    Kent v Essex 574-6

This is now an Essex record for the seventh wicket against Kent. 176 added between Jordan Cox and Shane Snater from only 146 balls.

It beats a 32-year-old record set by Nadeem Shahid and Derek Pringle at Chelmsford.

Essex won by an innings and 86 runs in that May game in 1992. They'll surely fancy something similar here.

  2. Hampshire lead into three figurespublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 25 May

    Hants 230-1 v Surrey 127

Nick Gubbins wasn't in control of that shot, but it flies over the head of Ollie Pope at gully for four. Gus Atkinson puffs out his cheeks.

It takes the Hampshire lead past 100. This pair have put on 179.

Surrey have 19 overs left to pick up two wickets if they want to pick up a bowling point.

    Durham 265 v Somerset 171 & 55-4

A change of bowling as Paul Coughlin relieves Peter Siddle.

He fizzes one past the edge of Josh Davey's bat, but he responds by pulling a short one away for four.

  4. Somerset up against it in CLSpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 25 May

    Durham 265 v Somerset 171 & 51-4

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Somerset have just lost their third and fourth wickets in Ben Stokes' first two overs of the day.

Tom Lammonby edged him behind on 14 to leave them 34-3 and still trailing Durham by 60 runs. Then with the second ball of his next over Andy Umeed was caught at second slip when on 16.

Illness and injury means Somerset have had to re-jig their batting order. Tom Banton is not well so Josh Davey has come in at five. Lewis Gregory, their skipper, is also said to be under the weather.

Migael Pretorius was pulled out of this game yesterday afternoon, moments after scoring 53 in their first innings. He was deemed to be suffering from concussion after a bouncer from Ben Raine hit him on the back of the head.

He fell asleep during the short tea interval and that is when it was decided all was not right. His replacement Jake Ball did take 5-62 but is not considered to be the batsman Pretorius is.

  5. 200 runs

200 for Jordan Coxpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 25 May

    Kent v Essex 566-6

He's loved every minute of this.

His second first class double century at Canterbury comes from 246 balls with 21 fours and five sixes.

He brings it up with a punch to mid-on off his pal Joey Evison.

Kent, toiling away without Wes Agar, remember, are running on fumes.

What a moment for the 22-year-old Hampshire batter.

In just his fourth County Championship match, Albert drives and decides to race back for a second.

It's tight and he has to dive to make his ground, but he's safe and it brings up three figures off 280 balls, featuring 11 fours.

It's been a properly old-fashioned orthodox opener's knock, leaving well and taking runs when they're available. Mature innings.

A few days ago he would not have been expecting to play, but then Ali Orr injured his back. The 22-year-old has taken the opportunity with both hands.

You never forget your first century. I can only imagine.

    Hants 224-1 v Surrey 127

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Surrey are bowling nice and tidily with this second new ball.

They're not giving Hampshire anything to hit at all.

It's a well set field by Rory Burns, they are bowling to that field and at the moment there are very few gaps.

  8. Postpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 25 May

    Durham 265 v Somerset 171 & 50-4

Very hard to resist Ben Stokes when he's in the zone.

Somerset are still 47 in arrears as he begins his third over.

There is swing both ways for the England captain, but James Rew manages to steer the ball away for a couple before tucking him away to square leg as the total reaches 50.

  9. Postpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 25 May

    Worcs 80 v Notts 17-0

So far so good for Notts openers.

Ben Slater drives Joe Leach nicely through the covers to pick up his first boundary.

Slater then opens the face of the bat and guides it down to third man for back-to-back fours.

Leach then strikes Slater on the pad, but it was going down leg.

  10. Postpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 25 May

    Kent v Essex 560-6

'Make it stop' implores one beleaguered Kent fan.

Shane Snater does not care one iota for people's feelings, despite having played a game for Kent once.

Back-to-back sixes off Joe Denly bring up the Essex 550. He's into the 60s. Jordan Cox is into the (not) nervous 190s.

    21 off the Denly over.

