I think the fact City ended up without having a ton of massive chances within the game, I think you have to give credit to that Juventus side and the system they played was very much suited to the players he has.

Considering they're a team who aren't in the best of form as well, they did seem very much ready for this occasion. I'd argue a little bit more than Man City.

  8. 'We are the best, I love my team the way we play'published at 22:58 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December

More from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in his post-match news conference: “I don't think it was defensive mistakes much [that cost them]. That was not the reason, other games, today not. We missed the last pass, arriving in the six-yard box, penalty spot many times, not make that good move, that was the difference today. We are the best, I love my team, the way we play and this result is not going to convince me the opposite."

On Ilkay Gundogan saying there is a confidence issue: “You probe it and accept one or two games in this period not good, the rest we play quite similar. I give credit Juventus congratulations, for the way they defend, the transitions. We were incredible, aggressive in our high pressing, we won the long balls, the back four was really good. Of course it's a cross Vlahovic is strong in that position. The way we played I’m really pleased."

On whether he questions himself: “Yeah of course. I analyse, use it, what happens in the results. Of course I question myself, in the good moments, in the bad moments. I was stable in the good moments, I was stable in the bad moments. I try to find the way, find win. The game was there. I am incredibly honest in knowing when we not play good or not play good."

  9. 'Arsenal need that prolific goalscorer'published at 22:56 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December

We talk about Havertz and Jesus - they need to score more goals and be more ruthless. There is no doubt about it.

I think they could do with that different tool in the box, that player who can find an opportunity out of nothing.

Jesus has come with a lot of experience, he has bought a lot to the group, but he wants his goals on the pitch. He has played his part but Arsenal need that prolific goalscorer to put these opportunities away.

  13. 'The performance is there'published at 22:50 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December

    Juventus 2-0 Manchester City

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to TNT Sports: "We played good, really, really good.

"We concede few, some transition happened but I am so proud for these players. They give everything and they tried and now we live in this period and hopefully we can change results. I know it's difficult, in the Champions League in Europe. We played really good. Today we have done really well, didn't lose many balls like in the past, we tried, we arrived in the positions.

“Against Italian teams, defend so deep, so compact. Master of these kind of situations. We play who we are and we missed the result but the performance is there."

Any nerves in the Champions League with two games to go: “We have two games, we need one point maybe.

"You go to Turin, Paris, our three games away were really tough. You have to accept it. We will turn around, not forget that period, appreciate more what we have done in the past, what we are going to do in the future.”

    FT: Juventus 2-0 Man City

    Nedum Onuoha
Former Manchester City defender on MOTD: UEFA Champions League

The defending was the biggest difference between the two sides.

Juve kept Erling Haaland completely isolated for 90 minutes and were so tight and compact in the middle. City only made two mistakes, but got punished for them both.

I'd like to think City could still create more, but is another disappointing evening for them. They probably got what they deserved.
