The strike-rate was not good enough from Babar Azam when you're chasing 300.

In the powerplay, they were stuck. You can understand why he was playing that shot because he's trying to get things moving.

    Babar c Williamson b Santner 64 (Pak 153-6)

That's pretty much that for Pakistan.

Babar Azam departs, attempting a sweep to Santner and top-edging to Kane Williamson to end his 90-ball innings.

He found the boundary with a similar shot two balls earlier, but didn't get hold of this one.

The players will take drinks, you rather suspect it's just delaying the inevitable for the batting side.

These two, Babar Azam and Khushdil Shah, have got to bat for at least 10 overs.

  4. Pak 146-5published at 33 overs

Khushdil runs a couple of swift twos either side of cutting Smith away for four.

16 from Smith's second, by the required run-rate is still up at 10.29 an over.

Well bowled by Mitchell Santner. Quicker and flatter.

Tayyab Tahir, shovels it straight to short mid-wicket.

    Tayyab c Williamson b Santner 1 (Pak 128-5)

It's a short visit to the crease from Tayyab Tahir...

His innings last just five balls, ended by a fast, skiddy delivery from Mitchell Santner that the Pakistan batter fails to judge.

He's falling backwards as he smears the ball through to Kane Williamson at short mid-wicket.

Pakistan have got to that stage where they need to take risks.

  10. Pak 128-4published at 31 overs

Tayyab Tahir in at six, he takes a single from the final ball of the over to retain the strike.

Meanwhile a black cat strolls across the outfield - ominous...

    It had to happen.

Salman Ali Agha was trying hard. It was a hard length and a hard ball to go for the pull shot. It was a good innings from Salman - 42 off 28 balls.

    Salman falls!

The batter spoons Smith's delivery up in the air for a simple catch for Michael Bracewell at mid-wicket.

A sharp innings, but Pakistan needed more from him if they were going to pull off the unlikeliest of turnarounds.

    Pak 125-3

Up comes the half-century for Babar, taking a single into the leg side off Nathan Smith's first ball in this innings.

It's not an especially quick one - coming off 81 deliveries, including 49 dot balls.

  14. Pak 124-3published at 30 overs

    197 needed from 20 overs

Santner's fifth over is a little quieter, going for five including a couple of twos.

  15. Pak 119-3published at 29 overs

Cute from Salman, who's averaging 82 in ODIs in 2025.

He guides Phillips' delivery through third - Will Young can't gather initially but then chases the ball down, stopping it off just short of the rope as the Pakistan batters run three.

Babar adds a single to bring the 50 partnership up, after 15 runs from the over.

That's a massive strike from Salman Ali Agha. A gorgeous shot.

Not only was there good footwork, but he played it against the spin, over cover.

Tremendous batting. At one end we see Babar Azam struggling, but at the other end, Salman Ali Agha is helping himself with fours and sixes.

    Salman's getting into his groove!

He lashes the third ball of Glenn Phillips' over for six over cover, then smacks a one-bounce four through mid-wicket.

Salman Ali Agha has played some nice shots.

The pressure is on and we've seen him bat sensibly. He has a clear head and he's thinking clearly in a tough situation.

If you show a bit of intent, the opposition can feel the pressure. Can this continue for Pakistan?

Babar Azam really has to do whacking from his end.

  19. Pak 104-3published at 28 overs

Consecutive fours for the second over in a row for Salman, cutting Santner through point then adjusting to send his next delivery through third.

Babar takes a risk off the final ball of the over with a tap and run single to mid-wicket - Williamson's pick-up isn't clean, if it had been then the Pakistan batter might have been trouble at the non-striker's end.

A good shot, the intention from Salman Ali Agha was to hit it into the air. Nathan Smith was wrong-footed by the spin on the ball.

Salman Ali Agha, good batting. You have to pre-empt.