  11. 50 runs

50 for Shane Snaterpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 25 May

    Kent v Essex 535-6

He survived an appeal for lbw from Joe Denly earlier in the over - perhaps due to an inside edge - but Shane Snater brings up his sixth first class half-century from 66 balls. No fours, but three sixes.

His partnership with Jordan Cox is closing on 150.

    Stokes strikes again.

Andy Umeed thinks about taking the bat out of the line but it deflects off the face and Colin Ackermann stoops to take a low catch at second slip moving to his right.

Two wickets in eight balls so far in this spell for the England captain.

  13. Division Two updatepublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 25 May

Glamorgan have their third wicket at Grace Road with Rishi Patel caught behind from a beautiful Timm van der Gugten leg-cutter for 27. Leicestershire are now 72-3, 315 behind.

Success too for Yorkshire at Northampton where Ricardo Vasconcelos top edged a pull shot to become Vishwa Fernando's first victim of the game. The home side are 108-2, replying to 362 all by the White Rose.

Gloucestershire are 26-1 in the seventh over of their reply against Derbyshire and Sussex have advanced to 423-5 against Middlesex at Lord's

  14. Postpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 25 May

    Hants 222-1 v Surrey 127

Jordan Clark gets a little extra bounce with the new cherry and catches a thick outside edge from Toby Albert's bat.

It flashes past Ollie Pope at second slip and races to the rope.

A nudged single takes Albert to within two of a maiden first-class century.

It also brings up double nelson. A play and miss from Nick Gubbins who pokes at a ball angling across him. It holds its line and whizzes past the outside edge.

  15. Play resumes at Worcesterpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 25 May

    Worcs 80 v Notts 2-0

Joe Leach to open the bowling for Worcestershire.

Boy do they need to make early inroads after getting skittled in a session.

Haseeb Hameed is off the mark second ball with a scampered single.

Then Ben Slater is immediately off the mark. Two from the over.

Nathan Smith roars in over the wicket to the left-handed Slater and his first ball wraps the batter on the pads. Groans but no appeal from the slips.

Slater is watchful and it's a maiden over for Smith.

  16. Postpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 25 May

    Lancs v Warwickshire 180-5

Alex Davies moves into the 80s as he plays a late shot with an open face off Jack Morley, running the ball down to the rope at third. Perfect timing.

Just his second boundary of the day. He's played an incredibly disciplined innings.

Michael Burgess has seven from 20 balls at the other end.

  17. Postpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 25 May

    Durham 265 v Somerset 171 & 38-3

Surprise shuffle by Somerset as Josh Davey comes to the crease at number five.

He keeps out the final ball of Ben Stokes' over before the first of the next, bowled by Peter Siddle, is way outside leg stump and runs away for four byes.

  18. Postpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 25 May

    Kent v Essex 517-6

Jordan Cox's career best is 238* - made on this ground as a teenager in 2020.

He is now 'only' 61 runs away from that mark at the moment and clearly seeing it like a watermelon against his toiling former teammates.

There's no respite at the other end either as Shane Snater wallops Matt Parkinson away for his third six to move to 45* from 56 balls.

  19. wicket

WICKET Lammonby c Robinson b Stokes 14published at 14:09 British Summer Time 25 May

    Durham 265 v Somerset 171 & 34-3

Time for Mr Stokes to have a trundle at the Riverside.

Was that a chance? Probably not.

Tom Lammonby fails to keep on top of one as he drives straight but Stokes can't quite reach it with his left hand. Two runs.

They are, though, Lammonby's last as Stokes produces a beauty which he nicks to the keeper.

  20. Postpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 25 May

    Hants 213-1 v Surrey 127

Dan Worrall gets the new ball to nip back in and strikes Nick Gubbins above the front pad on the thigh.

    A slight grimace from Gubbins.

Worrall then sends one low into the front pad but it's going down leg and the semi-appeal is quickly curtailed. Maiden.

This pair have been batting since around 5pm yesterday. Let's say they look set.
