That was the length of time between Alexander Isak's final appearance for Newcastle United on May 25th in a 1-0 defeat by Everton and the forward's next appearance.

The striker came on as a second-half substitute in Sweden's 2-0 defeat by Kosovo in World Cup qualifying in Pristina on Monday.

Isak replaced Newcastle's Anthony Elanga for the final 18 minutes, with Sweden trailing 2-0.

He had three shots - two on target - and was booked for clashing with Kosovo's Fidan Aliti.

I think Granit Xhaka will be the catalyst for Sunderland staying in the league. That’s a huge impact when you consider the recent struggles of promoted sides. It changes the landscape of the league entirely. It changes the profile of signings promoted clubs will look for too.

  3. Liverpool's attacking optionspublished at 09:22 BST

It seems crazy to say, but strictly speaking, Liverpool didn't really need Alexander Isak.

The Premier League's best attack already boasted Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.

Ekitike, a £69m signing from Frankfurt this summer, could perhaps be the biggest casualty of Isak's arrival.

The Frenchman has hit the ground running at Anfield, scoring three times in four appearances.

But how does two go into one?

Alexander Isak at Liverpool may be the obvious choice but the Swede won't be fully up to speed just yet.

What about Gianluigi Donnarumma at Man City? He could make his debut in the Manchester derby this Sunday.

  5. Should Isak start against Burnley?published at 09:10 BST

That's the question Liverpool fans want answered.

After months of waiting, supporters are desperate to see the Swede in action.

But, after refusing to play for Newcastle during pre-season, Isak has just 18 minutes of football under his belt in the last three-and-a-half months.

It seems unlikely that Arne Slot will risk Swede from the start against Burnley.

But, could the Dutchman be tempted to chuck Isak in at the deep end in a bid to get him up to speed as soon as possible?

  8. Eriksen joins Wolfsburgpublished at 08:48 BST

First things first, a bit of transfer news for you.

Former Tottenham and Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has joined German club Wolfsburg.

The Denmark international has been a free agent since leaving Old Trafford at the end of last season.

The 33-year-old spent three years at United, scoring eight goals in 107 appearances.

Given he was a free agent, Eriksen was able to join Wolfsburg outside of the transfer window.
