James Harris digs in a short ball from round the wicket and Hill tries an uppercut, only for Billy Root to take a good catch at third man.

Hill faced 188 balls and hit seven fours, adding 141 for the fourth wicket with Peter Handscomb.

    Glos 146-4 v Derbys 526

A century and two fifties in 2024 becomes a century and three as James Bracey cracks Zak Chappell through the covers for four.

It has taken the left-hander 72 balls and that is his eighth boundary in this innings.

  3. 200 up for Leicestershirepublished at 17:11 25 May

    Leics 200-3 v Glamorgan 387

Peter Handscomb appears to batting with a guard outside off stump, it's not surprise therefore that when James Harris strays onto leg, he is able to flick it away fine for four.

A single later in the over takes Leicestershire to 200 and the partnership with Lewis Hill to 135.

  5. 'A perfect start for Bears'published at 17:08 25 May

    Lancs 0-1 v Warwickshire 284

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

A perfect start for the Bears.

Luke Wells has not really got his season going yet and he has to wait a little longer to try and find some runs in the County Championship.

It gives them an extra bit of energy.

  6. Postpublished at 17:08 25 May

    Hants 367-4 v Surrey 127

Alec Stewart again goes for a wander around the boundary egde to rally his troops.

Gus Atkinson strays legside and Ben Brown whips it off his legs down to the short fine leg boundary.

A no-ball follows. This is the England paceman's 21st over and he may be feeling the effects on a warmish afternoon.

  7. Postpublished at 17:07 25 May

    Kent 69-2 Essex 591-7dec

Stroke of fortune for Kent as Jamie Porter finds the edge of Marcus O'Riordan's bat but the ball flashes between first and third slips and away to the rope for four.

He's into double figures while Ben Compton is 26 not out.

Time is more important than runs, at this point. But neither are as important as wickets in hand.

  8. WICKET: Wells c Yates b Hannon-Dalby 0published at 17:02 25 May

    Lancs 0-1 v Warwickshire 284

What a start for Warwickshire. Second ball of the innings. A thick edge from Luke Wells off Oliver Hannon-Dalby flies to second slip.

Rob Yates, who is a fantastic slip fielder, takes a fine catch falling to his right.

Josh Bohannon joins Keaton Jennings in the middle.

  9. Postpublished at 17:01 25 May

    Hants 358-4 v Surrey 127

Dan Lawrence prompts a play and miss from Ben Brown.

It kept very low and evades the bottom edge of Brown's bat on its way through to Jamie Smith.

He then looks to hook a quick lifter from Gus Atkinson but fails to connect.

The Hants lead continues to tick along. There is so much time in this match, why hurry?

And they may not fancy much of a fourth innings target should the match get that far.

  10. Postpublished at 16:58 25 May

    Worcs 80 v Notts 114-2

Joe Leach bustles in for his ninth over to Haseeb Hameed who is happy to defend.

A second consecutive maiden for the Pears bowler.

Ben Gibbon comes on for Adam Finch and keeps Joe Clarke honest.

The Notts man started the season like a train with centuries in each of his first three matches, but the express has slowed a little in recent weeks and has yet to get going today.

Clarke plays out a maiden and has five from 22 balls, having been dropped on nought before tea.

  11. Postpublished at 16:58 25 May

    Yes, you read that correctly...

  12. WICKET Charlesworth c Guest b Chappell 40published at 16:52 25 May

    Glos 131-4 v Derbys 526

It was a patient effort by Ben Charlesworth but now he is gone.

Zak Chappell finds a little nip away from the bat and it's a straightforward catch for keeper Brooke Guest.

Charlesworth put on 68 with James Bracey, who is 43 not out.

  13. 350 up for Hampshirepublished at 16:50 25 May

    Hants 350-4 v Surrey 127

Ben Brown unfurls a super cut shot as Dan Worrall offers a little width.

It beats the dive of Cam Steel backward of point for four.

He then takes a single off the last to keep the strike and take the hosts to 350.

No bonus point, however. We're in the 119th over.

    The lead is 223.

  14. WICKET Lamb c and b Hollman 49published at 16:50 25 May

    Middlesex v Sussex 554-9

Danny Lamb misses out on a 50 at Lord's as a leading edge is taken by a grateful Luke Hollman.

And with that, Sussex call a halt to their first innings, in which John Simpson and Cheteshwar Pujara both made hundreds.

This is Sussex's highest total in a Championship game against Middlesex, beating the 550-9 declared they made at Hove in 1980, when Kepler Wessels top-scored with 254.

  15. Warwickshire 284 all outpublished at 16:48 25 May

    Hannon-Dalby lbw b Morley 0

Alex Davies carries his bat for 127 not out.

Jack Morley pins Oliver Hannon-Dalby to end the innings.

There will be 30 overs remaining in the day so by stumps we should have a good idea about whether a result is likely in this one.

  16. Postpublished at 16:46 25 May

    Kent 64-2 v Essex 591-7dec

Two back-foot cuts from Ben Compton in as many balls off Simon Harmer, ignoring the close fielders packed all around him, find the rope on the long boundary side of the ground.

Compton moves to 25* and, as so often, a lot is riding on his shoulders.

  17. 50 for Haseeb Hameedpublished at 16:44 25 May

    Worcs 80 v Notts 110-2

Adam Finch bowls to Haseeb Hameed who cuts through the offside for four to bring up his 50.

Only a second half-century of the season for the Notts skipper, from 111 balls with six fours.

But he did move on to make an unbeaten 247 on that occasion.

  18. WICKET Vince c Smith b Worrall 52published at 16:40 25 May

    Hants 338-4 v Surrey 127

Soon after reaching his landmark, James Vince falls for a run-a-ball 52.

He tries to pull Dan Worrall away on the legside, but edges through to wicketkeeper Jamie Smith.

Liam Dawson joins Ben Brown and the lead is 211.

  19. 'Vince has given Hampshire innings vibrancy'published at 16:40 25 May

    Hants 337-3 v Surrey 127

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio London

A really good innings from James Vince, it's given this Hampshire innings a bit of vibrancy, a bit of impetus.

  20. Postpublished at 16:40 25 May

    Northants 192-7 v Yorks 362

Luke Procter is fortunate. That's a thick edge but it kills the pace of the ball and falls well short of first slip, who is unable to prevent it running away for four.

Ben Sanderson throws everything at the first ball of the next, bowled by Matthew Revis, and it flies over the slips and down to third man for four.
