  1. Pak 94-3published at 27 overs

See? I told you they would!

Salman Agha hits Glenn Phillips for consecutive fours, lashing to the cover boundary - where the fielder can't prevent the ball dribbling onto the sponge - then paddling over his shoulder.

The required run-rate drops to a mere 9.86 - game on!

  2. Pak 84-3published at 26 overs

    Thanks Tim.

Just a single from Santner's third over.

Pakistan's required run-rate is up at 9.87 an over - they've gone at 3.23 thus far.

I'm sure they'll unleash soon, right?

    Right?

It's been pretty mundane stuff from Pakistan. Thankfully, bounding off the long run full of enthusiasm is Mike Peter. He'll talk you through the remainder of the game.

It tells you about the strength of this batting line-up - not enough confidence in their skills.

With limited-overs cricket it's about being aggressive.

  5. Pak 83-3published at 25 overs

Pakistan's approach here has been baffling. Conditions do look harder to bat but the overall lack of intent must be a worry.

Babar Azam and Salman Ali Agha nudge and nurdle three singless off Glenn Phillips' latest over.

It's not going to be enough.

The pitch is offering the bowlers a lot more this innings.

  7. Pak 80-3published at 24 overs

We've now had a 100 dot balls in this innings. Pakistan get a fortunate boundary off Mitchell Satner after the ball turned past the bat of Salman Agha as he attempts to work it to leg and slides beyond wicketkeeper Tom Latham.

It should go down as byes, Salman is credited with the runs.

    Very disappointing from Pakistan.

We have not seen any positive intent playing at home, on a surface that should have helped you.

Pakistan's worm needs to uncoil itself from whatever hole it is buried in if they are to get close to New Zealand's.

    Target 321

Michael Bracewell keeps it tight as runs continue to be hard to come by in the middle orders. Babar Azam picks up a couple with an inside edge.

  11. Pak 70-3published at 22 overs

New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner is right on the money with his left-arm spin. Just a single off the over. This is pretty tepid stuff from Pakistan.

Fakhar Zaman got himself in a tangle. He exposed all of his stumps.

Pakistan find themselves in a little bit of trouble. You feel Babar Azam will need to stay out there for a while.

A strange old innings. The tempo was not set in the powerplay.

    Fakhar b Bracewell 24 (Pak 69-3)

Fakhar Zaman goes for another slog sweep down on one knee, shows his stumps, and is bowled by Michael Bracewell.

Barely any turn, but perhaps pushed through a little bit quicker by the Kiwi spinner and it skips through to hit the top of middle and leg.

A rare drop, but New Zealand have been superb in the field on the whole.

Poor Matt Henry's catch has been made to look regulation by this incredible 'Superman' effort from Glenn Phillips.

    Wow.

Have I just seen a New Zealand player put a catch down? Extraordinary.

It hung in the air a long time.

  17. dropped catch

Fakhar dropped on 24published at 19.4 overs

Glenn Phillips shuffles through his run-up with a minimum amount of fuss.

Another slog sweep from Fakhar Zaman to his fourth ball and it goes skywards down towards to deep mid-wicket where Devon Conway comes bounding in.

Conway dives forwards and gets the ball into his hands, but it pops out. Fakhar had started to walk off - he thought he was toast.

219 dot balls in this match, so far.

If we see another 80 in this innings, half of the match will have been dot balls.

  19. Pak 65-2published at 19 overs

Fakhar Zaman goes down on one knee and heaves Michael Bracewell across the line to pick up another four with a slog sweep. Pakistan are going to need a whole lot more of that.

  20. Pak 60-2published at 18 overs

Five singles off Glenn Phillips' latest over so at least Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam are rotating the strike a bit more now.
