Brock Whiston, speaking to Channel 4 after her SM8 200m individual medley gold: "I had something to prove to myself and I did it.

"I was quite worried [during the breaststroke] because in 2019 when I raced Alice [Tai] I overtook her on the [breaststroke] but this time I couldn't see her so I was like 'I just got to swim my race and just go for it' and I did, so really happy.

"I never thought I could win it [during the race]. I just had to go in and swim my race and I said my coach if I do faster than this morning and I win any sort of medal, it'd be an achievement, so yeah, buzzing!"

Great Britain's Megan Shackleton is through to the last eight of the women's WS4 singles and will next face world number one Borislava Peric-Rankovic of Serbia on Wednesday.

Shackleton said: "She's a great player and I'm well aware I'm going to have to bring a really good game to the table but I'm excited.

"It's my first quarter-final at a Paralympic Games and I'm feeling in good shape so I'm excited. I feel the expectation that I believe I can get through the quarter-finals.

"I've got a lot of respect for her so I know I'll need to bring my best game but I'm excited to get out there and fight for a medal."

Matt Bush pays tribute to the GB Taekwondo physios for getting him "back to where I needed to be" after winning taekwondo gold at the Paralympics in Paris.

Bush beat Neutral Paralympic Athlete Aliaskhab Ramazanov in the men's K44 +80kg final on Saturday.

The 35-year-old, who has won two world titles, was making his Paralympic debut after he had missed the Tokyo Games three years ago because of a knee injury.

He had also missed out on competing in the F46 javelin at Rio 2016 because of a shoulder injury.

Women's preliminary round - Great Britain 47-62 China

Some reaction now from ParalympicGB's women's wheelchair basketball team, who lost their final pool match to China earlier today.

They have won one and lost two of their three pool matches and play in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.

Laurie Williams said: "I think that's a pretty tough one to take. Going into it, we knew it would be a battle. I think maybe we expected a better outcome than that.

"We've really left everything on the floor, I believe that. We gave it our all. I think again it just comes down to shot conversion. The Chinese are incredible shooters, they shot the ball really well today and we didn't. I think that's the story there."

Lucy Robinson added: "It's a tough loss. I think we had it in us to win today, our defence was incredible. Our shots didn't drop. But every single line-up that went on did so well, all of our fives. Anyone who needs to come on does their job.

"Every single person gave 100% and we can't ask for more. Unfortunately our best wasn't the win which is a big, big shame but we're going to go on and win the quarter-finals."

At halfway Whiston was in sixth place, with Tai five seconds clear of the pack and Whiston over 10 seconds behind Tai.

Whiston's final two legs of that race were nothing short of spectacular. She closed in on Tai and the two were all but level at 150m.

The final 50m saw the duo and Viktoriia Ishchiulova swim neck and neck, but Whiston pipped both to take gold.

Ishchiulova ends with silver and Tai, 24 hours after winning a gold, adds a bronze to her collection.
