  1. Postpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 10 September

    Durham 112-4 v Lancs 228

Four more runs to David Bedingham, rocking on to the back foot to punch a ball from Anderson Phillip through cover.

Colin Ackermann has his first run, driving his 10th ball through the offside on the front foot off the bowling of Tom Aspinwall.

A gorgeous straight drive follows from Bedingham for four.

Two more driven through mid off takes him to 43.

  2. wicket

WICKET Snater b Ahmed 8published at 14:39 British Summer Time 10 September

    Essex 441-8 v Notts

Spin working like a charm for Notts all of a sudden.

Shane Snater tries to come down the wicket and slog Farhan Ahmed but gets it all wrong and doesn't even need to turn around to know that it's hit the stumps - the Notts celebrations are enough indication.

Ahmed almost has another victim straight after as Sam Cook edges just short of Joe Clarke at slip - and the ball takes an unfortunate skip to hit him in the unmentionables. Ouch.

  3. 50 runs

50 for John Simpsonpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 10 September

    Sussex 296-5 v Glamorgan 186

John Simpson moved to a half-century.

It comes on the back of 67 and 121 in his last two innings.

At no point has he looked flustered. Just good quality middle-order batting from a man in great form.

  4. Postpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 10 September

    Northants 219 & 53-2 v Derbys 165

Gus Miller plays Jack Morely to backward square for one and James Sales survives an LBW shout, much to the chagrin of Derbyshire captain David Lloyd at second slip.

The fifth ball is clipped through mid wicket for four to get Northants past 50 in the 18th over.

Calm has been restored for now at least after 11 wickets fell earlier today.

  5. wicket

WICKET Harmer b McCann 51published at 14:32 British Summer Time 10 September

    Essex 430-7 v Notts

We said Notts had no answers a few moments ago - well, Simon Harmer just handed them, and spinner Freddie McCann in particular, the solution.

He goes for a audacious reverse sweep and the only contact the ball makes with any kind of wood is when it dislodges the leg stump after Harmer totally misses it.

A fine 51 though - the fourth half-century of Essex's seemingly never-ending innings and extras, on 48, is not far away from making it a red-faced fifth.

  6. Postpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 10 September

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs 129-5

Plenty of danger here for Gloucestershire as Ryan Higgins extracts good seam movement on a length.

He has also delivered five no balls though.

Ollie Price shoulders arms to leave the last ball and see out the 31st over.

  7. Tidy spell from Anderson Phillippublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 10 September

    Durham 100-4 v Lancs 228

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

West Indian debutant Anderson Phillip has taken two wickets so far today. He took Ben McKinney's middle stump out of the ground just before lunch, courtesy of a thick bottom edge.

Moments ago he got Alex Lees LBW for 43, the ball skidded in quick and low and got him right in front of the stumps.

The 28-year-old bowler from Trinidad and Tobago is getting a bit of pace out of the track in Chester-le-Street, having only been signed by Lancashire towards the back end of last week.

His debut contrasts with fellow West Indian Chemar Holder, who bowled for Durham yesterday and took 0-53.

It will be interesting to see how good Lancashire's total of 228 will be. Ollie Robinson has also gone LBW to Tom Aspinwall for 4. He's out of form at the moment after a great start to the season.

David Bedingham is key to what Durham can achieve here. His partnership with Lees was worth 69, the highest of the game so far.

Bedingham, who has just returned from international duty with South Africa, has 30.

  8. 50 runs

for Ryan Patelpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 10 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 153-3

A battling half-century for Ryan Patel because this has been tough going in the last half-hour for Surrey.

Somerset have applied some good pressure with their spinners, who are finding some turn.

Three men around the bat, Patel plays forward and dabs Archie Vaughan past second slip for a single to raise fifty in 130 balls with six fours.

