FT: Crystal Palace 1-1 Nottingham Forest

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "I think we performed well. Overall, both halves performed well against a very tough team.

"The reaction was good in the second half. It is very difficult to play here at Selhurst Park.

"The way they defend, the way they play, there is so much work to be done in terms of defensive organisation.

"Overall, I am very pleased with the performance.

"We spoke, we tried to tweak the wingers to see if we could have an element of surprise there.

"It will take time, but you will get there to see the Forest that you want."

On reports of falling out with Marinakis and Edu: "The truth is we have to speak, and we will do it this week. This is the truth, and we will try to create a better platform moving forward.

"I am a responsible person. I have to look at my squad and see what they need. Now it is only the Premier League, then quick turnaround and it is going to be Europe and the cups."

On how many players Forest need: "I would say three. The club is aware of the need for full-backs. We are always concerned for Neco and Ola.

"We will go with the centre-half and it is not the same.

"The team needs the width of the full-backs.

"Then another option for the goal to be completely safe.

"Fear is the worst thing you can have, and we cannot allow to have it."

    Nottingham Forest

On Friday, Nottingham Forest will discover their Europa League league phase opponents. Their next game is at home to struggling West Ham next Sunday (14:00 BST). The questions is: will Nuno Espirito Santo still be in charge by then?

  4. 'We showed character'published at 16:56 British Summer Time

FT: Crystal Palace 1-1 Nottingham Forest

    Nottingham Forest

More from Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo to BBC Match of the Day: "I think we played good against a very tough team, who are well drilled, well organised. Give no spaces and are aggressive. But we showed character and we played good.

"In the final moments of the game we had two good chances to score. Overall, we created a lot to situations - dominated, control possession and find the gaps. It is always very difficult to defend against Palace and keep the balance. Sarr, Mateta up front, very good players."

On integrating new players: "We are working on that. They arrived not long ago. They can know better when they start competing, not just training because the stress of playing games is part of it. It is our job to get the best out of them."

  5. 'There will be a resolution'published at 16:54 British Summer Time

FT: Crystal Palace 1-1 Nottingham Forest

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo, speaking to BBC Match of the Day, about his future: "I am a person that thinks a lot before saying anything. I say because I believe that things can improve but now is a moment to ignore the noise and focus on what I have to do. My job is clear.

"Of course, there will be resolution. Everything is going to be OK, for sure. It is the moment to sit down and talk. More important is how we play football and I think we are improving, trying to adjust some things and that is where my focus is.

"We still need three players. One goalkeeper to give us another option, one to make us feel safe. Then two full-backs because Ola [Aina] and Neco [Williams] are playing all the games. We are always considering if something happens, what options do we have?

"Those are our main concerns so hopefully this week we can complete the squad and move forward."

Are gaps in the squad the only issue? "Yes. I understand your questions but after a game of football, my focus is clearly on what I have to do."

On the support of the fans: "Last season, the journey that we embraced together we stay with us forever. It’s memorable and it’s beautiful. "

  6. 'I could do what I want and play with freedom'published at 16:52 British Summer Time

    FT: Everton 2-0 Brighton

    Everton

Everton's Jack Grealish, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "Brilliant day.

"We were saying before the game that we wanted to put on a show for the fans. For the club itself, it was a big day coming into the new stadium. It was the perfect day.

"I think we dedicated that one to all of the fans."

On his two assists: "For me, it is just as important. Scoring goals in football is so important, but when I played with Kevin de Bruyne, he was the one I learned so much off in football.

"Assisting is just as good as scoring, in my own opinion.

"Providing the assist for your teammates is a special feeling. When I’m here, all I want to do is do good things for this club, and hopefully we can push on and provide more goals and assists.

"I felt really good. It was nice. I don’t want to get into like saying I didn’t feel free before [at man City]. Out there today I could drift, I could do what I want more or less and play with a bit of freedom.

"Take more risks. I feel like I have done that.

"I was so happy with the team’s performance with my own as well. The last time I played 90 minutes, think was April or March. Nearly four or five months ago.

"To get that under my belt in a tough game, I am happy with myself.

"For myself, I think today I was nowhere near fit. Hopefully, I can provide a lot more and better performances.

"It is a pleasure to play for this team in this stadium."

  7. What's next for Palace?published at 16:50 British Summer Time

FT: Crystal Palace 1-1 Nottingham Forest

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace travel to Norway for Thursday's Conference League play-off with Fredrikstad (17:00 BST). The Eagles lead 1-0 from the first leg.

Then it's Aston Villa away in the Premier League on Sunday. That game kicks-off at 19:00 BST.

  8. 'We need three new players'published at 16:47 British Summer Time

FT: Crystal Palace 1-1 Nottingham Forest

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo, speaking to Sky Sports: "If we look at the final minutes of the game, that will be the perception [that we could have won] but it’s very tough to play here.

On reaction to the Palace goal: "It was good because even when Palace scored, we were in control of the game. We had possession, finding gaps that are not easy to find because Oliver [Glasner] has their team set up spot on. Their goal came against what was happening in the game.

"The reaction came in the second half, we spoke with the players about the adjustment required. The desire they put in the since the beginning is what pleases me most."

On the tactical changes he made: "We just changed the wingers. We felt it was the most to create an element of surprise to Palace because they were adjusting really well. Change of characteristics and it worked out. We are pleased."

On options in the squad and transfer business: "It is basic for us. We still need some options, especially in the full-backs because you are always afraid of what happens if something happens to Ola [Aina] or Neco [Williams], are we going to put a centre-back there?

"We can complete the squad, an extra goalkeeper to be really safe but we had a good options, talented players that now we are trying to assess them. The flow is still not there, with work and their belief in our approach, I think it can work out."

