worry Barney (10.55), we could yet have a Bazball chase to look forward to. Just need to build a monster first innings total, take 10 quick wickets and enforce the follow-on...

Stokes' master plan: huge first innings score, bowl India out cheaply, make them follow on and then chase down the target. Simple.

The India opening bowlers are just finding their range a bit now.

  12. Eng 9-0published at 4 overs

In fairness, Abs, while both bowlers have been given a lot of attention going into this Test, I'm not sure if there's been much comparison going on - I think people expect Archer to be a bit rusty.

Meanwhile Akash Deep bowls a maiden over to Zak Crawley. His first delivery shapes away nicely from the England opener, while the penultimate one clips the batter's pocket, exciting the slips but not bowler or wicketkeeper.

Morning, not sure about the Archer v Bumrah billing, Bumrah has proven his worth consistently over the past few years, Archer only bowled 18 overs in county over the last few years. Surely no comparison there.

    Abs

  14. Ind 9-0published at 3 overs

    Ominous signs from Jasprit Bumrah.

He beats the bat of Ben Duckett with successive deliveries, first sending the ball past his outside edge and then cutting between body and willow.

It's beautifully poised at 1-1. I think India have had the better of the two Test matches, though.

  16. Eng 8-0published at 2 overs

Akash Deep comes in round the wicket to bowl at Ben Duckett - he dismissed the England opener in both innings at Edgbaston, caught at slip and then chopped on.

Duckett takes two through backward square, then works the game's first boundary round the corner.

  17. Eng 2-0published at 1 over

Duckett knocks the next ball towards the covers for his first run of the match, before Crawley defends the final ball of the over.

Akash Deep will take the ball at the other end - he took 10 wickets at Edgbaston, how will he fare in his first outing at Lord's?

That was genuine, that. It should've been taken. It is notoriously tricky here for the stumpers.

There's that little bit of movement from Jasprit Bumrah already.

  19. Eng 1-0published at 0.4 overs

    Didn't carry!

A bye gets England off the mark and brings Ben Duckett on strike, and the Nottinghamshire batter is almost out from his first delivery.

Jasprit Bumrah finds his edge, but the ball drops just short of a diving Rishabh Pant.

Very good point made by Gill, if there is going to be anything in this pitch it will be this morning. Stokes should’ve stuck to his guns and had a bowl.
