  9. 'To concede so quickly is hugely frustrating' - Manningpublished at 16:00 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2024

    FT: Bristol City 1-1 QPR

    Liam ManningImage source, Rex Features

Bristol City head coach Liam Manning spoke this week about his team needing to start converting their chances into goals and against QPR earlier today they had 17 shots at goal.

But still despite taking the lead they conceded five minutes later to end the game with another draw.

"I can't question the lads' attitude, being all-in on the way we work, but what the staff can't do is put it in the net for them," Manning told BBC Radio Bristol.

"The lads know that if we want to move away from being a mid-table Championship side and push we have to step up in those moments.

"The free-kick was a moment of quality worthy of winning the game, it was outstanding.

"Then to concede so quickly after, and such a ridiculous goal, is hugely frustrating."

    FT: Coventry 2-1 Hull

    Ruben SellesImage source, PA Media

New Hull City boss Ruben Selles is still waiting to pick up his first win since taking over at the struggling club.

Defeat to Coventry earlier today leaves them bottom of the Championship and stretches their run without a win further.

“We need to be more aggressive. And we need to defend a bit better," Selles told BBC Radio Humberside:

“We were too long in certain moments, which gave them the chance to find some space.

“We are where we are and we need to keep building.

“We need to be more clinical and to play more together.”

Coventry City boss Frank Lampard saw his side pick up their second win earlier this afternoon since he took over last month.

Despite going behind, the Sky Blues scored twice in the second half to beat bottom of the table Hull.

"We created so many chances and it can be soul destroying if you don't take them. It was a case of staying strong - and to keep on doing the right things," Lampard told BBC CWR.

"Our best performance since I came in and there were smiles in the dressing room. They're happy boys. There were things we needed to correct from the West Brom game and the players did it, so I'm really pleased too.

"I was aware of Ephron Mason-Clark's talents coming in. All I've done is give him the oppotunity. The rest is down to him. He has to take all the credit.

"He's been on form since we came in and I'm sure there's plenty more to come. The ball hit him on the face for his goal but it doesn't matter how they go in, it was reward for him getting there."
