  1. 100 for Luke Procterpublished at 18:23 25 May

    Northants 277-9 v Yorkshire 362

    It's suddenly raining hundreds.

Luke Procter smears George Hill over mid-wicket for four, having previously failed to convert five 50+ scores this season into a three-figure one.

The eighth first-class century of his career has taken 183 balls.

  2. 50 up for Lancashirepublished at 18:21 25 May

    Lancs 53-2 v Warwickshire 284

Keaton Jennings is into double figures and George Bell has 29 as Warwickshire shuffle their bowling pack.

Bell brings up the 50 with a back-foot cut for four off Rob Yates.

Jacob Bethell is coming on for the next over - 10 to come tonight.

  3. 100 for Peter Handscombpublished at 18:21 25 May

    Leivs 271-5 v Glamorgan 387

Peter Handscomb is having a great season. His scores before this innings were 26, 51, 68, 99, 109, 11 and 81.

He hits Timm van der Gugten straigh down the ground for four - a little uppishly - to reach three figures off 160 balls.

A fine knock by a fine player who has become a firm favourite at Grace Road.

  4. 50 for Joe Clarkepublished at 18:19 25 May

    Worcs 80 v Notts 189-2

Joe Clarke smashes Brett D'Oliveira towards the long-on boundary, the ball bouncing twice before reaching the rope to move to 49.

It also brings up the 100 partnership between he and skip Haseeb Hameed.

The Notts opener drives Adam Finch handsomely but the outfield slows it up and allows Ben Gibbon to restrict Hameed to two.

Clarke then hammers D'Oliveira down the ground for a single and brings up his fifth half-century of the season off 86 balls. Sensible knock.

Pears wicketkeeper Gareth Roderick won't want reminding (again) about that drop on nought.

    The lead is 109.

  5. Close of play at Canterburypublished at 18:19 25 May

    Kent 118-4 v Essex 591-7dec

Jordan Cox returned to Canterbury and registered his second century of the season against his former club - this time going BIG.

His 207 and monster seventh-wicket stand with Shane Snater (who hit a career best 83*) plus 82 from Michael Pepper helped the visitors pile on the runs against a weary Kent, playing a bowler short after Wes Agar departed injured on the first morning.

The 591-7dec on the scoreboard has proved intimidating and though the deficit is down to 473 at stumps, crucially Kent have lost their top four batters fairly cheaply.

With a question mark about Agar's involvement with the bat, and nightwatcher Matt Parkinson already in the middle, the follow-on target of 441 seems a very long way indeed.

Kent will have more than half an eye on the weather forecast for the final two days as they seek to avoid another one-sided defeat.

  6. 50 for Graeme van Buurenpublished at 18:14 25 May

    Glos 221-4 v Derbys 526

There are quite a few batters playing with great consistency this season and Graeme van Buuren is among them.

He reaches 50 for the seventh time in 2024 with a single off Luis Reece and he and James Bracey (82) have now added 90 in 22 overs.

There are six more to be bowled.

  7. 'A tough day for Surrey'published at 18:13 25 May

    Close: Hants 495-4 v Surrey 127

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio London

It's been a very tough day at the office for Surrey and tomorrow is all about how well they bat.

  8. Postpublished at 18:13 25 May

    Northants 271-9 v Yorkshire 362

With only Jack White for company, Luke Procter decides it's time to improvise if he is to reach a century.

He somehow scoops Dom Leech over the keeper's head for four before lofting the next ball over mid-on for another to move to 95 not out.

As if to prove a point, White hits three fours in the next over from Jordan Thompson including a deliberate uppercut over the slips.

  9. Postpublished at 18:12 25 May

    Kent 116-4 v Essex 591-7dec

A neat clip from Matt Parkinson off Matt Critchley races away to the deep square leg boundary for four. Something to clap, for the home faithful.

The deficit is still eyewatering, however. Even another 100 boundaries like that wouldn't bridge the gap.

  10. Close of play at Southamptonpublished at 18:12 25 May

    Hants 495-4 v Surrey 127

Ben Brown needs two from the final over of the day from Dan Lawrence to bring up three figures.

