  2. 'Of course there is going to be noise' - Thelinpublished at 20:13 BST 27 September

    FT: Motherwell 2-0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin tells Premier Sports: "It was a really, really tough one. I thought the team showed up today and we were much better at fighting, much more collected.

"I hope the fans can feel the different energy and connection. I think we started well with some good chances then Motherwell controlled the game.

"You always win and lose together and the most important thing for me today was to get the points but connect with supporters. The belief is there and it is super important we stand up after this loss.

"I think we deserved more, at least not to lose the game. To get the goal against you in 95 minutes is super tough.

"What can I say? We have one point and scored zero goals, of course there is going to be noise. As a manager or a player you have to keep pushing. You can't hide.

"We know it's a results business and we need to turn this around. Right now I'm not focused on that, I'm focused on the game on Thursday.

"I think the fans really believed we could win the game, I think they feel more connection with the team."

  5. 'I loved that expression' - Askoupublished at 20:05 BST 27 September

    FT: Motherwell 2-0 Aberdeen

Motherwell boss Jens Berthel Askou tells Premier Sports: "[The overarching feeling] is mainly joy on behalf of everyone who has invested so much in getting where we are right now, where we are actually winning games, dominating and doing everything to win them.

"Now we are getting what we feel we deserve even though Aberdeen also had their moments.

"They're a good team with quality, but the way we are pushing to win a game, where we missed some big chances, had the moments... We kept going for it with everything we had.

"I loved that expression and it's fantastic to be in the dressing room and see a lot of happy faces.

"After the first goal we dealt with the last couple of minutes really well. We speak a lot about if we score don't drop back, keep looking for the second goal.

"I'm delighted to see [Apostolos Stamatelopoulos] finally on the scoresheet. He's working really hard to get the chances he's getting. I think this will help him go forward a little bit."

I think the manger, his instruction, his belief of how he wants to play, the belief he's given to the players, is massively key for Motherwell.

It's all well and good, but the players still need to step up and it's credit to them because they are willing to take the risk.

Not an outstanding display from Motherwell, but a very good one and finally a victory on the board.

  7. 'Cruel for Aberdeen'published at 19:59 BST 27 September

    FT: Motherwell 2-0 Aberdeen

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen defender on BBC Sportsound

It wasn't just better, it was much better. Aberdeen in the first half created a number of chances but didn't take them. I think over the course of the 90 minutes, if you take away the two goals at the end, it's a very even game.

I'm sure Jimmy Thelin will be in a situation where Aberdeen fans are not pleased with the result tonight, but I can assure you it was a much better performance.

If this type of performance had been earlier in the season, you'd be hopeful it would turn round.

It's cruel for Aberdeen but magnificent for Motherwell.

I know the game was over, but it's still a big moment for him to step up and take that penalty kick.

It's a horror moment from Dimitar Mitov, Aberdeen's Scottish Cup hero, who lets a harmless Johnny Koutroumbis shot slip through him.
