Can I just say England have some of the best slip catchers in world cricket, Brook, Crawley and Root, I think our superb slip cordon goes unrecognised.

We're seeing a very different first innings than we've seen in the rest of the series. Out of all the team's first innings, the lowest score at the fall of the sixth wicket was 271 before today.

That was the only time it's fallen before 300.

  3. Ind 163-6published at 51 overs

Jamie Overton's overs are always action-packed.

He had two big appeals, one of which unsuccessfully reviewed, and was struck for two boundaries. 10 off the over.

  4. Not outpublished at 50.5 overs

It's missing Karun Nair's leg stump. It wasn't close.

    It's nipped down leg side.

  6. England reviewpublished at 50.5 overs

Jamie Overton goes up again. He wants Karun Nair lbw.

The umpire shakes his head. Ollie Pope sends it upstairs.

  7. Ind 163-6published at 50.4 overs

Jamie Overton contorts his face. He gives half an appeal for caught behind against Karun Nair but neither he nor Jamie Smith presents a convincing argument to captain Ollie Pope.

Nair responds with two fours, one clipped off his legs, the other through gully.

The heavy downpour here in Reading right now doesn't give much confidence that we shall have much more play if it gets to The Oval. Let's enjoy it now while it lasts for the day.

India would bite your hand off to reach 230 at this point.

  10. Ind 153-6published at 50 overs

Washington Sundar, who scored a century in the second innings at Old Trafford, dots out the remainder of the over.

Gus Atkinson has figures of 2-23 from his 16 overs. Far and away England's best bowler today.

England are gradually chipping away and, in their eyes, they will be trying to stop India getting 200.

It was short and wide. It's jagged back and it's cramped Dhruv Jurel. It wasn't there to be played.

It's a really good catch from Harry Brook at second slip.

Atkinson takes Jurel wicket after initial lbw dismissal overturned on previous ball

One ball after being handed his lbw lifeline, Dhruv Jurel is walking back to the pavilion.

He's been caught at second slip by Harry Brook for 19. Great catch by Brook and a lovely ball by Gus Atkinson to restrict the batter.

We've seen a few of those in this series when the batter doesn't play a shot. When you play no shot you cause yourself some problems and it's overturned.

  15. Not outpublished at 49.2 overs

    It's missing off stump.

The umpire overturns his decision. Dhruv Jurel, who didn't play a shot, survives.

    I don't think it's hitting the stumps.

  17. India reviewpublished at 49.2 overs

Dhruv Jurel has been given out lbw.

The umpire's finger went up quickly. Jurel reviewed immediately.

  18. Ind 153-5published at 49 overs

Dhruv Jurel dinks the ball up and over the slips for four to wake everyone up after drinks.

Jamie Overton, collar up, finds a bit of movement later in the over but Jurel is relatively untroubled and finishes with a single.

    Thanks Matt.

Blue skies over The Oval at the moment but someone in Harrow has been in touch to say it's pouring down there.

I'll do my best not to summon anymore rain.

I feel like you've probably heard enough from me today. Elizabeth Botcherby, who did a lot of rain chat earlier and not a lot of cricket, will take you to the close.
