  1. Bad light brings lunch at Canterburypublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 10 September

    Kent v Hampshire 377-9

The umpires have put Kent out of their misery and taken the players off for bad light. That will also mean lunch.

An utterly dreadful session for the hosts with 164 runs coming with relative ease.

Tom Prest's century was magnificent but Kent will focus more on the 61, 61 and unbroken 45 partnerships for the eighth, ninth and tenth wickets.

  2. Postpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 10 September

    Kent v Hampshire 371-9

Mo Abbas has connected with his second attempt at a reverse hoick.

Maybe in two or three attempts he will hit it for six...probably not.

Brad Wheal has hit another six out of the ground to draw level with his first class best of 46 not out.

Somerset have spin at both ends after 14 overs of the new ball on day two. They are entitled to produce a pitch to play to their strengths but by the same token other teams are allowed to recognise this and plan accordingly. Surrey are (unfairly) getting stick for doing just this. If this game was any other ground Al Hasan would not have been signed. If you’re going to produce pitches like this, don’t be surprised when teams don’t roll over to it!

Will it hit pylon No.2? Will it hit the scoreboard? That is six runs.

Someone has to go and retrieve it. Past the car park, past the skip...!

  5. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 10 September

    Essex 349-6 v Notts

Well, Notts' hopes of a victory to boost their survival hopes in Division One look dead in the water.

Weather interruptions and some fine Essex batting have the hosts firmly on top at Chelmsford.

Notts have taken one wicket on Tuesday, that of Essex skipper Tom Westley for 122 but Michael Pepper remains unbeaten on 61 and the hosts are one run shy of a third batting point.

  6. Postpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 10 September

    Kent v Hampshire 357-9

A fairly lengthy delay as the Kent dressing room is routed for more pads and helmets for a man around the bat.

They also use the time to "un-erect" (thanks for the phrase BBC regular Alex Hoad) the floodlights as the wind is too strong for them to be fully extended. It isn't too dark at the moment but that could be interesting later on.

On the resumption, Mo Abbas plays a reverse lap that he definitely doesn't have the facilities to play successfully.

  7. Lunch at Riversidepublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 10 September

    Durham 46-2 v Lancs 228

Lovely shot from Alex Lees, driving Tom Bailey expansively through cover point for four.

A big appeal for caught behind with Lees on 19 is turned down.

Time for one more before lunch, to be bowled by George Balderson with keeper Matty Hurst standing up.

The second ball is swatted through mid wicket for four.

Three more carved through the off side on the back foot.

Alex Lees will keep the strike after lunch with a single whipped through short mid wicket.

A redemptive session of play for Lancashire after falling short of a batting point this morning and responding with two early wickets, that of Scott Borthwick and Ben McKinney.

Plenty of hard work still required to get into this contest though.

  9. Postpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 10 September

    Kent v Hampshire 353-9

A third batting point for Hampshire.

Brad Wheal has timed the underwear off this cover drive to reach 350. He is up to 28.

Fair to say this has been a hideous morning session for Kent. They've have expected to be batting by now but have been smashed around Canterbury by Tom Prest and the Hampshire tail.

  10. Red Rose's batting woes go onpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 10 September

    Durham 31-2 v Lancs 228

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Lancashire's search for another batting point goes on, then.

They've two games remaining to add to their 15 batting points so far, only Kent have fewer batting bonus points that Lancashire.

In fact they haven't scored a batting point since the first week of July.

Matty Hurst deserved a century, it was a fine innings, and a selfless approach to batting ended by a horrible mix up with Tom Bailey to be run out in the 90s and one of four wickets to fall with this morning.

  11. Lunch at Northamptonpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 10 September

    Northants 219 v Derbys 165-8

An eventful morning session comes to an end.

Derbyshire were looking reasonably comfortable at 150-4 with Aneurin Donald and Wayne Madsen batting fluently.

But the spin duo of Rob Keogh and Yuzvendra Chahal took four wickets between them inside six overs for nine run to tilt the game slightly in favour of the hosts, who lead by a slender 54.

This game could go to the wire.

    Worcestershire 307, Warwickshire 76-1

    BBC Sport at Worcester

A good morning's work for Warwickshire in the Pears-Bears derby at Worcester.

After Chris Rushworth nipped out the last two in the Worcestershire batting order - Jack Home, for 29, and Amar Virdi, Warwickshire then got to work with the bat.

Bears captain Alex Davies goes to lunch on 50, having become the first Division One player to pass 1,000 County Championship runs in the process.

Will Rhodes is on 12, the only wicket to fall was Rob Yates and the Bears are already eating into the Pears' total of 307.

After one short break for bad light earlier, there are mixed reports about what the weather gods have in store for us this afternoon.

During the meanwhile, it's time for a little beef stroganoff!

  14. Lunch at Grace Roadpublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 10 September

    Leics 98 & 0-0 v Yorks 379

Yorkshire were actually bowled out just before 12.20, so there was time for one over of the Leicestershire second innings.

Rishi Patel survived all six balls and now they will take the interval.

  15. Postpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 10 September

    Kent v Hampshire 347-9

They are bowling 104 overs at Canterbury today because of the loss of overs yesterday. That means a 12:40 BST lunch at the earliest.

"At the earliest" you reply? Yep, Kent will almost certainly take an extra half an hour with Hampshire nine wickets down.

Brad Wheal has just deposited a six on the hook, and has Hampshire on the cusp of another batting point.

  16. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 10 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 91-2

    A solid morning for Surrey.

After a watchful start, Rory Burns and Dom Sibley went smoothly to 41-0 and Somerset were forced to turn very early their spinners.

And it was 18-year-old Archie Vaughan, bowling off spin, that produced the wickets of both openers, both misjudging sweeps.

But Ben Geddes, 27, and Ryan Patel, 19, have got the visitors to the break in good shape.

  17. Postpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 10 September

    Durham 31-2 v Lancs 228

David Bedingham is off the mark with a couple of runs flicked to backward square leg off Tom Bailey.

He defends down the pitch to see out the over.

  18. 50 runs

Half-century for Alex Davies at Worcesterpublished at 12:30 British Summer Time 10 September

    Worcestershire 307, Warwickshire 75-1

Alex Davies reaches his half-century against Worcestershire.

It's his third on this ground.

  19. wicket

WICKET Coles c Cooke b Douthwaite 5published at 12:28 British Summer Time 10 September

    Sussex 213-5 v Glamorgan 186

James Coles can't stop himself from driving loosely at Dan Douthwaite.

A simple catch for Chris Cooke.

Wickets in successive overs and that second hour of the morning belongs to Glamorgan.

And that will be lunch as well.

  20. Postpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 10 September

    Durham 29-2 v Lancs 228

Alex Lees is forward to drive Anderson Phillip but can't quite get the ball past cover.

Shot! A full ball with a bit of width outside off is driven through cover point for four.
