Man City v Man Utd (Sun, 14:00 BST)

Man Utd got the better of City in the two Premier League Manchester derby's last season.

The first match at the Etihad ended 2-1 in a stunning turnaround for Ruben Amorin's side late on before the two played out a boring 0-0 draw in April.

  2. Villa's early season strugglespublished at 12:42 BST

Everton v Aston Villa (15:00 BST)

Despite Wolves sitting rock bottom of the league with zero points, you get the feeling it's Aston Villa who have been the biggest disappointment.

Unai Emery's Villa finished sixth last season but have just one point on the board this term - coming in an opening day 0-0 draw at home to Newcastle.

They then went on to lose by a single goal at Brentford before being on the wrong end of a 3-0 thumping at home to Crystal Palace.

For Aston Villa, things may not improve for them this Saturday with a trip to a resurgent Everton up next.

Italy captain Gianluigi Donnarumma is set to become the eighth Manchester City player to make their Premier League bow in a Manchester derby and the third goalkeeper.

Swedish international Andreas Isaksson’s first City appearance came as a half-time substitute during this fixture in 2006 and Claudio Bravo started Pep Guardiola’s first derby at Old Trafford in 2016.

    Neither kept a clean sheet.

Five of the previous seven debutants ended up on the winning side, two found the net and one – Mikhail Kavelashvili – is now the president of Georgia.

Woltemade will have a huge role to play moving forward, given the loss of Alexander Isak to Liverpool.

Interestingly, his £69m deal to become a Newcastle player eclipses the £63m paid for Isak three years ago, to become the most expensive player in the club's history.

"I'm really happy to be at this amazing club," he said.

"From the first contact, I felt like the club really wanted me and had big plans for me. It's a big step in my life to leave Germany but everybody has welcomed me so well and it already feels like family.

"I have a really good feeling from speaking to the head coach that this is the right place for me to find my best level.

Nick Woltemade could make his Newcastle United debut on Saturday when the magpies takes on Wolves at St James' Park.

The Germany international joined Newcastle in a deal worth up to £69m.

Woltemade trained for the first time at Newcastle's training ground on Tuesday after representing his country on international duty.

However this is the 23 year-olds first time playing outside of his homeland so could a lack of experience let him down? Is Yoane Wissa a better option?

How about Yoane Wissa to headline this weekend?

The forward joined Newcastle from Brentford for £55m on deadline day bringing an end a transfer saga, which saw the Wissa issue a statement publicly condemning he wanted to leave Brentford.

Wissa joined Brentford in 2021 and scored 49 goals in 149 appearances for the club.

He will wear the number nine at St James' Park. Newcastle host Wolves on Saturday (15:00 BST).

  11. Elliott to kickstart Villa's season?published at 12:12 BST

Aston Villa may not have enjoyed the best start to the season but they could be taking on Everton this weekend with new signing Harvey Elliott in their side.

Elliott arrives from Liverpool a two-time Premier League winner after being named player of the tournament during England's winning U21 Euro 2025 campaign.

I feel like Isak is expected to make an impact and if he doesn’t there will be pressure. But I think the player who will make a big impact is Harvey Elliott. He’s underrated and still has high potential and I’d love to see him do really well at Villa.

  14. Watch: Xavi Simons best Bundesliga goalspublished at 12:04 BST

  15. 'A very exciting modern attacker' - analysispublished at 12:00 BST

    Jordan Butler
    BBC Sport

Simons was linked with many European clubs this summer and represents a coup for Frank - but where will he play at Spurs?

Frank is known for his tactical flexibility and has employed two different formations in his first three games in charge - a 5-3-2 in the Super Cup final against Paris St-Germain and his more familiar 4-3-3 in the Premier League.

Simons is best suited to the latter, where he would most likely play on the left of Frank's front three so he can cut inside to use his favoured right foot.

The attacker was predominantly used on the left in the Bundesliga last season with 75% of his time on that side of the pitch. He can also play centrally or on the right if needed.

However, RB Leipzig's former boss Marco Rose often asked Simons to play either deeper in a traditional 4-4-2 or more narrowly in a 4-2-2-2 - in a 'box midfield' formation which encouraged full-backs to get forward - which suggests he'll need time to adapt to Frank's methods.

Xavi Simons could be another player who makes his Premier League debut this weekend after he signed for Tottenham from RB Leipzig for £51.8m (60m euros) late in the summer window.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who has been chased by several European clubs this summer, said he had "been dreaming of this for a long time" after completing his Spurs medical.

Simons scored 22 goals and assisted 24 others in 78 appearances for Leipzig, who he joined on loan from Paris St-Germain in 2023 before signing permanently in January of this year.

He has also scored five goals in 28 appearances for the Netherlands, having made his debut at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.

Spurs are away to West Ham on Saturday (17:30 BST).

  17. What went wrong for Garnacho at Old Trafford?published at 11:49 BST

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport Chief Football News Reporter

Alejandro Garnacho's future at United has been the subject of major conjecture from the moment he was exiled from the squad to face Manchester City last December.

Manager Ruben Amorim felt he was not paying attention to instructions when the Argentina international was about to come on late in a Europa League tie with Viktoria Plzen.

Although, unlike Marcus Rashford, Garnacho's exile only lasted a single game. But he didn't start again for another month. By that time interest from Chelsea, which included a visit to Stamford Bridge from the players' agents for their game against Wolves, was already apparent.

The uneasy situation erupted when Garnacho was left out of the Europa League final starting line-up, prompting a critical social media post from his brother Roberto and then a post-match interview from the player, who questioned why he had been omitted by Amorim.

The United coach's response was to tell Garnacho to find another club.

The signing of Alejandro Garnacho is deemed important by Blues manager Enzo Maresca.

The Italian revealed at an August news conference that his two transfer priorities were to sign a central defender and a left winger capable of providing competition for Gittens.

The club only approved one of his requests, adding an attacker, and instructed Maresca to work with the existing defensive options.

Enter Garnacho, who has been a long-term target as highlighted by the public sighting of his agents, Carlos Cambeiro and Quique de Lucas, at Stamford Bridge in late January.

At £40m, Garnacho is good value, and will be keen to prove he is more than just a cost-effective buy, but a difference maker in an already well-stocked Blues attack.

Alejandro Garnacho could well make his first Premier League start for Chelsea this weekend.

The Blues signed the Argentina winger for £40m late in the transfer window.

The 21-year-old, who has 16 goals in 93 Premier League appearances, signed a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge that runs through to 2032.

Enzo Maresca's side travel to Brentford on Saturday night (20:00 BST).