He races a single off the first ball but can't get back for a second.

Liam Dawson tries desperately to get Brown back on strike but Lawrence keeps him honest.

Brown will go to bed on 99 and Hants lead by 368.

It's been a dream day for Hampshire who have racked up 393 runs and a draining day of toil and trouble for the Surrey bowlers who have winkled out just three wickets.

The question now is how much longer skipper James Vince will want to stay out tomorrow morning before declaring.

It may all come down to a glance at the weather forecast.

  11. Postpublished at 18:09 25 May

    Lancs 40-2 v Warwickshire 284

George Bell is leading the Lancashire resistance, if not fightback.

He finds the rope off Hassan Ali to move to 22 and take his side up to 40-2.

The partnership is only 28 but feels handy. Keaton Jennings has six from 47 deliveries at the other end.

Still 14 overs remaining in the day so a late finish in store at sun-drenched Old Trafford.

  12. 150 partnershippublished at 18:04 25 May

    Hants 490-4 v Surrey 127

These are difficult times for Surrey as Liam Dawson and Ben Brown add further punishment late on day two.

Dawson has been particularly brutal towards Dan Lawrence as the fifth-wicket partnership races to 150 at better than a run a ball. 146 balls to be precise.

  13. SIX!published at 17:59 25 May

    Hants 471-4 v Surrey 127

Liam Dawson is a man on a mission.

After reaching 50 he sweeps Dan Lawrence for four through square leg.

He sweeps again to the next ball and this is even bigger - it goes all the way for his first maximum.

  14. 50 for Liam Dawsonpublished at 17:56 25 May

    Hants 461-4 v Surrey 127

Liam Dawson nurdles a Dan Lawrence delivery into the onside for a single and that's a third half-century of the season.

He scored a decisive 95 at Trent Bridge last weekend and is carrying on his fine form with the bat.

Dawson reaches the landmark off a pacey 63 balls, with six fours, and is the 52nd time in his first-class career.

He also becomes the fifth Hampshire batter to chalk up a fifty.

  15. Postpublished at 17:53 25 May

    Leics 234-4 v Derbys 526

Ian Holland joined Leicestershire on loan for this game and he has taken his time to settle into his debut innings.

He cuts Zain ul Hassan through backward point for his first boundary and is 12 not out, with partner Peter Handscomb on 82.

  16. 450 up for Hampshirepublished at 17:52 25 May

    Hants 452-4 v Surrey 127

Liam Dawson sweeps Cam Steel fine for four and that brings up the 450 in the 138th over.

He then sweeps fine of square and collects a single to move to 49.

  17. WICKET: Compton lbw b Critchley 41published at 17:51 25 May

    Kent 105-4 v Essex 591-7dec

That is a very big moment in this game.

Ben Compton had survived a muted appeal a couple of balls earlier but this time he's adjudged lbw as he tries to sweep Matt Critchley into the leg side.

Might have hit him outside the line but either way it's a very avoidable dismissal given the game situation, with Kent 486 runs behind.

Matt Parkinson comes in as a nightwatcher with 33 balls remaining in the day.

  18. Latest from Lord'spublished at 17:50 25 May

    Middlesex 32-1 v Sussex 554-9 dec

A maiden over from Ollie Robinson to Sam Robson and there are eight more to be bowled at Lord's.

Middlesex will want to avoid any further setbacks following the loss of Mark Stoneman, who was caught at second slip off Robinson for four.

  19. Postpublished at 17:49 25 May

    Worcs 80 v Notts 153-2

Joe Clarke is on the front foot to Pears' wicket-taker Nathan Smith and directs a push through the covers.

There's a foot race as the ball slows up, but the ball wins. Four takes Clarke to 31.

Clarke guides the next ball down to third man for another single. Haseeb Hameed goes to 62 with another single.

Notts move 73 in front. Very handy.

  20. Postpublished at 17:48 25 May

    Glos 200-4 v Derbys 526

    Very nice indeed.

James Bracey lofts Alex Thomson handsomely down the ground for six to move to 68 not out.

A couple of singles in the next over and Gloucestershire reach 200.
