Manchester Originals batter Jos Buttler speaking on BBC Two: "It took a few balls to get used to the surface but once you got your timing, it was easy to catch up. It was a bit soft and the ball was holding into the wicket a bit."

On Samit Patel: "He gave me a send-off in the Blast so it was nice to get one over him today! You have to pick your moments and when you get the momentum it is hard to stop.

"It is hard to adapt to the different grounds. Sometimes it can be frustrating to play on pitches that are eight games old!

"I don't like losing but tonight was our best performance by far. I thought we were brilliant with the ball. It is bittersweet because we showed what we were capable of today."

  3. 'I am hungry to play more cricket'published at 21:18 British Summer Time 26 August

Manchester Originals bowler James Anderson speaking on BBC Two: "It took a while to get my first wicket. It is a shame it came in the last game. We had a good performance and it is great to be out there with the lads. Getting some wickets was nice too.

"I felt really good considering I hadn't played. The wicket was doing a bit so I just had to wait for the batter to make a mistake."

On his dropped catches: "I took it fine today. No-one drops a catch on purpose.

"It has been an interesting year. I have never really played franchise cricket before so seeing how it works has been interesting. I would have liked to play more but there are so many great bowlers so I have just tried to contribute on the pitch and in the background with ideas."

On Sonny Baker: "He has been outstanding so it has been interesting to see how he goes about things. He has everything. Pace, swinging in and out. He has the package to do well in white-ball and red-ball cricket. He has a good head on his shoulders."

On Jos Buttler: "He was amazing. We have seen glimpses of it but that was an exhibition of how to chase down a score today."

On playing in the Hundred next year: "I would love to play until the end of the season first! I have loved playing cricket and I am still hungry to play more."

Northern Superchargers have lost some momentum. When you know you are through already, those games can be hard to get up for.

They will be disappointed that it wasn't their best showing tonight in these tricky conditions.

The Northern Superchargers have lost the battle but won the war, or something - they are going on in the competition and will play the Trent Rockets or Oval invincibles in the Eliminator for a place in the final.

If it rains though, that could be that for them.

The only shot we had not seen tonight was the switch hit. Jos Buttler didn't get the length he was after.

He was having a little bit of fun out there.

Fabulous knock. Comes to an end with an attempted switch hit and he misses a straight one while facing up left-handed. Can't win 'em all.

Even the miscues are going for four as Jos Buttler plays a streaky shot and gets a boundary. Samit Patel has had a mixed day and is not the man in the field for that one.

Buttler then cracks a dreamy shot over mid on for another massive six. Generational stuff!
