  1. 50 runs

50 for Zaibpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 11 May

    Northants 238 & 189-6 (lead by 151) v Lancs 276

Saif Zaib's fine start to the season continues and a fumble at cover allows the single which bings up a 13th first class half century for the diminutive left-hander.

The Northants batter has posted centuries against both Lancs at Old Trafford and against Derbyshire at Derby this season.

The way he and Calvin Harrison are trapping along at Wantage Road (they have put on 49 this morning in 43 minutes) you would not bet against a third of the season.

  2. 'Hants still waiting for an opportunity'published at 11:38 British Summer Time 11 May

    Notts 333 & 208-6 v Hants 196

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

That's got to go down as another one on the long list of Hampshire drops in this match.

The visitors have been waiting for that first opportunity and it was nearly presented on a plate for them.

  3. dropped catch

Haynes dropped on 80published at 11:35 British Summer Time 11 May

    Notts 333 & 208-6 (lead by 345 runs) v Hants 196

Regulation catch at deep square leg and Tom Prest has spilled it.

Jack Haynes has pounced on a leg stump delivery from Kyle Abbott and sent it soaring out towards the role where Prest takes it and loses it.

Hants put a few down in the first innings and it continues to haunt them.

  4. Postpublished at 65.4 overs

    Kent 179-8 v Glamorgan 549-9 dec

If Glamorgan were hoping to knock over the last two wickets quickly and enforcing the follow-on, they are being frustrated by Chris Benjamin and George Garrett.

Kent have added 24 to their overnight total and Benjamin and Garrett now have 77 and 22 respectively.

  5. Postpublished at 39 overs

    Warks 665-5 dec v Surrey 113-1

It was balls outside off stump that so often proved Dom Sibley's undoing in Test cricket.

Just like that one from Ethan Bamber, but he gets away with a big nick which runs to third man for four. Sibley is 43 not out.

  6. 200 runs

200 up for Nottspublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 11 May

    Notts 333 & 202-6 v Hants 196

And the lead is stretched to 339 as Jack Haynes clips a leg side delivery from James Fuller for four

Batting against the old ball (this one has is 53 overs) is looking quite easy and the Notts pair have added 26 with very few scares this morning.

  7. Postpublished at 54.3 overs

    Essex 123 v Yorks 216 & 129-1

Too straight by Shane Snater and Adam Lyth glances down to fine leg for four.

In 10 days time, it will be the 10th anniversary of Lyth's Test debut for England against New Zealand at Lord's.

He made scores of seven and 12 in that game, but is doing a lot better in this innings.

Who presented him with his England cap? Andrew Strauss. Wonder where he keeps it.

  8. 50 runs

50 for Patterson-Whitepublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 11 May

    Notts 333 & 192-6 (lead by 329 runs) v Hants 196

A seventh first class half century for Liam Patterson-White is brought up with neat clip off his legs to square leg boundary for one.

It has come from 89 deliveries and has been decorated by eight fours and one which cleared the rope.

  9. Postpublished at 36.2 overs

    Warks 665-5 dec v Surrey 107-1

That is where Dom Sibley likes them.

Ethan Bamber strays onto the Surrey opener's pads and is clipped for four to mid-wicket.

The Warwickshire paceman responds with a beauty which beats the outside edge.

  10. 100 partnership for Yorkshirepublished at 52.5 overs

    Essex 123 v Yorks 261 & 123-1

Adam Lyth steers Shane Snater down to third man for the first boundary of day three at Chelmsford and that is also a 50 partnership with James Wharton.

Lyth moves on to 83 and will have his sights firmly fixed on a second hundred of the season.

  11. Lost ball!published at 11:15 British Summer Time 11 May

    Notts 333 & 185-6 v Hants 196

    VILLAGE!

Brad Wheal has bowled a huge wide which goes for four and Fletcha Middleton can't find the ball down amongst the sightscreens, covers and advertising hoardings.

A few groundsman join the search (half-heartedly) and the third ump brings out a new set.

Hang on... they've found it. We're off again.

  12. Postpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 11 May

    Warks 665-5 dec v Surrey 101-1

Ethan Bamber is striving for a full length in the hope that the ball will swing - but it doesn't.

Ryan Patel takes a single to mid-on but that's the only addition from a tidy over.

  13. 'Essex will need early runs'published at 11:11 British Summer Time 11 May

    Essex 123 v Yorks 216 & 116-1

    Dick Davies
    BBC Essex

Nothing particularly eventful has happened so far today.

Essex will need to get amongst the wickets pretty early so that this game doesn't get increasingly more difficult. It's still within their reach at the moment.

  14. 100 up for Surreypublished at 33.3 overs

    Warks 665-5 dec v Surrey 100-1

Ryan Patel tucks Oliver Hannon-Dalby away for a single to square leg as Surrey reach three figures. The left-hander is 24 not out.

  15. Postpublished at 58.5 overs

    Kent 160-8 v Glamorgan 549-9 dec

    Fortunate.

Asitha Fernando produces one which 'gets big' on tailender George Garrett, but the edge clears the slip cordon and runs away for four.

  16. Postpublished at 11:00 British Summer Time 11 May

    Warks 665-5 dec v Surrey 98-1

    How will Surrey approach this?

They know there has been very little help from the pitch for the bowlers over the first two days, so, in theory, keeping wickets intact should be perfectly possible.

Let's see. Dom Sibley resumes on 34 and Ryan Patel - who is on strike first up - has 22. Ethan Bamber will bowl the first over of day three.

  18. Hampshire 'need a McCann' innings – Birrellpublished at 10:56 British Summer Time 11 May

Hampshire head coach Adi Birrell has challenged one of his players to ‘do a McCann’ after singling out the Nottinghamshire batsman’s first- innings century as the pivotal contribution to this contest.

Five-fors for Mo Abbas, on his debut for Notts after leaving Hampshire, and Kyle Abbott have shown that this is ostensibly a bowler’s track, particularly with the new ball.

But Birrell believes McCann’s 138 has proved the difference between the sides so far as Hampshire enter day three struggling to restrict an already significant 308 runs lead for the hosts.

“We will try to knock over their remaining batters as quickly as we can in the morning, get the heavy roller on it again and hope it calms down some more and someone on our team does a McCann and gets 140,” said Birrell.

Plenty will depend on Abbas, 5-31 in the first innings, doing an Abbas in the second when Hants get bats in hand - and the bad news for the visitors is he says Trent Bridge is one of his favourite grounds.

“I’ve played two games before at Trent Bridge and taken 12 wickets. There is usually a little bit of help in the pitch so it is a ground I like bowling at,” Abbas added.

  20. Essex look for repeat of opening-day displaypublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 11 May

    Essex 123 v Yorkshire 226 & 114-1

    Chris SilverwoodImage source, Rex Features

Essex director of cricket Chris Silverwood called on his team to "keep that belief" with Yorkshire looking to build on an already significant lead on day three in Chelmsford.

The home side were bowled out for just 123, with only three players reaching double figures, to leave them facing an uphill task.

"You’ve got to give some credit to the Yorkshire bowlers because the wickets they took were genuine nicks, they were good balls. There seems to be more movement out there when the right-handers are facing," Silverwood said.

"We’ve got to believe we can do what we did when we took nine wickets for 100 runs (in the first innings), whatever it was. We have to believe we can do that, try and force it, and hopefully we’ll have plenty of time left in the game to attempt to chase it down. We’ve got to keep that belief. We’ve got nothing to lose."
