Summary

  1. Play on the way at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 11 September

    Essex 457 v Notts 93 & 98-2

Should be resuming at 16:00 at Chelmsford after tea was taken during the downpours.

  2. wicket

WICKET Hain lbw Taylor 22published at 15:54 British Summer Time 11 September

    Worcestershire 307, Warwickshire 128 & 169-3

Another big breakthrough for Worcestershire as they remove Sam Hain.

A first second innings wicket for Tom Taylor, who was off the field for a while and did not bowl at all in the afternoon session.

It's not been Hain's best summer, admittedly - but even so the Pears sound very pleased to see the back of him.

One particularly loud roar at the New Road End.

  3. Tea at Leicesterpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 11 September

    Leicestershire 98 & 187-7 v Yorkshire 379

A very productive mini-session for Yorkshire.

They are three wickets away from a crucial victory in their pursuit of promotion.

  4. wicket

WICKET Rehan Ahmed c Lyth b Hill 77published at 15:46 British Summer Time 11 September

    Leicestershire 98 & 183-7 v Yorkshire 379

George Hill is on a roll.

He is getting just enough movement and has added Rehan Ahmed to his pocket to join Ben Cox and Louis Kimber.

Rehan had played some shots in his 77 so it isn't a great surprise he drove at Hill. He's just unlucky it went straight to Adam 'Safe Hands' Lyth at second slip.

  5. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 11 September

    Northants 219 & 211 v Derbys 165 & 33-3 (target: 266)

Yuzvendra Chahal almost has an eighth in the match after getting an edge out of David Lloyd.

It turned, it bounce and it carried to Ricardo Vasconcelos.

But it was a tough chance at first slip and it goes down.

  6. Tea at Canterburypublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 11 September

    Kent 207 & 28-0 v Hampshire 403

Tawanda Muyeye and Ben Compton very comfortable after Kent were asked to follow-on.

Rain stops play (again)published at 15:38 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 & 43-1 v Gloucs 309-9 dec

Well, that was a cosy five minutes.

Horrid day to be on the ground staff.

The covers are coming back on.

  8. wicket

WICKET Reece b Chahal 15published at 15:37 British Summer Time 11 September

    Northants 219 & 211 v Derbys 165 & 31-3 (target: 266)

Wicket No.7 in the match for Yuzvendra Chahal.

The Indian has never taken a 10-fer but he gets one to straighten to Luis Reece and bounce into the off stump.

Northamptonshire can smell blood and a victory in the wooden spoon battle.

A much better session for Warwickshire after this morning's New Road pounding.

Just one wicket lost in the session - and that was Alex Davies after his second half-century of the match.

105 runs too in 33 overs.

Will Rhodes is on 66. Sam Hain is on 22. And the Bears now trail by just 15.

Today's third session will play a major part in determining the outcome of this Midlands Pears-Bears derby. 40 overs left in the day!

  10. Tea at Riversidepublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 11 September

    Durham 573-9 dec v Lancs 288 & 49-1

A solid session of play for Lancashire after the early loss of Keaton Jennings.

36 overs left in the day's play after the break.

  11. wicket

WICKET Cox lbw Hill 14published at 15:36 British Summer Time 11 September

    Leicestershire 98 & 176-6 v Yorkshire 379

George Hill pins Ben Cox and no doubt about that.

    Leicestershire staring down the barrel.

    They still trail by 105.

  12. Tea at Hovepublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 11 September

    Sussex 491 v Glamorgan 186 & 136-4

Jack Carson concedes just a leg bye from his ninth over and that's tea.

Sussex look to be closing in on a seventh championship win of the season after taking three Glamorgan wickets in the afternoon session, including that of Colin Ingram for 71.

The Welsh side trail by 169 heading into the interval, with 43 overs left of the day if light allows.

Sussex may fancy their chances of wrapping things up today.

  13. Play resumes at Lord'spublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 & 39-1 v Gloucs 309-9 dec

It was indeed a short delay.

Ajeet Singh Dale will bowl to Max Holden to complete the over.

    Middlesex lead by 107.

  14. Postpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 11 September

    Kent 207 & 12-0 v Hampshire 403

Sheeesh, Tawanda Muyeye smoked this ball for six.

Out of nowhere, Muyeye rocks onto the back foot and smashes Mo Abbas over the midwicket boundary. A delay as they try to find a suitable replacement ball.

Muyeye and James Vince batting in the same match should come with an "aesthetically pleasing batting" tax for spectators.

  15. Postpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 11 September

    Durham 573-9 dec v Lancs 288 & 49-1

Four runs to Luke Wells, driving a very full ball from Chemar Holder to long on.

Lancashire as we know are in the relegation zone but if the team can hold out for a draw, they may yet keep the pressure on Notts, who began this round just above them and are currently in danger of an innings defeat at Chelmsford.

Josh Bohannon gets a thick inside edge onto his pad defending his wicket against Bas de Leede but survives to play a lovely pirouetted pull shot later on through square leg.

    Get him on Strictly!

  16. Postpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 11 September

    Sussex 491 v Glamorgan 186 & 135-4

Ben Kellaway must have walked to the crease in decent spirits after picking up his first red-ball five-wicket haul earlier today.

He's off the mark with a fourth-ball boundary as he pulls Henry Crocombe square through the legside for four.

  17. Under way at Northamptonpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 11 September

    Northants 219 & 211 v Derbys 165 & 20-1 (target: 266)

It feels like decades since Yuzvendra Chahal had Brooke Guest leg before with the last ball before lunch.

But after watching the covers for a while, it is time for the action to resume.

  18. Postpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 11 September

    Durham 573-9 dec v Lancs 288 & 37-1

Chemar Holder is in the attack at the Finchale End and bowls a tight line and length.

Just that one run from the over.

Bas de Leede is round the wicket to the left-handed Luke Wells, who gets a single off the third ball clipped into the leg side.

The runs have dried up but survival is key for Lancashire here.

  19. wicket

WICKET Northeast c Coles b Crocombe 0published at 15:25 British Summer Time 11 September

    Sussex 491 v Glamorgan 186 & 131-4

Sam Northeast will want that shot back.

Henry Crocombe suckers in the Glamorgan skipper with a short ball.

Northeast swivels but pulls his fourth ball straight to James Coles at deep backward square leg.

Glamorgan are in deep now. They still need 174 to make the Division Two leaders bat again.

Ben Kellaway joins Kiran Carlson (40).

  20. Still off at Lord'spublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 11 September

    Middlesex 377 & 39-1 v Gloucs 309-9 dec

We had hoped to resume by now but the ground is covered in dark cloud and the rain threat is still here.

    As you were.
