  1. 'Interesting to see how Root plays'published at 15:51 17 May

    Sussex 150 v Yorkshire 33-2

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Despite 12 wickets having fallen in the day, this pitch isn’t a minefield, there’s encouragement for the bowlers with good bounce and carry, but runs for those who are prepared to be patient and play straight.

Joe Root has just come to the crease greeted with warm applause by the Sussex crowd, and it’ll be interesting to see how he plays on this pitch.

  2. WICKET: Jennings c Borthwick b Parkinson 115published at 15:49 17 May

    Lancashire 214-4 v Durham

Big wicket for Durham as Callum Parkinson dismisses centurion Keaton Jennings just before tea.

Jennings drives the left-arm spinner and doesn't quite get hold of it as his opposite number, Durham skipper Scott Borthwick, takes the catch at mid-on.

George Balderson is next in for the Red Rose.

  3. Joe Root battingpublished at 15:48 17 May

    Sussex 150 v Yorkshire 31-2

Sussex seamer Sean Hunt has just dismissed Yorkshire opener Adam Lyth which brings Joe Root to the middle.

Scores of 156 and 119 in his past two innings for the county suggest he's in a bit of form...

  4. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:47 17 May

    Somerset 265-4 v Kent

James Rew and Tom BantonImage source, Getty Images

Kent could be staring down the barrel of a huge Somerset total here as Tom Banton and James Rew go into tea with an unbroken stand of 93 behind them.

Banton has 66 and Rew is on 63.

  5. 'Harrison wicket a gift'published at 15:45 17 May

    Notts 120-7 v Hants

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Calvin Harrison has given Liam Dawson a wicket there, he's absolutely gifted him that.

Thing with playing a shot like that is that it's a good wicket shot because it wasn't that short.

That ball has to behave how you'd want it to behave to play that sort of shot at that length. He's just given that away.

He's had a life and Hampshire haven't taken it but that is a massive bonus.

  6. Surrey all out for 213 at the Ovalpublished at 15:42 17 May

    Surrey 213 v Worcs

Dan Worrall drives and gets an inside edge which keeper Gareth Roderick takes on the bounce one-handed.

Jordan Clark tries to pinch the strike but Worrall responds late to the call and is run out at the bowler's end by Ben Gibbon, taking the return smartly from Gareth Roderick.

    That's tea.

  7. Clark attackspublished at 15:42 17 May

    Surrey 213-9 v Worcs

    He has to, really.

He's forward to Joe Leach, driving over long off for a maximum.

He's on 42 but has lost the strike.

  8. Postpublished at 15:40 17 May

    Somerset 258-4 v Kent

More runs for James Rew, turning Marcus O'Riordan to the vacant deep backward square leg for four.

Joey Evison bowls a tight line and length to Tom Banton at the other end.

    Maiden over.

  9. Gloucestershire dominantpublished at 15:39 17 May

    Division Two latest

Gloucestershire opener Cameron Bancroft has just brought up his 28th first-class century with his side now on 242-0 at Leicestershire.

Opening partner Ben Charlesworth has 88.

Yorkshire have lost an early wicket after skittling Sussex for 150. They're 25-1 with Fin Bean the batter to go.

Zain ul Hassan and Mason Crane have steadied things for Glamorgan with a stand of 47 to take them to 150-7 against Middlesex.

And Northants batter George Bartlett has just reached fifty to help his side to 177-4 at Derbyshire.

  10. WICKET: Harrison b Dawson 25published at 15:37 17 May

    Notts 119-7 v Hants

Liam Dawson makes the breakthrough for Hampshire in his second over!

Calvin Harrison steps away to try and smoke one through the off side, misses and the ball hits middle and off to end this partnership of 69 with Lyndon James.

It's at least given Nottinghamshire a chance of posting some kind of respectable total after their dramatic slump this morning.

  12. WICKET Roach c Roderick b Gibbon 4published at 15:33 17 May

    Surrey 201-9 v Worcs

Ben Gibbon strikes for the Pears!

It's a wide ball outside off and Kemar Roach is rooted to the crease, hacking at the ball and edging to the keeper.

Gareth Roderick takes his fourth catch.

Surrey number 11 Dan Worrall is in.

  13. First batting point for Somersetpublished at 15:32 17 May

    Somerset 252-4 v Kent

James Rew is full of confidence as he is forward to spinner Marcus O'Riordan to drive over the top for six.

    All poise and elegance.

The 250 comes in the 60th over and Somerset will have an eye on many more runs.

  14. 50 for James Rewpublished at 15:27 17 May

    Somerset 245-4 v Kent

That's his sixth half-century for Somerset and his first this season since the opening Championship round - against the same opposition at Canterbury.

He reaches the landmark off 61 balls with a glorious four driven down the ground off Joey Evison.

Seven fours in all with one six.

  15. Surrey reach 200published at 15:26 17 May

    Surrey 200-8 v Worcs

One more run to Kemar Roach, who is forward to Matthew Waite and gets a thick outside edge past the slips for one.

The Surrey 200 comes up in exactly 51 overs. Riches indeed after 15-4 but Surrey would've hoped for more after that big partnership between Dan Lawrence and Ollie Pope.

  16. 'Jennings has stepped up'published at 15:26 17 May

    Lancashire 187-3 v Durham

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Keaton Jennings talked about senior players stepping up in the wake of Lancashire's third successive defeat, and he's done just that for Lancashire today.

His second century of the summer providing the foundations for what he hopes will be a commanding first innings total.

They'll have been some nervous home supporters before when Durham won the toss and stuck Lancashire in under cloudy skies with Potts, Raine and Stokes charging in, but they've been able to enjoy the afternoon sun and some Lancashire runs.

  17. 'Matthew Waite a great character'published at 15:26 17 May

    Surrey 194-8 v Worcs

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

He hasn't throughout his entire career put together a huge string of first-class games.

He's been fit this season, he's played every game, I hope I'm not tempting fate and he's found a rhythm and found a bit of consistency.

He got a 100 in the last game and I think we're seeing the all-rounder that Worcestershire really hoped they'd signed when he came from Yorkshire.

He's a great character off the field as well and is probably having his best spell as a bowler in his career so far, not just today but in the last two or three weeks.

  18. 50 for Michael Burgesspublished at 15:24 17 May

    Essex v Warwickshire 182-6

Michael Burgess (Warwicks)Image source, Rex Features

And now Michael Burgess follows Ed Barnard to 50 - and he does it in style, pumping Matt Critchley over long on for six!

Both these Warwickshire batters have played the spinners well and they're digging their side out of a hole here.

Burgess goes to his half-century from just 49 balls and he's caught Ed Barnard up now on 52.

  19. Postpublished at 15:24 17 May

    Somerset 236-4 v Kent

A fortuitous four runs to James Rew, who aims a loose drive at Joey Evison and the ball runs away fine off an inside edge.

He'll keep the strike with a single off the last ball of the over.

  20. Postpublished at 15:20 17 May

    Surrey 196-8 v Worcs

Matthew Waite nearly has a fourth scalp as Kemar Roach digs out a yorker to end the 49th over.

Joe Leach continues from the Pavilion End and there are plenty of singles here for Jordan Clark - and he takes one into the off side.

Roach leaves the ball with a little flourish of the bat and then picks up two runs off the last ball of the over, steering it wide of the slips.
