He was adamant it was a corner and let the linesman know how he felt about it.

The long throw is launched in by Michael Kayode but Bernd Leno ends up with the ball in his hands.

There were some murmurings of discontent when that Chris Wood double chance - the first blocked, the second saved - was eventually flagged offside very late by assistant Akil Howson.

The decision to delay offside calls has been cited as a factor in Taiwo Awoniyi's serious injury.

You needed a manager [Nigel Pearson] that would prepare to accept that mischievous side of things, someone who pushed the boundaries sometimes.

You were always laughing and having a joke about something. Jamie Vardy certainly brightened up a room when he walked into it.

I played with Paul Gascoigne and there was a bit of that element to it.

With Gazza you knew he did something – I know stories where he put fish in peoples cars and hid them.

You always had that in the back of your mind, ‘what has he done to my clothes?’

The Jamie Vardy memorabilia was on full display outside the King Power Stadium.

As fate would have it it is also 13 years to the day since the striker signed for Leicester for Fleetwood for £1m.

A Premier League and FA Cup triumph, 499 appearances and 199 goals later Vardy signs off this afternoon.

Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha dedicates his programme column to the former England international.

He wrote: "Today will be Jamie's moment. For the years of service, for the appearances in Leicester blue, for the goals, for the trophies, for his unique connection with our supporters.

"As a symbol of the spirit that defined the most successful era in our history, Jamie rightly carries the title of our greatest of all time."
