Some players perform better when there is some animosity, Peter Manley & Gerwyn Price spring to mind. I don't think Luke Humphries is one of these, just play the board not the opponent!

Yet again Peter Wright essentially tells Luke Humphries that he doesn't think he can take out a big checkout, laying up rather than go for a big finish himself.

It works again with Humphries unable to take out 161 for the second time in the match and Wright returns to get double six to edge ahead.

Peter Wright has changed his darts between sets and two 140s in his first three visits suggests it's a decent move.

A reminder to Luke Humphries that Snakebite is going nowhere in this match.

  6. How much do darts players make?published at 22:31 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

A very decent wage, if you're at the top level.

Luke Humphries would become the first player in PDC history to reach £2m on the two-year Order of Merit system if he clinches back-to-back World Championship titles on 3 January.

Both he and Luke Littler have trousered more than £1m in prize money this year, and they will earn more through sponsorship deals, merchandise and exhibitions.

Luke Humphries tops the 2024 prize money table with more than £1.38m, ahead of Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, Rob Cross and Michael Smithth

Snakebite was also better on the doubles, hitting three of four compared to Humphries' two of six, so it's simple to see why he came out on top in that one.
