ESPN Cricinfo's Matt Roller: "The Champions Trophy format is so cut-throat. Pakistan waited 28 years for a home game at an ICC event and now likely have to beat India to avoid their next one being a dead-rubber."

Khushdil Shah is not giving up. It's such a shame that no-one has stuck with him.

  3. Pak 225-7published at 43 overs

Khushdil brings his four count up to nine, adding two more from this Matt Henry over.

He fires one past mid-wicket then lifts the ball over the mid-off fielder - they jump, but don't stand a chance of catching it.

Playing the short ball well, Khushdil Shah.

When he first come in, he looked tentative about it, but now it looks like he has extra time.

    A rearguard half-century.

The returning Will O'Rourke cramps Khushdil for room with his fourth delivery, but the Pakistan batter gets a pull away - it drops just short of Devon Conway as he tries to take the catch at mid-wicket and breaks for four.

Four more comes from the following delivery as he turns the ball to the square-leg ropes.

This Pakistan team is on hand to embarrass themselves at this tournament and lose every game because our players have no fight and no spirit in them.

Shaheen Shah Afridi trying to hook the ball into the leg side and he swings himself so hard that he almost does a pirouette.

The wicketkeeper takes a simple catch. Pakistan have not started well in this Champions Trophy.

    Nicked behind!

Matt Henry returns to the New Zealand attack and picks up his first wicket of the evening, seeing Shaheen top edge his final delivery straight to Tom Latham behind the stumps.

Khushdil had brought up on strike with a single to point that brought up Pakistan's 200 and Shaheen was trying to end the over with a big lift over the leg side.

He couldn't make a connection, and another Pakistan batter is heading to the dressing room.

Pakistan need to swing for the hills. It's the only thing they can do.

The whole chase for me has been peculiar.

Ten overs to go, and this game is over as a contest - over two runs a ball required.

Will Pakistan bother to bat to the end of the innings, or will they try to go out in a blaze of boundaries?

    Swatted away!

Glenn Phillips offers one up outside off and Khushdil uses the room to lift the delivery over long-on with a slog sweep for six.

  12. Pak 187-6published at 39 overs

    Michael Bracewell's last over.

The Pakistan batters hurry through a couple of twos before the spinning all-rounder sends down four dot balls to end his spell.

Bracewell finishes with figures of 1-38, a decent day at the office for him.

Aamer Iqbal: Has there ever been a tournament where the hosts have lost every game? This Pakistan side do not look very good at bowling or batting.

  14. Pak 183-6published at 38 overs

No more fireworks from the rest of the over, with the Pakistan batters taking a pair of singles from the last two balls of the over.

The required run-rate is now up to 11.50 runs an over.

That was massive from Shaheen Shah Afridi.

He comes down the pitch and whacks it, he's on one leg. It nearly landed in our commentary box - the biggest six of the day.

    Wallop!

Shaheen Shah Afridi makes light of the efforts of his batter colleagues, advancing out of his crease to smear Nathan Smith's first ball down the ground for six.

Khushdil gets another pair of fours from Michael Bracewell's ninth over, sweeping loftily on the stretch to send the ball to the fine leg boundary then sweeping from a low position to fire the final delivery through mid-wicket.

  18. Pak 166-6published at 36 overs

    Khushdil fours book-end Santner's over.

He pulls the first ball to the mid-wicket ropes then reverse sweeps the final delivery to the point boundary.

Michael Bracewell and his 1940s RAF Wing Commander moustache is back into the attack after drinks.

He sends down a lovely turning delivery to beat the bat of Kushdil Shah, who faces a desperate job alongside new batter Shaheen Shah Afridi.

The crowd don't seem to be holding out much hope - they're streaming out the gates in Karachi.

Thanks for all your contributions to our request for bespectacled cricketers. The focal point for a selectors' meeting was the local branch of the opticians.

Since current Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed - the original source of our get involved - has ditched the glasses he does not make the cut.

No place for arguably the most famous polish of a pair of glasses in cricket ever as left-arm spinner Jack Leach controversially fails to gain selection as well.
