  1. 'What a delivery from Robinson'published at 14:08 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex 122 v Hants 226 & 31-3

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Radio Sussex

It's an absolute peach from Ollie Robinson. It's coming over the wicket, angling the ball across and just it's pitched on the off stump and straightened and not for the first time today we've seen the stump cartwheeling.

    What a delivery.

There's one thing to have helpful conditions but the bowlers have exploited them very well.

  2. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Tauntonpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 9 September

    Somerset 266-4 v Yorkshire

We have had four a bit more overs than the 42 we managed on day one at Taunton but the rain has returned.

The players leave the field with Tom Abell 55 not out and Lewis Goldsworthy on 53 - they have been together since Jack White's third ball of the day brought him the wicket of James Rew.

Let's hope there will be some more cricket later on.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 9 September

    Orr b Robinson 14 (Sussex 122 v Hants 226 & 31-3)

Ollie Robinson switches ends and gets a wicket with his fifth ball!

It's an absolute thunderbolt, pitching on a length and nipping away just a touch to beat the bat and uproot off stump.

Ali Orr goes for 14 and Hampshire captain Ben Brown once again stands on the burning deck.

  4. 50 runs

for Dean Elgarpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 9 September

    Essex 90-2 v Durham 333

Dean Elgar brings up his 76th first class half century with a beautifully-timed clip for four to deep backward square off Ben Raine, his eighth four.

It took him 107 balls to get there, but he's going through the gears here, picking up pace.

  5. Postpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 9 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 165-5

Tom Taylor returns to the attack and Kyle Verreynne drives through cover point neatly for four.

Lyndon James moves smartly to 24 with a superbly timed drive down the ground, which mercifully evades the stumps at the other end.

Four more runs driven from the crease to skim the ball through cover.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 9 September

    Wells c Finch b Parkinson 80 - Kent 293 v Lancashire 171-5

Kent have a precious wicket, Matt Parkinson flights one in, Luke Wells jabs at the ball in his crease but can only edge into the gloves of lurking keeper Harry Finch.

10 fours and a six in his 127-ball stay, but he has to go.

Michael Jones and George Balderson are in the middle trying to salvage the first innings, still trailing by 122.

  7. Sometimes that feeling can have an impact'published at 14:02 British Summer Time 9 September

    Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 248

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

The momentum at the end of this innings was with Warwickshire and sometimes that feeling can have a bit of an impact on a game.

  8. 50 runs

for Lewis Goldsworthypublished at 87.2 overs

    Somerset 266-4 v Yorks

    Lewis GoldsworthyImage source, Getty Images

We were surprised to discover that this is, in fact, Lewis Goldsworthy's first Championship game of the season.

He marks it with a 50 off 146 balls as he clips a leg-stump half-volley from Jordan Thompson away for four.

His partnership with Tom Abell is now worth 111.

  9. Postpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex 122 v Hants 226 & 31-2

Four runs to Toby Albert, who moves to 15 with a glance to fine leg off Sean Hunt.

Hunt beats Albert outside off stump with a ball that angles in and then goes straight through to the keeper and Sussex captain John Simpson.

Albert has one hand off the bat to the last ball, which bounces awkwardly on a length and is patted down to the ground.

Still tough going to score runs here.

  10. wicket

    WICKET - Warwickshire 248 all-outpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 9 September

    Hannon Dalby lbw b Lawes 7 - Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 248

Tom Lawes finishes with 4-42 after launching a full-toss which thumps Ollie Hannon-Dalby just above the ankle, right infront of leg stump.

    That'll be that.

A brave push from the Bears to find a batting point but they fall two runs short.

Nathan Gilchrist is stranded on 25* from 24 balls with five boundaries.

A one-innings shootout to follow at The Oval, let's just hope Mother Nature doesn't spoil the show over the next 48 hours.

  11. Division Two updatepublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 9 September

A couple of wickets to tell you about....

