    Worcs 182 v Notts 116-3

Jack Haynes defends Tom Taylor down the ground, still looking for his first run after 15 deliveries.

Haynes drives beautifully to extra cover but can't quite pierce the field.

    18 deliveries faced.

    Maiden over.

  2. Division Two updatepublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 9 September

    Kent 293 v Lancashire 114-3

Luke Wells has brought up his half-century from 95 balls with a lovely sweep off former teammate Matt Parkinson for four through square leg.

Parkinson does has something to celebrate two balls later however as skipper Marcus Harris charges down the track, misses the ball and sees it turn back into his stumps to send him on his way for 32.

  3. Northants begin their first inningspublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 9 September

    Glamorgan 467 v Northants 0-0

Ricardo Vasconcelos opens the innings with his captain Luke Procter.

Timm van der Gugten to bowl to Vasconelos.

  4. 'A stuttering morning for Nottinghamshire'published at 12:29 British Summer Time 9 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 116-3

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

I'm sure at the start of play Notts would have quietly been hoping that they could have gone on parity by lunch but Worcestershire have bowled well, they've pegged away at a consistent line and length.

Apart from one Taylor over where Freddie McCann helped himself to three boundaries and that six from Joe Clarke, it's been a stuttering morning for Nottinghamshire.

They've had to dig in and defend their stumps for long periods.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 8.1 overs

    Budinger b M Taylor 24 (Leics 35-1 v Glos)

Sol Budinger has mixed some great shots with one or two very risky ones, but now his brief cameo is over.

He remains stuck on the crease as a good length ball from Matt Taylor beats his defensive push and hits middle and off.

Ian Holland has to come out for the last couple of minutes before lunch.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 9 September

    Bamber c Lawrence b Atkinson 2 - Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 204-8

Ethan Bamber's tricky spell is over.

He digs out a leg-stump yorker from Gus Atkinson, who is bowling very well, but can only chip to Dan Lawrence who takes a neat catch to his right at mid-wicket.

Surrey need one more for maximum bowling points and will be thinking about a first innings lead here, still 42 ahead.

Ollie Hannon-Dalby joins Will Young, who is 64* but running out of partners.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 9 September

    Robinson lbw Fortuin 0 (Sussex 115-9 v Hants 226)

    First ball!

Ollie Robinson misses a sweep in front of the stumps and Bjorn Fortuin has two in two!

Jaydev Unadkat is surrounded by close catchers but survives the hat trick ball with a block down the ground.

But the Sussex ship has nearly sailed.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 9 September

    Hudson-Prentice b Fortuin 7 (Sussex 115-8 v Hants 226)

Fynn Hudson-Prentice plays back to Bjorn Fortuin but get the wrong line and the ball thuds into middle stump.

    Ollie Robinson is in next.

  9. Postpublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 9 September

    Essex 40-1 v Durham 333

Bit of spin for Durham, with leggy Callum Parkinson coming on and conceding just a single from his first six balls.

Dean Elgar has 28* from 64 balls, though there were five boundaries and just 11 scoring shots in that time.

  10. 'Gloucestershire are finding the edge but no wickets'published at 12:20 British Summer Time 9 September

    Leics 21-0 v Glos 482

    Ed Seabourne
    Commentator on BBC Radio Bristol

Gloucestershire are beating the beating the bat and they are finding the edge but I'm not sure it is particularly encouraging when you feel as if you could have taken a wicket and six overs in you haven't.

It's just not falling for that slip cordon at the moment.

  11. Postpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 9 September

    Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 204-7

It's a lovely day in south London, but Ethan Bamber is not having a particularly pleasant time.

Dan Worrall is bowling at middle-stump and trying to move the ball back past off-stump, and has succeeded a couple of times in this over, beating Bamber's forward defence both times, but missing the edge by millimetres.

He has two from 10 deliveries, with Will Young 64* from 155 balls.

  12. Postpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 9 September

    Worcs 182 v Notts 111-3

Ben Allison is back in the attack for the Pears and Joe Clarke drives the first ball into off stump at the non-striker's end.

Again, no contact from the bowler on the way.

It's getting a little darker at New Road. Just saying.

  13. GLAMORGAN ALL OUT FOR 467published at 12:18 British Summer Time 9 September

    Glamorgan 467 v Northants

Nirvan Ramesh wraps up the innings in the 122nd over with a catch via a top-edged sweep from the blade of Asitha Fernando.

Justin Broad takes the catch and we'll be back in 10 minutes.

  14. 'Indifferent spells for bowlers'published at 12:16 British Summer Time 9 September

    Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 203-7

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

We've had spells this morning where it's felt like the bowlers have been on top and then other periods where it's gone quiet.

There have been a few deliveries that have kept a bit low. Not many, just the odd one, but enough that would have your attention if your were batting for any length of time.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 30.2 overs

    de Caires c Guest b Haydon 46 (Middx 89-3 v Derbys 283)

What a moment for Rory Haydon.

He takes his first Championship wicket with a good one which leaves Josh de Caires fractionally off the pitch and takes a thin edge on the way to the keeper.

A setback for Middlesex just a few minutes before lunch.

  16. Postpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 9 September

    Essex 38-1 v Durham 333

Sam Conners is bowling really well.

He's unfortunate to find the inside edge of Dean Elgar's bat first up, with the ball flashing across his stumps and away to the long leg boundary for four runs.

Conners responds by beating the bat as the veteran Elgar comes forward in defence and then thumps the former South Africa captain on the pads to end the over, though James Middlebrook says it's too high, which it was.

    Somerset 211-4 v Yorkshire

Lewis Goldsworthy and Tom Abell have posted a 50 partnership for Somerset, Abell tucking Matthew Revis away for a single to bring it up.

Abell follows that with a superb late cut off spinner Dan Moriarty for four.

Think of any of the game's great wristy batsmen - Zaheer Abbas, for example - and they'd all have been happy with that one.

  18. 'Pope has taken both that have come his way'published at 12:15 British Summer Time 9 September

    Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 202-7

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Just a word for Ollie Pope because he dropped that catch off Will Young yesterday but he's taken both the ones that have come his way safely today.

  19. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex 106-7 v Hants 226

Kyle Abbott returns to the Hampshire attack and Fynn Hudson-Prentice defends into the off side.

He moves forward and across to leave a ball that strikes him on the pad but it's not given out.

Looked to be outside the line.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 9 September

    Booth c Pope b Atkinson 10 - Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 202-7

    Gus AtkinsonImage source, Rex Features

Gus Atkinson returns to the attack and takes a wicket with his first ball.

Michael Booth tries to defend but the ball is moving away from him, finds the edge and Ollie Pope takes a nice catch low to his right at second slip.

Ethan Bamber joins Will Young, who has 64*.

The deficit is still 44 with three wickets in hand.