On how many players they want to bring in: "These three bodies that we need. One goalkeeper and two full-backs. That would give us 23, 24 bodies to cope with what is ahead of us. Now it is only Premier League, but in a quick turnaround we are going to plays cup and in Europe."

  9. 'That's why Pickford is England's best goalkeeper'published at 16:44 British Summer Time

    FT: Everton 2-0 Brighton

    Everton

Everton boss David Moyes, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I think we all wanted that [to get a win] and when you play Brighton it isn't enjoyable because they are a really good football team. We got over the line, we are Everton and we do that quite a lot. We added some quality, the quality probably stood out today at the right moments when we needed it."

Brighton chances: "Brighton had great chances in the first half but they didn't take them and we did. It's the tight margins in football. We are improving as a football team and I don't want us to lose the heart and soul of Everton, I want us to keep working hard and be competitive which we were today."

On improvement from Leeds game: "Against Leeds we lost narrowly to a poor decision. We didn't play well but that's how close it was. Today we are still improving. We have a makeshift back four at the moment because we don't have any defenders. They deserve a lot of credit to get a result against Brighton today especially with the players we had out defensively."

On Jack Grealish: "That's what we have been hoping for and waiting for. We want to add that extra quality and that's what we are trying to do. Kiernan [Dewsbury-Hall] and Jack both played exceptionally well. We are thrilled we are adding a bit more quality and we need to score some more goals which we did today."

On Jordan Pickford: "Some of his decisions are a bit strange at times and have got me pulling my hair out but he's a top goalkeeper and that's why he has been England's best goalkeeper and still is. You need people who can make big decisions and you need your goalkeeper to save a penalty when it is required."

On the first day at the Hill Dickinson Stadium: "It was brilliant, it is something we all hoped would come around some day. Someone will be standing here interviewing a manager here in 100 years time, we'll be well gone but we started it off today and I hope that the history of the future will be talked about a lot."

  10. 'Everybody knows we have to sign players'published at 16:41 British Summer Time

FT: Crystal Palace 1-1 Nottingham Forest

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, speaking to BBC Sport: "I think both sides deserved the draw. We took the lead but our legs looked a little fatigued. We've had an intense start to the season. In the end the result is fair.

"We always know we can count on our supporters and fans. They did it again. It's always great to play at Selhurst. I'm more or less delighted with our start to the season. This was our fourth competitive game, fourth time unbeaten. There's a lot of noise around us but a lot of credit to the players to deal with the situation.

"I'm very confident [there will be signings before the transfer deadline]. I know and I can see everybody is working really hard to get the right players in. Everybody knows we have to do it and I'm pretty sure we will do it."

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo, speaking to Sky Sports on support from the fans: “The bond that was created with the team and the fans is there to stay. It is unbreakable due to the fantastic moments we had last season.

"It was a beautiful journey – it will stick in our memories forever. No matter what happens, we will have this respect and mutual love.”

On Edu watching on and bringing everyone at the club together: “I believe that that is the only way to operate in a football club, if everybody is on the same page.

"It is helping in the same direction so hopefully we can do it this week and move forward – and take these nonsense questions and narrative away from our daily [lives].”

  14. 'We can't afford to sell first-team players'published at 16:32 British Summer Time

FT: Crystal Palace 1-1 Nottingham Forest

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's a deserved draw for both teams. First half we took the lead and in the second half the pressure increased. Nottingham Forest deserved the equaliser. We lost possession too quickly and too easily. We need to be more efficient.

"It's our fourth game now and many players have played every single minute. We know this. We've got eight, nine, ten days to strengthen the squad and I am pretty sure we will do this.

"I think everybody can see we can't afford to lose starters. It's not too easy with one week to go. We need players to make us better and keep the competition high. This is what we're looking for and I'm pretty sure we'll get the right ones in."

  16. 'We can't thank the fans enough'published at 16:28 British Summer Time

    FT: Everton 2-0 Brighton

    Everton

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I expected [Matt] O'Riley to take it and I didn't want to look at my bottle. I decided to go left so I was never changed my mind. I thought I was a bit unfortunate against Leeds the other night but that's football."

On the whole day at Everton's new stadium: "Brighton are a really good side, we know they are really good off the ball. The manager said we are going to have to work hard which we did. We defended like Everton does. Sometimes that is what it takes to get an Everton result and the fans have gone home happy so it's a great day."

"It's amazing, the fans are always behind us whether we go home or away, we've got great support and we can't thank them enough. It's about letting them go home happy which we have done today. It's a start and we want to keep building momentum at this place and be resilient so that's what we'll try to do."

  18. 'We want more flair and quality'published at 16:25 British Summer Time

    FT: Everton 2-0 Brighton

    Everton

Everton boss David Moyes, speaking to Sky Sports: "Very proud. I think every one who manages against Brighton will tell you how hard it is to play against them and it was the same again today in the new stadium.

On James Garner's goal: "He's got the ability to shoot like he did do. It's a good strike. He's a midfield player playing out of position. It's a good goal.

On Ndiaye and Grealish playing together: "We'll see how they play and if their performances are good. Jack has got a couple of assists today and Iliman has a goal. We need to score more goals. One thing I don't want to lose is the spirit on the pitch. We want more flair and quality.

On penalty save: "It was huge save by Jordan because they were the stronger team. If they'd scored, it would have been a tough 20 minutes.

On the atmosphere: "It will grow the more the people get used to the new stadium.

More business to be done? "Yes, definitely."

Jack Grealish was totally unplayable today. Never misses a pass, classy on the ball and kept it simple when needed. One of the finest home debuts I've ever seen at Everton.