Middlesex have lost Ryan Higgins for 31 at Lord's, caught behind trying to drive a ball from Zak Chappell and they are 140-4 against Derbyshire.

At Canterbury, Matt Quinn bowled Matty Hurst with one that nipped back off the seam and Lancashire are 170-4, in reply to Kent's 293 all out.

  12. Postpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 9 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 152-5

Immaculate line and length from Matthew Waite and Lyndon James blocks down the ground.

An attempted off drive is stopped at mid off.

Close! An expansive drive from James and the ball runs off an inside edge past a diving keeper (Roderick) for four runs.

Not the most convincing way to pass 150 but they all count and Notts are just 30 adrift.

Good ball from Waite, moving in off the pitch.

  13. BEARS LEAD AT SURREYpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 9 September

    Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 244-9

Nathan Gilchrist picks up consecutive boundaries off Jordan Clark with some streaky edges.

The first is a thick edge past the slips to the third rope and then an inside edge flies past the timbers and past the dive of Ben Foakes to the fine leg fence.

Two balls later Gilchrist middles one for a lovely drive through cover for another four and he finishes the over with a flourish, another swish through the covers.

16 off the over, Gilchrist has 25 from 24 balls and Warwickshire lead.

Two more runs needed for an unlikely batting point.

Gilchrist ingratiating himself to his new teammates on debut.

  14. Postpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex 122 v Hants 226 & 25-2

First bowling change. Sean Hunt is coming on in place of Ollie Robinson, who has bowled four overs in that opening spell.

Hunt is a bit leg side and Toby Albert taps the ball away for two.

The third ball is angled across the right-hander and is left alone.

    The lead is 129.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 9 September

    Westley lbw b Parkinson 32 - Essex 83-2 v Durham 333

Tom Westley plays and misses at a flighted delivery from slow left armer Callum Parkinson, he adjusts and clips the next ball to the fine leg boundary for four, but then Parkinson gets his revenge, looping one onto middle stump and then straightening past the skipper's forward defensive, hitting the pad infront of middle and off.

Up goes the finger, the 76-run stand is broken.

    Charlie Allison joins Dean Elgar.

  16. Postpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 9 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 141-5

Four runs to Kyle Verreynne, guiding a slightly wide ball to deep third.

Another drive into the stumps at the non-striker's end.

Is that the third time this has happened? Dave Bracegirdle on BBC Hereford and Worcester says yes.

  17. Division Two updatepublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 9 September

Steady progress by Middlesex since lunch and they are 129-3 after 43 overs against Derbyshire, with Leus du Plooy and Ryan Higgins both on 25.

Luke Wells is now 60 not out - including nine fours - in Lancashire's 147-3 after 41 overs against Kent at Canterbury.

Northamptonshire are 28-0 in the ninth after earlier bowling out Glamorgan for 467 at Wantage Road.

  18. 'A must not lose game'published at 13:47 British Summer Time 9 September

    Essex 78-1 v Durham 333

It's probably a slight exaggeration to say it's a must-win game but it's certainly a must not lose game. In cricket there's a big difference between winning and losing.

A draw would do neither side too much damage but obviously a win would help them enormously. With there being a 12 point gap between them at the moment a defeat would be especially inconvenient at best to Durham.

Essex will have to look forward to Warwickshire away and Somerset here at Chelmsford, both of whom are going to present stiff challenges.

  19. Postpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex 122 v Hants 226 & 20-2

A profitable over for Hampshire, who take nine runs off Ollie Robinson's fourth.

Toby Albert pulls one square for four and gets one more pulled in front of square.

Four runs to Ali Orr, playing across the pads and clipping through square leg.

    124 ahead.

  20. Postpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 9 September

    Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 229-9

Nathan Gilchrist picks up a boundary with a cover drive off a full-toss from Dan Worrall and then Ollie Hannon-Dalby, one of the biggest humans around, shrugs under a bouncer from Worrall before playing a cover drive of his own for four.

This pesky pair have hauled Bears within 17 of parity.
