Hands up, who saw Josh Hull play for Leicestershire in the last year or so and thought he was nailed on to play Test cricket for England?

Well, hopefully you had the same foresight as the guy who watched an 11-year-old Josh Tongue and lumped on!

We want to know, who else have you watched play county cricket - or perhaps in the Second XI - this season that Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes will thrust into the limelight in the future?

To get you started, Hampshire's Eddie Jack will 100 per cent get capped internationally.

    Sussex 123-1 v Glamorgan 186

Glamorgan need wickets and quickly if they want to stand any chance of securing a first-innings lead. It seems very unlikely.

The first batter to get through is nightwatcher Henry Crocombe - who played a couple of lovely shots last night.

Ned Leonard has already rapped him on the pads but umpire Nigel Llong thinks it is sliding down leg.

  3. new ball

New ball taken at Riversidepublished at 10:38 British Summer Time 10 September

    Durham v Lancs 183-6

Just a couple of singles from the Colin Ackermann over - and now we have a key moment as Durham take the new ball at the first available opportunity.

Ben Raine was the pick of the Durham attack yesterday and he'll bowl to Matty Hurst.

  4. Postpublished at 10:35 British Summer Time 10 September

    Durham v Lancs 181-6

Good start for Matty Hurst and Lancashire as Hurst drives left arm spinner Callum Parkinson through cover for four runs.

The forecast looks far better than it did yesterday when we had morning rain, gloomy skies and the near constant presence of floodlights.

Time for Lancashire to cash in.

Colin Ackermann will bowl his off breaks to Tom Hartley.

  5. Postpublished at 10:34 British Summer Time 10 September

    Kent v Hampshire 213-7

Matt Parkinson begins day two and is immediately finding that slow loopy spin that picked up three wickets yesterday.

He's milked for five runs in his first over.

Hampshire have their sights very much on 250 and a batting point, but it isn't clear what a good score would be on this pitch.

  6. Day Two begins at Riversidepublished at 10:31 British Summer Time 10 September

    Durham v Lancs 177-6

All eyes are on Matty Hurst who is key to Lancashire's chances of picking up at least one batting point today.

He'll take guard first on 74 not out, facing Callum Parkinson.

Tom Hartley is at the other end, unbeaten on 15.

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs

Gloucestershire will have to wait a little longer to begin their first innings after bowling Middlesex out on the close of play last night.

    Hopefully a passing shower.

  10. Division One round-uppublished at 10:27 British Summer Time 10 September

Away from Taunton, here's the state of play in Division One:

Lancashire began this round in the second relegation spot, 10 points behind Notts in eighth.

But Notts have added one bowling point to that slender lead against Essex with two more potentially to come today at Chelmsford, where the hosts resume on 262-5, buoyed by an unbeaten century from their captain Tom Westley.

Lancashire meanwhile are struggling at Chester-le-Street on 177-6 with only Josh Bohannon (49) and Matty Hurst (74 not out) making substantial contributions. Ben Raine was the pick of the Durham bowlers with 4-23.

Third-placed Hampshire begin Day Two precariously placed on 231-7 against Kent at Canterbury, where the hosts are belying their position at the bottom of the table. The last three of those wickets fell for 27 runs, crucially including James Vince. The Hampshire skipper was caught by Joe Denly off Matt Parkinson (3-31) for 88.

Warwickshire will hope to be batting early on in the morning session of play against Worcestershire at New Road. The Pears reached stumps last night on 294-8. That score could've been far less but for a ninth wicket unbroken stand of 52 between Tom Taylor and Jack Home.

The three main sides in the promotion race - Sussex, Yorkshire and Middlesex - all had good day ones.

Table-toppers Sussex bowled Glamorgan out for 186, with Jaydev Unadkat picking up 4-52, before openers Dan Hughes and Tom Haines wiped out much of the deficit with ease.

Yorkshire were even more dominant. They had Leicestershire 15-7 before the hosts eventually got to 98. By close, the Yorkies already boasted a 165-run lead with Jonny Tattersall unbeaten on 90.

Tattersall will be aiming to avoid the heartbreak Jacob Davies suffered. The Middlesex batter was dismissed for 91 - nine short of a maiden century - but did help his side to 377 against Gloucestershire.

And in the wooden spoon battle, Saif Zaib saved Northamptonshire from a disaster with 90, but Derbyshire strongly started their response to 219 by closing on 65-1.

  12. Honours even at Tauntonpublished at 10:20 British Summer Time 10 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey

A superb day began what is a pivotal match in the title race.

Somerset, needing to realistically win to keep hopes of a first Championship alive, won the toss and made good progress throughout the day.

They were led by Tom Banton’s 132 - his second hundred of the season.

At 305-5 with 40 minutes left in the day, the home side looked set for a dominant first innings.

But they then lost 5-12 with two superb deliveries from Dan Worrall and two shocking shots from Kasey Aldridge and Craig Overton.

It meant Somerset were bowled out in the final over of the day and honours were probably even.

    Welcome to day two!

Plenty of matches in the balance up and down the country.

Not least at Taunton between the top two in Division One - where Tom Banton scored a century for Somerset but the hosts ended the day getting bowled out by Surrey.

    Let's get to it.
