A lot of the Warwickshire players shook the hand of Ethan Brookes to congratulate him who leaves for a career-best of 140.

He was very cross with himself for being out but he ought to allow himself a moment of self congratulation for the highest innings of his first-class career and he has taken full advantage of what's been available this morning.

    Well played.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 23 July

    Bedingham lbw b Leach 9 (Somerset 250 v Durham 145 & 92-6)

Jack Leach, at Taunton and with his tail up, is a very difficult proposition and David Bedingham is the latest to fall into his trap.

The South Africa batter edges the first ball of the over, but then goes back to the second and is struck on the pads.

With the previous one spinning away, the umpire's finger believes that is turning as well from leg to middle.

Leach has 4-15 and Durham are still 13 in arrears.

  9. Postpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 23 July

    Hants v Notts 323-5

Kyle Abbott returns to the Hampshire attack as they search for a first breakthrough on this second day.

Abbott is greeted by Lyndon James crashing his first ball through the covers for four.

The alarm bells may be ringing in the home dressing room.

  10. 'A very classy knock from Haynes'published at 12:09 British Summer Time 23 July

    Hants v Notts 314-5

    Michael Carberry
Former Hampshire and England batter on BBC Radio Solent

Superbly played, a very classy knock form the Notts right-hander.

That's Jack Haynes' ninth first-class century.

Very, very well played young man.

  11. Normal service resumespublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 23 July

Durham 92-6 trail Somerset by 13 runs

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

And just like that the wickets start to fall again at Taunton and it is the spinners who are taking them.

Neil Wagner and Emilio Gay had added 75 runs for the third wicket and made things look pretty straightforward, until Wagner tried to sweep a full toss from Archie Vaughan and fell LBW for 33.

Gay was out four balls later, clipping a catch to the diving Craig Overton at mid-wicket, off the bowling of Jack Leach. He departed for 42 with the score still on 76.

Only one more run was added before Colin Ackermann fell for a third-ball duck. He mistakenly chipped a ball from Leach to Tom Banton at mid-off and fell to a great diving catch. It left him with a pair from this game.

I believe this one will be over today.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Lyndon Jamespublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 23 July

    Hants v Notts 318-5

He's smacked Sonny Baker for two sixes this morning and Lyndon James is threatening something special today.

He gets to 50 from 71 balls with five fours.

  13. WORCS ALL OUT FOR 333published at 12:08 British Summer Time 23 July

    Warwickshire v Worcestershire 333

After Ethan Brookes' storming innings came to an end the Pears didn't manage to add any more to the total and finish their innings on 333.

They pick up two batting points and will be happy with that total as at times yesterday they didn't look likely to get near 300.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 23 July

    Kimber c Madsen b Reece 2 (Derbys v Leics 390-7)

It's raining wickets at Derby now.

Louis Kimber lasts only six balls before he becomes a fourth victim for Luis Reece with home skipper Wayne Madsen taking the catch.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 23 July

    Hill c Guest b Reece 151 (Derbys v Leics 388-6)

    Lewis Hill is finally out.

He gets to his 150 and is 11 runs short of equalling his career-best in first class cricket but Brooke Guest pouches a fourth catch with Luis Reece collecting a third wicket.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 23 July

    Brookes c Bamber b Mousley 140 (Warwickshire v Worcestershire 333-9)

Ethan Brookes departs with a career best score of 140.

He really cut loose after reaching a century and smashed back-to-back sixes at one point to push his side's score up towards 350.

Brookes really enjoyed that one against his old side.

  17. 100 runs

100 for Jack Haynespublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 23 July

    Hants v Notts 314-5

A ninth first-class century for Jack Haynes and how well he has batted.

Remember, Hampshire won the toss and chose to bowl but have wasted the advantage.

Haynes' 100 comes from 129 balls with 15 fours.

  18. 300 runs

300 up for Nottspublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 23 July

    Hants v Notts 309-5

The Notts fun continues and Hampshire have not looked like taking a wicket so far today - have they misjudged this pitch at the toss?

The 300 is up now and they get there in the grand manner as Lyndon James heaves Sonny Baker into the stands for six.

Baker's reply is to bowl another bouncer - six more!

  19. 'Overton made no mistake there'published at 12:01 British Summer Time 23 July

    Somerset 250 v Durham 145 & 77-5

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Emilio Gay looked to turn that ball from Jack Leach into the onside, failing to keep it down and you don't want to give Craig Overton the opportunity to take a catch.

He did drop one yesterday but he made no mistake whatsoever there.

That's a big wicket because Gay was batting very nicely.

  20. 'Odd to start with Fuller'published at 11:59 British Summer Time 23 July

    Hants v Notts 297-5

    Michael Carberry
Former Hampshire and England batter on BBC Radio Solent

Notts have played very well so far, especially Jack Haynes who has looked in very good touch.

There's been a little bit of odd captaincy from Ben Brown starting with James Fuller who let's be honest has struggled to really hit his straps this innings. Maybe another option would have been the better way to go to just build some pressure.

The key with this Kookaburra ball - especially the first 10 overs - Hampshire really should have been looking to build some pressure and they weren't able to.

It looks like it's going to be another tough day in the field for the Hampshire bowlers. There's not a lot of spin on offer either.