  9. Postpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 10 September

    Durham 100-4 v Lancs 228

Lancashire have pushed Durham hard in this innings, but the runs are coming at a decent rate as David Bedingham serenely clips Anderson Phillip through mid wicket to bring up the innings 100 in 26.3 overs.

  10. 100 runs

100 for Pepper - and 50 for Harmerpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 10 September

    Essex 430-6 v Notts

Milestones within minutes of each other at Chelmsford.

Simon Harmer, who's often proven a very useful mid-to-lower order batter when he puts his mind to it, reaches 50.

Then, a few balls later, Michael Pepper scampers for a somewhat risky single and just about gets there to bring up his second first-class century for Essex.

The stand reaches 133 and Notts seem to have no answers.

  11. Kent's reply begins at Canterburypublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 10 September

    Kent 0-0 v Hampshire 403

Ben Compton and Tawanda Muyeye head out to open the batting for Kent.

They are in for a tricky spell against Kyle Abbott and Mo Abbas with the new ball.

But if they get through that, then Hampshire proved what can happen once the ball gets a little soft.

It is going to be hard work as Abbott, on his 100th appearance for Hampshire, swung the ball in a long way, narrowly missing Compton's off stump.

  12. Postpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 10 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 147-3

Not the clearest picture but if you look closely, you'll see a very proud father and former England captain.

  13. wicket

WICKET Robinson LBW b Aspinwall 4published at 14:21 British Summer Time 10 September

    Durham 99-4 v Lancs 228

Now then. Lancashire are very much in the contest.

Ollie Robinson is caught on the crease with a superb delivery from Tom Aspinwall that seams in sharply and strikes the pad in front of middle and leg.

Time for Colin Ackermann to have a bat.

  14. Postpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 10 September

    Sussex 284-5 v Glamorgan 186

Any hope of piling through the Sussex attack after those couple of wickets before lunch are a distant memory.

John Simpson has been at his classy best for 46, with his stand with Tom Clark up to 71 now.

  16. wicket

WICKET Van Buuren LBW b Higgins 14published at 14:17 British Summer Time 10 September

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs 124-5

Gloucestershire were rebuilding nicely with a 50 stand between Graeme van Buuren and Ollie Price coming in 67 balls.

Now the visitors have to start all over again - and some more.

The Gloucestershire captain misses a fine delivery from Ryan Higgins that seams in and hits the pad in front of middle and off.

    Tom Price to bat next.

  17. wicket

HAMPSHIRE BOWLED OUT FOR 403published at 14:14 British Summer Time 10 September

    Kent v Hampshire 403

Brad Wheal chops Charlie Stobo onto his own stumps.

He rocks his head back in frustration but he will walk off with a new career-best 61 to his name.

The last three partnerships? 61, 61, 71. In short, the tail wagged!

Kent remain hit for 400 in all but one of their first innings this season.

  18. wicket

WICKET Lees LBW b Phillips 43published at 14:13 British Summer Time 10 September

    Durham 94-3 v Lancs 228

    Breakthrough!

A second wicket in the innings for Anderson Phillip and it's the very valuable one of Alex Lees.

It looked like a short ball and Alex Lees is stuck in the crease.

The ball doesn't bounce much and strikes the opening batter on the knee roll in front of middle stump.

Time for Durham keeper Ollie Robinson to have a bat.

  19. More bad light at Worcesterpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 10 September

    Worcestershire 307, Warwickshire 112-4

Umpires Ben Debenham and James Middlebrook offered the light.

Warwickshire pair Ed Barnard and Hamza Shaikh took it.

And now a few Worcestershire brollies are going up too!

  20. Postpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 10 September

    Durham 94-2 v Lancs 228

The sun is shining over the Riverside as David Bedingham swats a short, leg side ball from Tom Aspinwall around the corner for four.

Bedingham gets a single off the second ball.

Lees cuts a ball short of Luke Wells at point where the ball bounces awkwardly and runs away for one more run.

    Frustration mounting for Lancashire.
