  1. 50 runs

50 for Matt Critchleypublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 23 July

    Sussex 204 v Essex 293-4

The Essex all-rounder Matt Critchley has watched Jordan Cox (108*) put on a masterclass this morning while quietly going about his own business.

Critchley under edges a massive heave past his own stumps and down to the third man boundary.

Not the prettiest way to get to 50 but it's in the book.

  2. 50 runs

50 for Tom Hartleypublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 23 July

    Gloucestershire v Lancashire 408-8

Tom Hartley has been a bit of a forgotten man in the last 12 months, but the left-arm spinner is making a fine contribution this morning.

A nice tuck off his legs brings up a lovely half-century off 78 balls, the fourth of his first-class career.

Can he better his highest score of 73 not out?

  3. 'Sussex haven’t helped their own cause'published at 12:49 British Summer Time 23 July

    Sussex 204 v Essex 277-4

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A largely overcast morning has been lit up by a magnificent century by Jordan Cox.

Starting the day on 24, Cox has mixed solid defence with an array of attacking shots all round the wicket, and has looked in complete control.

His century contained 19 boundaries and together with Matt Critchely the pair have added over 100 for the fifth wicket.

Sussex haven’t helped their own cause with some loose bowling conceding almost five an over, but take nothing away from Cox, it’s been a high class innings.

  4. 400 up for Lancspublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 23 July

    Gloucestershire v Lancashire 404-8

Bonus points are well and truly settled but Lancashire continue to bat Gloucestershire into trouble this morning.

Chris Green brings up the 400 and moves within seven of his century as he deliciously hooks Ajeet Singh Dale into the crowd at midwicket.

That was a shot of real authority.

It also sees this partnership between Green and Tom Hartley tick over into three figures - 102 exactly.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 23 July

    Robinson b Vaughan 28 (Somerset 250 v Durham 145 & 132-7)

That is a glorious sight for any off-spin bowler.

Archie Vaughan flights one up, tempting Ollie Robinson to drive and the ball grips and turns enough to go past the bat, through the gate and onto the stumps.

    Well bowled sir.

Durham lead by 27 and have three wickets left. What time will the long drive home begin?

  6. 'A commanding display from Cox'published at 12:44 British Summer Time 23 July

    Sussex 204 v Essex 271-4

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

Jordan Cox gets to his 100 with a four and it's been an absolutely superb innings.

That's his third 100 of the season and his 11th of his first-class career.

    It's been a commanding display.

Him being back in the ranks, such a player of class coming in at four is making a huge difference.

  7. 'Probably the best innings I've seen this season'published at 12:40 British Summer Time 23 July

    Sussex 204 v Essex 271-4

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

I have to say that this is probably the best innings that I've seen this season.

I just think in terms of array of shots, beautiful timing. Jordan Cox just looks in complete control and has batted beautifully.

You have to applaud when you see batting and this is high quality.

It's just the quality of shot and also the fact that he's also defended well as well.

It's just been a very, very fine innings.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 23 July

    Mousley c Roderick b Khurram 4 (Warwickshire 4-2 v Worcestershire 333)

Well, well well, that great start for Worcestershire has just got better!

Two wickets for the Pears and two for Khurram Shahzad to leave the Bears 4-2 from 4.2 overs.

Nice bit of symmetry there for us but I'm not sure the home fans will appreciate it.

Dan Mousley departs for four with his team up against it as the visitors look to put themselves firmly in the driving seat.

  9. Leicestershire 398 all outpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 23 July

    Trevaskis b Thomson 5 (Derbys v Leics 398)

Leicestershire lose their last five wickets for 10 runs and are all out for 398.

Liam Trevaskis is bowled by Alex Thomson.

Luis Reece finishes with 6-56 from his 25 overs.

  10. 100 runs

100 for Jordan Coxpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 23 July

    Sussex 204 v Essex 271-4

Jordan Cox hits a four for EssexImage source, Rex Features

It's looked pretty inevitable since he came in and Jordan Cox goes to an 11th century in the longer format of the game.

The basic stats are 128 balls and 19 fours.

  11. Postpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 23 July

    Somerset 250 v Durham 145 & 119-6

A poor piece of fielding from Archie Vaughan as he misjudges his slide allows Ollie Robinson to pick up three.

Durham's lead is only 14 but this partnership is worth 27 after that earlier flurry of four wickets for 16 saw them slip from 76-2 to 92-6.

Still deep in peril, of course.

  12. 350 up for Nottspublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 23 July

    Hants v Notts 351-6

Lyndon James is doing a great job for Notts who are batting themselves into a very strong position.

The Notts 350 is reached with James 80 not out.

  13. 6 runs

Postpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 23 July

    Hants v Notts 346-6

A third six of the innings for Lyndon James as he deposits another one into the stands.

He moves to 76 not out - 70 of those runs have come this morning.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 23 July

    van Beek c Madsen b Reece 0 (Derbys v Leics 394-9)

    Luis ReeceImage source, Rex Features

Erm, make that six wickets for Luis Reece.

Logan van Beek is the fourth Leicestershire duck as he's caught by Wayne Madsen.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 23 July

    Yates b Khurram 0 (Warwickshire 0-1 v Worcestershire 333)

What a start for the Pears!

Warwickshire have barely started their reply and they're one down with no runs on the board as Khurram Shahzad takes the wicket of Rob Yates.

Yates, perhaps not up to speed yet so early in the innings, leaves the ball which then ploughs into his off stump - not his greatest decision.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 23 July

    Green b Reece 0 (Derbys v Leics 394-8)

Luis Reece bowls Ben GreenImage source, Rex Features

    Five wickets for Luis Reece.

He gets one through the defences of Ben Green who is bowled.

  17. Play to start at 13:00 BSTpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 23 July

    Yorkshire 282-4 v Surrey

We have good news from Scarborough.

After the latest inspection, the umpires decide that play can begin at 1pm.

We will have tea at 3.40pm, with a total of 83 overs to be bowled - a loss of 13 to the day.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 23 July

    Haynes c Organ b Abbott 103 (Hants v Notts 338-6)

    A wicket finally for Hampshire.

Kyle Abbott is the man to break this sixth wicket partnership as Jack Haynes leans back on a shot and chips the ball into the hands of Felix Organ.

The home side badly needed that.

  19. Durham leadpublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 23 July

    Somerset 250 v Durham 145 & 106-6

Graham Clark gets one away very fine down leg past both wicketkeeper and leg slip and he scampers two runs.

They are given as leg byes, but they are enough to move Durham all of two runs ahead.

Somerset will have to bat again to win this game. Probably at some point today.

  20. 'Lancashire in a strong position'published at 12:22 British Summer Time 23 July

    Gloucestershire v Lancashire 370-8

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Standing in line at Jack’s coffee van this morning, located in the shadow of one of the two chapel buildings at Cheltenham College, the local talk wasn’t just about the quality of the cakes and coffee, but concerns over James Anderson and the possibility of pitch breaking up as the game goes on.

With Gloucestershire batting last, and with the pitch already starting to show signs of turn, the talk of the festival regulars was that a score anywhere north of 350 would be a strong position for the visitors.
