  2. Naismith 'may go to bench'published at 15:56 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    HT: Motherwell 1-0 Hearts

    Brian McLauchlin
BBC Sport Scotland at Fir Park

Stuart Kettlewell will be a happy man at half-time after watching his team put Hearts to the sword in the opening 45 minutes. It also appears he has found a distinct weakness in the opposition defence as the back post area has been exploited at every opportunity.

Steven Naismith will have to have some stern words with his players as they simply have been lacking in any creativity up front and it may not be too long before he turns to the bench unless things change early on.

  3. Aberdeen 'deserving' of leadpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    HT: Aberdeen 1-0 Kilmarnock

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Sport Scotland at Pittodrie

Not the best game of football but the blustery conditions certainly haven't helped on that front.

Aberdeen are deserving of their half-time lead, they have dominated proceedings so far at Pittodrie.

The Dons have carried all the threat and intent - perhaps Jimmy Thelin will be wanting a little bit more from a cutting edge point of view, but that is possibly being a bit harsh.

Kilmarnock have struggled to get into this game so far - the big positive for them is the fact that while they are only one goal down, there is always a route back into things.

  5. HALF-TIME Aberdeen 1-0 Kilmarnockpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

Pape Habib Gueye's headed goal officially separates the sides, but in reality there has been a gulf in quality between Aberdeen and Kilmarnock in the opening 45 minutes.

  6. HALF-TIME Motherwell 1-0 Heartspublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

Motherwell go into the break ahead and it's more than thoroughly deserved.

Hearts have been all at sea defensively, with Motherwell taking full advantage from set piece situations - which is where their Paul McGinn goal came from.

The visitors haven't been much better on the ball either. Only one chance of note, and it fell to Blair Spittal in the box rather than being created.

  7. YELLOW CARDSpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Motherwell 1-0 Hearts

Yellow cards for Andy Halliday and Frankie Kent.

Into stoppage time and it still seems that Motherwell will be the next team to score.

  8. Postpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Aberdeen 1-0 Kilmarnock

There are few signs of Kilmarnock coming back into this.

Aberdeen have lost their early intensity but are comfortable in their lead and occasionally threatening to add to it.

    Motherwell 1-0 Hearts

Hearts are hanging on at the moment. Tawanda Maswanhise has a header at the back post blocked by Gerald Taylor at the last gasp.

Steven Naismith might just take 1-0 at half-time at the moment. His side are on the ropes.

  10. Postpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Motherwell 1-0 Hearts

    Cleared off the line!

A Hearts high ball into the box is collected by former Motherwell favourite Blair Spittal and he shoots from close range - but Ewan Wilson is in the right place at the right time.

Spittal almost bit the hand that used to feed him.

  11. Hearts strugglingpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Motherwell 1-0 Hearts

Hearts' marking is almost non-existent at the latest Motherwell corner. BBC Sportsound pundit Michael Stewart isn't impressed and no wonder.

Seven shots for Motherwell so far. Just one for Hearts.

  12. Watson blow for Killiepublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Aberdeen 1-0 Kilmarnock

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Sport Scotland at Pittodrie

An early change for Kilmarnock, with David Watson being replaced by Bruce Anderson.

You would have to assume it is because Watson has picked up some sort of knock. If he has, that is the last thing Killie need before Thursday's huge game with Copenhagen.

    Motherwell 1-0 Hearts

Tawanda Maswanhise goes close again! He picks up on the left, skips on to his right and curls, but Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon parries over the crossbar.

This has been a dreadful few minutes from Hearts.

  14. Gueye making his markpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Aberdeen 1-0 Kilmarnock

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Sport Scotland at Pittodrie

Pape Habib Gueye didn't have the start to his Aberdeen career he would have wanted but he has started to make an impact in the Jimmy Thelin era.

He certainly is a handful for any defender and that is two goals already this season.

    Sloppy defending from Hearts.

    Motherwell should be ahead!

A cross to the back post is nodded back into the middle and Zach Robinson plants a header at goal - but Craig Gordon saves with his head!

    Incredible.

  19. Postpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Aberdeen 0-0 Kilmarnock

Aberdeen continue to be the dominant side and Topi Keskinen meets the ball firmly as the ball drops following a Jamie McGrath corner.

However, the Finnish winger's effort is cleared from in front of goal by the foot of visiting striker Marley Watkins.

  20. Postpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Aberdeen 0-0 Kilmarnock

Summer signing Topi Keskinen has looked lively in his first Aberdeen start and the winger flashes a drive wide as the ball pings about the visiting penalty box.
