Right, that is that for this one folks. Thanks, as ever, for joining us.

South Africa seal an 80-run victory, and in doing so dangle one foot into the knock-out rounds.

Speaking of knock-outs, that is Scotland's chances of progressing beyond the group stages over and done. However, they do still have a game against England to come at the weekend, and that promises to be a wonderful occasion.

South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt: "It was excellent from us all-round, I couldn't have asked for much more from my team.

"We did speak about our net run-rate, which made it difficult for me to decide at the toss, but in the end we backed ourselves to get runs on the board and defend them well, which we did.

"We wanted to be ruthless and show what we could do in all aspects so I'm very happy with how we did that.

"I back our bowling attack in all conditions. So far, every pitch has played differently and we've had to adapt but it's really nice for me to have so many options.

"Bangladesh is huge for us next, we know we need a win after losing to England but we'll take a huge amount of confidence from today."

  3. 'It is always going to be tough'published at 14:15 British Summer Time 9 October

Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce: "It is the little moments throughout the game there was chances we have put down which have been costly. Then we lost a few wickets early and got really behind the game.

"It is really tough when you're not used to being under that sort of pressure."

On South Africa: "It is great to share your knowledge with them and they're fantastic players as well, but you know when you come up against them it is going to be tough."

On facing England next: "It is always going to be tough, but I think back to Sharjah it will be different conditions compared to today. We will learn the little things and put it into practice."

  4. 'I feel very confident'published at 14:14 British Summer Time 9 October

Player of the match, South Africa all-rounder Marizanne Kapp: "I was a bit nervous at the start of my innings to be honest! We knew the wicket was going to be a little bit slow, but luckily it came off for me today.

"The heat has been really tough for us all, so thankfully our day games are out of the way now. We have been working on some more options with the bat against the spinners and slow bowling that we are going to face a lot.

"I feel very confident, I'm at my best when I focus on the basics. It was a good total in the end, we would've liked maybe 180 considering where we were after the powerplay. But there's always plenty to learn."

  5. Magnicent Mlabapublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 9 October

Thereafter Scotland crumbled at the hands of the tournament's leading wicket-taker Nonkululeko Mlaba. She was almost unplayable, her four overs bringing three wickets and costing just 12 runs.

  6. The Bryce wasn't right...published at 14:10 British Summer Time 9 October

167 was always a big ask for Scotland. It would have been a record chase from them in T20 cricket.

And their task became nigh on impossible when both Bryce sisters offered return catches to Chloe Tryon.

First Sarah, fresh from keeping wicket in 36 degree heat, did this...

And then captain Kathryn did something very similar...

  7. A team total...published at 14:08 British Summer Time 9 October

There were no half-centuries in South Africa's 166-5.

Anneke Bosch made just 11 before falling to Darcey Carter.

But Tazmin Brits joint-top scored with 43 from 35 deliveries. She was dismissed by Olivia Bell.

Marizanne Kapp also made 43. It took her only 24 balls. Eventually Carter and Kathryn Bryce combined to remove her.

  8. The perfect day for Laura Wolvaardtpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 9 October

South Africa's skipper won the toss and elected to bat. But she had just a couple of runs on the board when she was given a lifeline. It was very early on, but it might have been a turning point...

Wolvaardt ended up smashing 40 from just 27 balls including this six off of Olivia Bell.

Eventually she fell to this brilliant Bell grab.

  9. Table topping South Africapublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 9 October

South Africa skip above England into top spot owing to a superior net-run-rate. England do, though, have two games to play, while South Africa have just the one left.

West Indies also have two matches left, but they trail South Africa by two points and have an inferior net-run-rate.

Convincing and comfortable. Brilliant performance from Laura Wolvaardt's side. Win the toss; post a big total; skittle the oppo. The perfect recipe, really.

Not Scotland's finest couple of hours but they will learn a lot from this.

  12. wicket

Maqsood c Mlaba b de Klerk 7 (Sco 86 all out)

Can't keep Mlaba out of the game. Good catch at short-third.

  13. Sco 84-9published at 17 overs

Nonkululeko Mlaba finishes with 3 for 12 from her four overs. She has been virtually unplayable here. Little wonder she is currently the tournament's leading wicket taker.

Eight wickets for Mlaba in this tournament.

One of the things they have been using is weighted balls [in training] so they can get her arm position in the right position.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.1 overs

    Fraser c Bosch b Mlaba 14 (Sco 82-9)

Mlaba is brought back for her final over to finish Scotland off. She picks up the wicket of Fraser with her first ball, although Anneke Bosch deserves plenty of credit for a brilliant grab diving forward at point.

  16. Sco 82-2published at 16 overs

A little bit of late resistance from Maqsood and Fraser, both of whom are playing with beaming grins. Will South Africa be frustrated? Maybe a little, but not too much.

Every run that Scotland score is a run which England will be cheering on.

I wonder if Scotland know about that...

  18. Sco 78-8published at 15 overs

Are my eyes deceiving me or is that more than two whole overs since Scotland last lost a wicket? Ok, perhaps that is a little harsh. It hasn't been their best day, though.

I think Wolvaardt saved it. The sponge doesn't move at all and it doesn't seem to be disturbed.

A quick break while the TV umpires check what looks like some fine Laura Wolvaardt fielding. Saves her team a couple of runs.
