Is there anything left from this division to surprise us?

Leeds' precious win at in-form Boro has lifted them back to the summit, with Burnley held by Derby and Sheffield United stunned at home by Millwall.

Sunderland remain adrift in fourth after a stalemate at Norwich but Bristol City are up to fifth after their 96th-minute winner against West Brom.

Coventry could return to the top-six with a win on Wednesday but Millwall and Watford have kept themselves in the hunt with that superb win at Bramall Lane and a home win over Hull City respectively.

  2. Tigers reeled in by chasing packpublished at 22:04 British Summer Time 8 April

    Championship bottomImage source, Opta

It's largely a case of as you were as the bottom, but that doesn't quite tell the story.

Both second-bottom Luton and third-bottom Cardiff netted injury-time equalisers to keep pace with Derby, who ground out a stalemate against Burnley.

Stoke missed the chance to pull clear after conceding to the Hatters while Hull's 1-0 defeat against Watford means they are just two points clear of the relegation zone.

  3. Rocking Robins dreaming of play-off placepublished at 22:01 British Summer Time 8 April

FT: Bristol City 2-1 West Brom

    Sophie Hurcom
    BBC Sport at Ashton Gate

I'm not sure when Ashton Gate has been rocking quite as much as it is still this evening, after Haydon Roberts' winner fired in that 95th minute winner for Bristol City.

Gala's Freed from Desire has been pounding over the stadium speakers and the south stand in the corner is still packed full - long after the players have gone down the tunnel - with fans singing and waving their flags, not wanting to go home just yet.

And why would they? A win like this, in this manner, against one of their nearest play-off rivals, is a moment to savour.

If Robins fans were daring to dream they could make it to the play-offs before kick-off then they will all be sleeping a little bit more soundly tonight.

    They're up to fifth.

  4. 'Leeds claim a massive win'published at 21:59 British Summer Time 8 April

    FT: Middlesbrough 0-1 Leeds

    Adam Pope
    BBC Radio Leeds commentator

In a game where they had two onside goals disallowed, they claim a massive 1-0 win and climb to the top of the table.

Is this that sliding doors moment that we have been hoping for?

Leeds fans will be cheering all the way back to Elland Road tonight.

  5. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:53 British Summer Time 8 April

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Leeds

Daniel James scores for LeedsImage source, Rex Features

Dan James' second-minute goal is enough for three vital, vital points for Leeds and they go back to the top of the Championship with five matches to play.

It could have been more and, in truth, should have been as both Ao Tanaka and Patrick Bamford had goals incorrectly ruled out for offside.

Play-off chasing Middlesbrough stuck in and kept looking for an equaliser but Karl Darlow in the Whites goal was largely untroubled.

On a night where both Burnley and Sheffield United have slipped up, Leeds have capitalised.

  6. Postpublished at 21:51 British Summer Time 8 April

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Leeds

Samuel Iling-Junior swings in a delicious ball from the left that Sam Byram has to turn behind for a Boro corner.

Home goalkeeper Mark Travers comes up for the resultant set piece but Leeds survive.

  7. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:48 British Summer Time 8 April

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Leeds

FOUR minutes of time added on.

Is there to be a late twist in this tale?

  8. 'Leeds camped in penalty area'published at 21:47 British Summer Time 8 April

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Leeds

    Mark Drury
    BBC Tees commentator

Leeds are just sitting here, saying come on then, break us down.

They are camped on the edge of their penalty area at the moment.

  9. Postpublished at 21:45 British Summer Time 8 April

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Leeds

Morgan Whittaker hammers a shot over the bar for the home side.

Time running out for them now.

Three to play, plus injury time.

  10. 'Derby worked hard'published at 21:44 British Summer Time 8 April

    FT: Derby 0-0 Burnley

    Ed Dawes
    BBC Radio Derby commentator

Just how big this point is at the end of the season is to be seen.

Derby have worked hard to deny the league leaders coming into tonight.

  11. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:43 British Summer Time 8 April

    Preston 2-2 Cardiff City

Yakou Meite's 94th minute equaliser has indeed rescued a point for the Bluebirds at Deepdale and a very entertaining match ends all square.

Milutin Osmajic's 19th minute strike had put the hosts in front at half time but they were pegged back thanks to Leicester loanee Will Alves' goal seven minutes after half-time.

Stefan Thordarson had restored Preston's lead before Meite's late equaliser.

Preston stay 14th while Cardiff remain third bottom and inside the relegation zone on goal difference.

  12. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:42 British Summer Time 8 April

    Blackburn 2-2 Sheff Wed

Blackburn avoid falling to a sixth successive defeat as they fight back from 2-0 down to claim a point.

These pair will finish firmly in midtable.

  13. Postpublished at 21:42 British Summer Time 8 April

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Leeds

Burnley held to a draw and Sheffield United beaten... All eyes on Leeds now.

See this over the line and they go back to the Championship summit.

    Just over five to play.

  14. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:42 British Summer Time 8 April

    Stoke 1-1 Luton

This scrappy but exciting relegation six-pointer finishes all square at the Bet365 Stadium.

Lewis Baker's deflected free-kick 15 minutes from time looked to have stolen it late on for Stoke City but, into injury time, Millenic Alli popped up and scored from a tight angle to salvage a vital point for the Hatters.

The two sides remain where they were before tonight's fixture: Stoke stay 20th and Luton remain second bottom, still only two points from Championship safety.

  15. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:41 British Summer Time 8 April

    Derby 0-0 Burnley

It ends all square at Pride Park and both sides will have to settle for a point a piece.

In truth, it was hard to tell who was at the top of the league and who was at the bottom tonight.

Burnley failed to convince throughout and went closest via Zian Flemming's left-footed effort but only tested the goalkeeper twice in 90 minutes in a drab affair.

Derby boss John Eustace will argue his side had the better chances and either side of half-time Jerry Yates and Matt Clarke were guilty of passing up glorious chances to win this one.

Burnley, as it stands, drop to second while Derby remain fourth bottom and out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

  16. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:41 British Summer Time 8 April

    Sheff Utd 0-1 Millwall

Back-to-back 1-0 defeats for Sheffield United, whose title-hopes have taken an almighty blow in the past four days.

Josh Coburn's thunderous effort midway through the first half put the Lions into the lead and despite the Blades huffing and puffing, they could not find a way back.

Ben Brereton-Diaz and Rhian Brewster came close for the hosts but Mihailo Ivanovic spurned a glorious chance to double the lead on the break for the visitors.

Millwall are three points outside the play-off places with five games to go...

  17. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 8 April

    Bristol City 2-1 West Brom

This game bubbled into life in the second half, with Nahki Wells curling the hosts ahead and then Alex Mowatt slotting a quickfire equaliser after a mix-up at the back.

Josh Griffiths in the Albion goal and opposite number Max O'Leary were called into plenty of action to prevent any further scoring until the 96th minute when City sub Haydon Roberts squirmed a shot through the legs of Griffiths and inside the post to pick up a priceless win in the play-off race.

Jayson Molumby's red card for Albion on 89 minutes could have played a significant part in City's strong finish.

A pulsating second half comes to a close...

  18. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 8 April

    Watford 1-0 Hull City

Moussa Sissoko's well taken goal is the difference.

The Hornets are still just about in the hunt for the play-offs while struggling Hull City are still in real trouble at the wrong end of the table.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:38 British Summer Time 8 April

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Leeds

The home side bring on Marcus Forss for Delano Burgzorg as they look for a late leveller.

Ten to play in this one.
