That's better from the St Mirren defence. Richard Taylor races across to tackle Daizen Maeda while the Celtic winger is in full flight and makes the crucial contact.

    St Mirren 0-2 Celtic

Carelessness in the St Mirren defence allows Daizen Maeda to mount another Celtic attack and, via Reo Hatate, Nicolas Kuhn is set up for a shot but he cannot get it beyond a clutch of defenders.

There's not formal VAR review for the earlier McGregor incident.

  5. Postpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 25 August

    St Mirren 0-2 Celtic

Kasper Schmeichel is called into action for the first time today.

The Celtic goalkeeper has to get down low to smother a Jaden Brown shot and shows no signs of spilling it with a solid block.

  6. Postpublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 25 August

    St Mirren 0-2 Celtic

Less intensity at the start of this second half and St Mirren are definitely seeing more of the ball in Celtic's half but the visitors' potential to break at pace remains.

  7. Postpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 25 August

    St Mirren 0-2 Celtic

Reo Hatate's surging run ends with a slipped pass to James Forrest, whose shot is blocked by St Mirren's Richard Taylor.

A corner ensues but St Mirren clear their lines and Toyosi Olusanya wins a corner at the other end. However, Mark O'Hara's over-hit delivery drifts out.

  8. KICK-OFFpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 25 August

    St Mirren 0-2 Celtic

Celtic kick off the second half through Paulo Bernardo but it is St Mirren with all the work to do at this stage.

Jonah Ayunga and Alex Gogic have been withdrawn by the hosts at half-time and on have come Mikael Mandron and Roland Idowu.

  9. Celtic relentlesspublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 25 August

    HT: St Mirren 0-2 Celtic

The champions have a relentless air about them at the moment, so sharp have they been since the start of the season. So far, with their fourth game only at half-time, they've scored 11 and conceded just one. To be 2-0 up and cruising in Paisley at the break is no mean feat, given the problems St Mirren can cause teams.

That said, the Buddies haven't bothered visiting keeper Kasper Schmeichel at all. While at the other end, but for a couple of top stops from Ellery Balcombe, this game could have been well beyond the hosts' reach.

St Mirren need to find a foothold in the match before Celtic stretch away to another three points. Paulo Bernardo has slotted seamlessly into the Matt O'Riley role, an indication of the strength in depth - at least domestically - that Celtic possess.

  10. 'Highly impressive from Celtic'published at 12:57 British Summer Time 25 August

    HT: St Mirren 0-2 Celtic

    Steven Thompson
Former St Mirren striker on BBC Sportsound

It's been highly impressive from Celtic.

They win the ball back in seconds, St Mirren can't string passes together and Celtic's movement off the ball is causing them all kinds of problems.

If Stephen Robinson tries to be a bit more expansive and get back into the game, it will only get worse. It might be a damage limitation job.

  11. HALF-TIME St Mirren 0-2 Celticpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 25 August

Celtic well on top after a midfield masterclass. Callum McGregor struck the opener and Reo Hatate added the second with an equally well hit shot.

And all done without Matt O'Riley, who is nearing a move to Brighton.

St Mirren just haven't been in this one so far.

  13. Postpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 25 August

    St Mirren 0-2 Celtic

Another effort from Reo Hatate but this one is off target. It had power but not the required curl after he received the ball outside the St Mirren box.

  14. Postpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 25 August

  16. Postpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 25 August

    St Mirren 0-2 Celtic

Celtic winger Daizen Maeda ghosts in behind Shaun Rooney, stealing possession then getting to his feet before getting away a shot that Ellery Balcombe saves.

VAR have a look at the Rooney challenge but there's no formal review and it's game on.

  17. Postpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 25 August

    St Mirren 0-1 Celtic

St Mirren attempt to re-group and gain some kind of territory with a Shaun Rooney throw-in but within seconds Celtic are up the park.

That has been the pattern of play so far in Paisley.

  18. 'Pretty much game over'published at 12:36 British Summer Time 25 August

    St Mirren 0-2 Celtic

    Steven Thompson
Former St Mirren striker on BBC Sportsound

You're not expecting Shaun Rooney to be beaten in the air, but Daizen Maeda does well.

It's then a really good finish from Reo Hatate, and you can safely say that's pretty much game over now.

  19. goal

GOAL St Mirren 0-2 Celticpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 25 August

    Reo Hatate

Celtic double their lead and it's really well worked goal.

Alastair Johnston's cross from right to left is headed down by Daizen Maeda and his Japanese compatriot hits it on the run past Ellery Balcombe and in off the right-hand post.
