He played beautifully. It was a wrong un' that didn't come off the surface as well as Ben Duckett expected. Marnus has a habit of picking up wickets. That was a leg-spinner but he got wickets with seam when he was with Glamorgan!

Oh, Ben Duckett! That is a slingy wrong 'un - a horrible piece of cricket.

    Duckett c&b Labuschagne 95 (Eng 213-3)

Groans all around Trent Bridge. How has Ben Duckett got out to this? He is shaking his head all of the way off after getting a leading edge to a horrible, dragged down delivery from part-timer Labuschagne.

Marnus is running away in celebration after taking a return catch. There wasn't much skill involved.

Marnus Labuschagne is on for a bowl...

Brook has got the measure of this short stuff - that was very dismissive.

  6. Eng 211-2published at 32 overs

    Duckett 94, Brook 27

The returning Cameron Green spoils his comeback over with a bouncer that is thrashed for four by Harry Brook.

The sight of the towering Australia all-rounder sends a shiver down my spine after I boldly said I'd eat a hat if he didn't take 20 wickets in the Ashes last summer.

  7. Eng 204-2published at 31 overs

    Duckett 92, Brook 22

I like the look of this England XI today. Don't forget there's Joe Root to fit back in, as well as Jos Buttler.

It's beautiful striking - one step and he uses that bottom hand to glide it into the stands.

There are some moustaches on show in this Aussie team with Ben Dwarsius' sporting a superb effort. Cooper Connolly, pictured, still looking like a Bondi surfer with his long blonde locks, is on as a sub fielder too.

There's little chance of Connolly, or anyone else for that matter, catching this. Harry Brook plants Matt Short into the stands and England's 200 is up after 30 overs.

Travis Head is reminding me of Ted Lasso with that 'tash!

  11. Eng 188-2published at 29 overs

    Duckett 85, Brook 13

I say it was a measured celebration in the crowd... on second viewing the young lad was pumping his arms and shouting "come on". He wasn't far from running off on an Imran Tahir lap of honour.

Harry Brook looked like he was struggling to time it, then out of nowhere...!

    There we go!

Skipper Harry Brook, having groped uncomfortably outside off stump earlier in the over, lifts Matt Short up over extra cover for a supreme six.

I reckon that was taken in the crowd too. He has given a measured wave to the camera.

We're seeing the impact of the wicket now - the last two and a half overs have gone for less than 10. Duckett will know England don't want to lose their two set batters.

  16. Eng 175-2published at 27 overs

    Duckett 81, brook 4

That wicket has slowed the scoring right down.

The England train has been halted by leaves on the line, or whatever other reason they find.

Jacks will be so disappointed. He is so strong over extra cover. It just got a little full which meant he didn't quite time it.

What this innings has done is laid a serious platform.

This Australian bowling attack looks toothless, be interesting to see if England's look more incisive.

    Thanks Tim.

Will Jacks still looks gutted as he stands in the dressing room. He was playing so well.
