I do feel for Kent even as a Hants fan who has enjoyed the slogfest in Canterbury this morning, the pitch did look like it would offer more to the bowlers and it probably will later. I’m pretty certain we will be saying goodbye to them from Div 1?

    Kent v Hampshire 378-9

Back under way for the afternoon session.

Brad Wheal strolls through for a single to reach his highest Championship score.

He's got 47 now, can he get a first half-century?

  4. wicket

WICKET Davies b Brookes 58published at 13:37 British Summer Time 10 September

    Worcestershire 307, Warwickshire 91-3

Ethan Brookes takes a second wicket against his old county as he clean bowls Warwickshire skipper Alex Davies.

Davies looks disappointed - as he has had a lot of success against the Kookaburra ball this season.

Following his career-best 256 against Durham at Edgbaston in April, and last month's century against Somerset, he has now made 508 runs in five innings against the Kooaburra - out of this season's first-class haul of 1.024. Almost half!

And he has had 13 innings against the Duke's ball. An average of 43.0, compared to his 101.6 against the Kookaburra.

New man at the crease is England Under-19s skipper Hamza Shaikh, who makes a quick return to Worcester after hitting 91 here for England Lions against Sri Lanka a month ago on his first-class debut.

  5. Postpublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 10 September

    Sussex 250-5 v Glamorgan 186

Sussex take a batting point to go with their three bowling points as they close in on promotion to Division One.

John Simpson has been proactive since arriving at lunch and even Tom Clark has upped his strike rate, he is on 18 from 62 balls.

Easy going stuff on the south coast.

  6. wicket

WICKET: Patel lbw b Fisher 19published at 13:31 British Summer Time 10 September

    Leics 98 & 25-1 v Yorks 379

At 25-0 Leicestershire were in dreamland having been 15-7 yesterday.

But they lose one to the new ball as Rishi Patel goes to pull Matt Fisher, it keep a little low on him, and he's plumb lbw.

It looks like a very ugly swish to leg.

The ball did keep a touch low - as a few have done - but the ball wasn't short enough to pull anyway.

    A settler for Yorkshire.

  7. wicket

WICKET Shaw LBW b Moore 2published at 13:31 British Summer Time 10 September

    Northants 219 & 3-1 v Derbys 165

    Derbyshire strike early.

That's the 10th wicket to fall today!

Prithvi Shaw is hardly forward at all to Henry Moore and he's struck below the knee roll in front of the stumps.

Northants captain Luke Procter to bat next.

  8. Northants begin their second inningspublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 10 September

    Northants 219 & 0-0 v Derbys 165

The hosts have what must have been an unexpected innings lead.

Derbyshire were 150-4 at one point after all.

Prithvi Shaw is opening the innings with Gus Miller and Shaw will face Zak Chappell to start.

  9. wicket

    WICKET Bracey c Davies b Roland-Jones 0published at 13:27 British Summer Time 10 September

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs 74-4

    Two wickets in the over!

James Bracey goes for a two-ball duck.

He's forward to Toby Roland-Jones, getting a thin outside edge through to keeper Jack Davies.

Can Graeme van Buuren deliver a captain's innings?

Tom: The reason that we struggle in the sub continent is that we produce pitches that just don't spin. Why is it wrong to develop a result pitch? Come on Somerset.

Surrey are coping with it fairly well in fairness though, Tom...

Middlesex celebrate the wicket of Miles HammondImage source, Rex Features

A tortured innings comes to an end.

Toby Roland-Jones had struck Miles Hammond a nasty blow earlier and gets him caught via the outside edge while pushing at the ball.

Tom Helm takes it at third slip.

    James Bracey is in next.

  13. wicket

WICKET Rhodes c Roderick b Brookes 13published at 13:21 British Summer Time 10 September

    Worcestershire 307, Warwickshire 76-2

Back underway at Worcester after lunch - a restart only delayed by six minutes in the end.

And it's bad news for Will Rhodes.

The former Warwickshire skipper departs to the first ball bowled by his former Bears team-mate Ethan Brookes.

Left-hander Rhodes shapes to play on the leg side to a rising ball - and gets a tickle off the inside edge to home wicketkeeper Gareth Roderick.

  14. 100 up for Surreypublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 10 September

    Somerset 317 v Surrey 102-2

Archie Vaughan shapes to catch a ball thrown to himImage source, Rex Features

Both spinners, Jack Leach and Archie Vaughan, back bowling again after lunch.

Ben Geddes drives a low full toss from Vaughan away past mid-off for four to raise the fifty partnership.

A tickle around the corner off Leach brings the Surrey hundred up.

They're well placed for this afternoon - can they get right back in the game?

  15. DERBYSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 165published at 13:13 British Summer Time 10 September
    Breaking

    Northants 219 v Derbys 165

Two wickets in two balls for spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who ends the innings with 5-45 in 16.3 probing overs.

First he has Alex Thomson caught by Prithvi Shaw, running in from slip to catch via a top-edged sweep.

Next, Chahal spins one past the outside edge of the bat of number 11 Jack Morley, who tries to defend and loses his off stump.

Derbyshire have imploded dramatically, losing six wickets for 15 runs in 10 overs.

  16. Postpublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 10 September

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs 63-2

Miles Hammond has recovered to see out the over, costing one run.

Tom Helm is bowling round the wicket at the other end to the left-handed Hammond, who jab the ball down in defend mode, then plays just inside the line to survive the end of the over.

Brutal start for him and Gloucestershire this afternoon.

  17. Play resumes at Hovepublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 10 September

    Sussex 221-5 v Glamorgan 186

Dan Douthwaite ended the morning session with a wicket, but begins the afternoon with a front foot no ball.

Glamorgan were starting to get some control before lunch with a bang-bang of scalps.

The lead is only 35 and another couple of quick wickets and this match suddenly feels very even.

  18. ouch!

Hammond struck amidshipspublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 10 September

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs 63-2

We're going to pause one ball into the session because Miles Hammond has been struck in perhaps the worst possible area a gentleman can be struck with a cricket ball.

    The physio is coming on.

  19. Play resumes at Lord'spublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 10 September

    Middlesex 377 v Gloucs 62-2

    Here we go again.

Rain at Worcesterpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 10 September

    Worcestershire 307, Warwickshire 76-1

Still a few moments of lunchtime to savour at Worcester - but it's now raining.

The covers have been wheeled on.

It's only spitting. But the old local sages know their weather here.

It does not look like they will not be restarting at ten past one.
