  2. 'Magnificent late winner' pleases McInnespublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 10 August

    FT: Dundee United 2-3 Hearts

Hearts manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "Every victory is different and a late winner is magnificent. It says a lot about the squad, the spirit and perseverance. You want to get the reputation if we can for being the best team in the league at set plays. They were a huge part today.

"Dundee United offered so much to the game considering their game on Thursday night. I've been here many a time as a player and manager coming down that slope you want to hem Dundee United in. But it was so stop-start, physios coming on, bookings and free kicks. It was all just a bit scrappy.

"I think at 2-2 Dundee United would have come out with a lot more credit. But we're delighted with the win. It shows the importance of set-plays and the freshness from the bench. With the benefit of not playing in Europe we looked stronger in the latter part of the game.

"I couldn't get him [Stuart Findlay] to score a goal at Kilmarnock. He did everything but. He was outstanding as a defender and person in the dressing room. But it's good to get his moment to shine. As a defender, that's where he's judged.

"He defended well enough today, but obviously you put your demand on the centre-halves when they go up there."

  3. Brannan strike 'will be spoken about for quite some time'published at 17:31 British Summer Time 10 August

    FT: Hibernian 2-2 Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock manager Stuart Kettlewell tells BBC Scotland: "For large parts of the first half, it didn't work and we altered the shape. You can think you're a tactical genius, but it wasn't that - it was how the players applied themselves.

"From that point, we carried more of a threat, we retained the ball better and looked better defensively.

"To be 2-0 down against a team that's absolutely flying at Easter Road, it's a mountain to climb. I'm absolutely delighted by the reaction of the players and the quality of the goals.

"[Brannan's strike] will be spoken about for quite some time. It's some strike, it's unbelievable. We had some other real good moments and spooked Hibs at the back.

"The goal aside, Ben is 18. We gave him his debut, we knew he was talented. I'll not get carried away, he's playing out of position, and he's embraced the whole situation. He's taken everything in his stride and you need that emotional intelligence to give yourself a chance."

    FT: Dundee United 2-3 Hearts

Sorry but Zander Clark isn’t good enough for Hearts. He gave away two goals last season against Dundee and was dropped for Gordon. The difference this time is we have a manager who knows what he’s doing. We need a keeper now not wasting time waiting for Craig getting fit.

    Neil

Exciting time to be a Hearts fan. Still lots of areas we can improve upon and lots of new signings still to play and to be fully bedded into the team but McInnes has the team looking organised and hard working, as you’d hope and expect.

You would hope Hearts would bring players in like Claudio Braga, sell them on and start building a pot of money.

You wouldn't bet against Tony Bloom.

The really interesting part of the league is going to be at the bottom.

To predict someone who is going to get relegated is really difficult, it's so nip and tuck.

Former Killie youth player Justin Devenny has just scored the winning penalty for Crystal Palace in the Community Shield against Liverpool.

Decent day for the Rugby Park academy.

McInnes will feel more pressure with what Bloom said - he was very bullish.

I'm not going to say Hearts will win the league within 10 years but if someone likes Bloom does, you wouldn't back against him.

It's very difficult, but there's no doubt Hearts will be a better club.

  10. Findlay firingpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 10 August

    FT: Dundee United 2-3 Hearts

That's four goals for the season now for Stuart Findlay.

That's as many goals as he has scored in the previous five years and five months.

McInnes should have been the Hearts manager last time round. There's so much to look forward to with Tony Bloom, Jamestown Analytics, and further investment in the club.

  20. FULL-TIME Hibernian 2-2 Kilmarnockpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 10 August

Teenage wing-back Ben Brannan's looping wonder-strike helped Kilmarnock recover from two goals down to share the points with high-flying Hibernian.

David Gray's side started with all the momentum you'd expect from a famous European victory, having beaten Partizan Belgrade 2-0 on Thursday night in Serbia.

From a free-kick near the byeline, Jamie McGrath fizzed a cross to the back post where Rocky Bushiri rose to head Hibs in front.

The hosts were flowing forward to create chances at will and they soon made it 2-0, when Junior Hoilett and Elie Youan played a one-two with the latter slotting under the keeper.

Hibs looked comfortable but just before half-time, Killie striker Marcus Dackers turned two defenders to get to the bye-line, cutting back for Liam Polworth to slot home.

That goal buoyed the visitors and they were well-worth their second goal, a stone-cold stunner from young Brannan. A corner was headed away but only as far as Brannan, who volleyed an arcing shot brilliantly over the keeper and into the corner from 25 yards.
