  1. wicket

WICKET: Aspinwall c Ackermann b Raine 2published at 17:43 British Summer Time 17 May

    Lancashire 287-7 v Durham

Durham take the new ball - and it pays immediate dividends as Ben Raine gets Tom Aspinwall to edge into the hands of second slip.

Seven down and the visitors will be hoping to clean up this Lancashire innings tonight.

Saqib Mahmood comes to the crease, determined to keep them at bay.

  2. 6 runs

James Rew attacks as Somerset reach 400published at 17:41 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 400-5 v Kent

An amazing shot from James Rew, who gets a full, leg side ball from Grant Stewart and gently lofts it over square leg for six.

    Immaculate timing.

He keeps the strike with a single off the last ball of the over and then takes Somerset to a fourth batting point in the 89th over, staying in the crease and pushing Beyers Swanepoel square through the off side for a single.

  3. 100 for Ed Barnardpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 17 May

    Essex v Warwickshire 275-6

Great knock by Ed Barnard - and that's back to back hundreds for the Bears all-rounder!

Barnard steers Jamie Porter to third man for a couple to bring up three figures from 198 balls and win that particular race with Michael Burgess, who's on 89.

It's Barnard's seventh first-class hundred overall and the pair have really dragged Warwickshire out of the mire this afternoon.

  4. 50 partnership for James and Stonepublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 17 May

    Notts 169-7 v Hants

Although they're still behind in this game, Nottinghamshire's recovery with the bat continues.

Lyndon James nudges Keith Barker for a single that brings up the 50 partnership with Olly Stone, who has also played some pleasing shots including a slog-swept boundary off Liam Dawson to reach 20 not out.

James, meanwhile, has 68 as Notts continue to make progress against the second new ball.

  5. 'Lancashire will want to be batting tomorrow'published at 17:36 British Summer Time 17 May

    Lancashire 285-6 v Durham

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

A couple of youngsters out in there now - Matty Hurst and Tom Aspinwall.

It would be a win from a Lancashire point of view if they're still out there tomorrow batting.

  6. Postpublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 213 v Worcs 65-5

Sean Abbott bowls a very full length to Brett D'Oliveira, who drives and the ball thuds into his pad.

He gets a single turned into the leg side.

Matthew Waite will keep the strike with a push to deep square leg.

We have a change of bowling as Gus Atkinson comes in for his first spell of the match.

  7. Postpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 17 May

    Sussex 150 v Yorkshire 101-4

Joe Root flaps Danny Lamb through point to the rope to bring up Yorkshire's 100.

It wasn't the most convincing of shots but it takes the England batter to 32.

Still 21 overs to go at Hove!

  8. 'Good stuff from Barnard and Burgess'published at 17:31 British Summer Time 17 May

    Essex v Warwickshire 268-6

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport

This is really good stuff from Ed Barnard and Michael Burgess.

Coming together at 104-6 it looked like the visitors’ innings could subside but this pair have taken the game to Essex, accruing runs relatively comfortably with just a couple of scares.

Speaking to Dean Elgar earlier this season he assessed the Chelmsford surface as one, once you got past the first ten overs, you can just play normal cricket on and scores runs at a good rate – that is proving the case once again.

  9. Postpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 391-5 v Kent

Lewis Gregory settles into his stride quickly with four runs off his third ball, driving Beyers Swanepoel on the front foot through cover.

He gets four more in the next over, staying in the crease and steering Grant Stewart through point.

  10. Deserved second wicket for Stokespublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 17 May

    Lancashire 283-6 v Durham

    Sam Drury
BBC Sport cricket writer at Stanley Park

Ben Stokes has his second wicket and he's deserved it.

He has run in hard for Durham and done everything he can to make life as tough as possible for the Lancashire batters with this old ball.

Tom Bruce has struggled so far this season but was batting well so that is a big wicket for the visitors, who will want to get stuck into the tail before the close.

  11. Postpublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 213 v Worcs 60-5

A confident start by Matthew Waite, moving back and across to Sean Abbott to drive the ball through cover for four.

Light permitting - 21 overs left before stumps tonight.

  12. wicket

    WICKET: Bruce c & b Stokes 46published at 17:26 British Summer Time 17 May

    Lancashire 283-6 v Durham

Ben Stokes won't have had too many easier catches in his career than that one.

Tom Bruce had pumped the England captain for a midwicket boundary in his previous over and he was looking to score again on the leg side - but the ball sailed up off a leading edge and Stokes barely had to move as he clasped it safely.

That's a blow for Lancashire, with their top six all gone now as Tom Aspinwall comes out to join Matty Hurst.

  13. wicket

WICKET Banton c Finch b Stewart 133published at 17:23 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 377-5 v Kent

A magnificent innings is ended by Grant Stewart - who bowls a short ball outside off stump to Tom Banton.

Banton is back on his toes trying to chop the ball to third man and he's toe-ended the ball to keeper Harry Finch.

Somerset captain Lewis Gregory is in next.

  14. 'Tremendous innings from Rew'published at 17:21 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 377-4 v Kent

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A tremendous innings from James Rew, it has taken him 128 deliveries and it is his seventh century in first-class cricket and the first for the season.

He's had a bit of good fortune with one or two edges when the ball might have gone onto the stumps, but it didn't

It's been very enterprising batting from Somerset all day.

  15. wicket

WICKET Jones lbw b Clark 14published at 17:20 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 213 v Worcs 53-5

One ball after turning a Jordan Clark delivery away to fine leg for four, Rob Jones is out, pinned in front of off stump by Jordan Clark.

Good delivery. Just back of a length and moving in off the seam.

Matthew Waite is in next and the Pears are in tatters.

  16. 100 runs

100 for James Rewpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 376-4 v Kent

James Rew celebrates scoring a centuryImage source, Getty Images

James Rew turns Grant Stewart away to deep backward square leg for one and that takes him to 99.

Another four for Tom Banton, waiting in the crease and tapping the ball away through cover point.

A single comes off a no ball and that's the 200 partnership for the fifth wicket in 254 balls.

The next ball is turned away by Rew through the on side and that's his first century of the season for Somerset and his seventh in all.

128 balls. 12 fours and two sixes.

  17. 'Another loose shot'published at 17:16 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 213 v Worcs 49-4

    Guy Swindells
    BBC Radio London

Another loose shout outside off-stump. Unnecessary from Adam Hose.

I think his eyes lit up, the ball jagged away from him a little, he tried to punch it off the back foot and just edged straight to third slip again.

Yet again a loose-ish shot. The last two wickets have gone in a very similar fashion.

  18. Postpublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 364-4 v Kent

James Rew is on 97 and is beaten by Beyers Swanepoel, driving outside the off stump.

Rew turns the last ball of the over safely into the one side for one.

  19. Highest first-class score for Bantonpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 361-4 v Kent

Grant Stewart shares the new ball with Beyers Swanepoel and bowls a short, wide delivery, chopped away by Tom Banton for two.

    He's on 128 - and that's his highest score in first-class cricket.

  20. First batting point for Warwickshirepublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 17 May

    Essex v Warwickshire 250-6

Essex v Warwickshire match actionImage source, Getty Images

That's a pretty impressive achievement by the Bears, who were 74-5 this morning and now have their first bonus point in the bag.

It's largely thanks to Ed Barnard and Michael Burgess, who have turned this innings around with their seventh-wicket partnership and are matching each other stride for stride, with 82 apiece.

Essex thought they might have a breakthrough just now when Shane Snater arrowed a throw in from the deep as Barnard scampered back for a second, but made his ground despite the direct hit.
