Spin is not doing well here - Samit Patel is TONKED over the sightscreens by Jos Buttler who has made a career out of punishing balls like that. He then carves another four and is racing towards a 50. Claasssss.

Rachin Ravindra picks the gaps beautifully. He has such a simple technique and a fluent swing.

    He is a class act.

  3. Originals 87-2published at 60 balls

    140 the target

What a shot that is! Like a left-handed Pietersen, Rachin Ravindra fetches one from outside off stump and baseball bats it through mid on. He looks a very tidy player.

And that's a 50 partnership. The Originals look well placed as Jos Buttler just effortlessly hits another boundary through long off.

  4. 'Today was my chance'published at 20:42 British Summer Time 26 August

Manchester Originals bowler Tom Aspinwall speaking on BBC Two: "I had nothing to lose today having watched throughout the tournament. It was my time.

"I was frustrated [not bowling] but all three seamers have done really well so I can't really complain. You have to be patient and today was my chance."

On playing with Jimmy Anderson: "There is so much to learn from him, how he trains, and plays and it is good to pick his brain for technical advice.

"It is a slow pitch out there but we are going well and are building a partnership."

  5. Originals 76-2published at 55 balls

Andrew Flintoff strides off after the timeout with a beaming smile on hiss face. Confident?

Adil Rashid is having a bowl and Rachin plays it like Sachin, a lovely paddled sweep for four. That's a fairly tidy five though.

The spin is being attacked. It has been the easiest to face all night and the Originals know that now.

    Originals 69-2published at 50 balls

Dan Lawrence said before the game that he'll come on for a bowl against a left-hander and here he is with a tweak to Rachin Ravindra.

Someone is going to have to have a bang soon - as Jos Buttler hits a lovely flat cross-bat shot for four through deep square - and then FLAILS a six to the same place!

    Here. We. Go.

Northern Superchargers have bowled more spin than any other side (332 deliveries). Their spinners haven’t been very effective however, being more expensive than any other side, conceding 7.1 runs per set of five.

Jos Buttler is able to pick up two with a neat push, he's not all bull in a china shop. Rachin Ravindra flicks one off his hip for four more as the 50 comes up.

A reminder that they are chasing 140 to win...

  12. Originals 48-2published at 40 balls

The scoring rate hasn't really caught fire yet, though a lovely shot from Jos Buttler brings him four. We saw earlier though that two batters who are set can really accelerate.

We need a new (old) ball, that one has suffered some serious damage.

Love the intent from Rachin Ravindra. He went bang.

The Originals have worked out that it is easier to belt the spin than any other form.

Adil Rashid will have a bowl now for the Superchargers, fresh from having a bowl at Craig from Corrie in a pre-match TV package. And that is hammered for six by Rachin Ravindra! Massive shot into the leg side.

That's gone into the Western Terrace.

It's very dark now so that was a good catch under the lights. Hit high and hard. Rachin Ravindra is the new batter.

Phil Salt wanted to beat Tom Lawes down the ground. He was into the shot far too early and skied it to Zak Crawley.

A big man with big hands is not going to miss that catch.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 31 balls

    Salt c Crawley b Lawes 9 (Originals 31-2)

Tom Lawes comes on and takes a wicket with his first ball! It's a slower one, fingers ripped down the seam, Phil Salt tries to clobber him into the Original Oak but doesn't quite middle it and Zak Crawley takes a decent grab in the deep.

  19. How's stat?!published at 20:23 British Summer Time 26 August

    Rufus Bullough

Jacob Duffy has been superb in the Powerplay through this competition, drawing a false shot one in every three balls bowled - more than any other Northern Superchargers bowler and as a consequence is their highest wicket-taker in the opening phase.

    Alex Hartley

Samit Patel did a good job with the bat but Jos Buttler will not miss out on a delivery like that.
