Well played Bournemouth. The Spurs team is good enough on paper to win this game, but the lack of strength in depth leaves us vulnerable if things don't go our way. Ange has very limited options... we need a goal, who do you bring on? We still haven't replaced Kane. That's the reality.

    Chris

Dreadful from Spurs from start to finish. Wrong team selection, made worse by poor substitutions. I don’t think he has a clue tbh, as there is such a big gap in performance levels from game to game. Congratulations to Bournemouth played us off the park, well coached young hungry team the polar opposite of Spurs.

Tottenham didn't look like they could score.

I thought Spurs could only be better in the second half and they were slightly better, but there was no urgency. We didn't know what Spurs was going to turn up tonight - and that wasn't the Spurs we wanted.

This will not be popular but I think Graham Potter would do a great job at Spurs.

    FT: Bournemouth 1-0 Tottenham

Following the midweek Premier League fixtures, the table appears to be splitting into three sub-groups.

Manchester City in fourth are three points clear of fifth-place Brighton. The Seagulls though are just four points above Manchester United, who are down in 13th.

United are then a full four points above West Ham in 14th, with the Hammers at the top of what looks like the table of teams fighting to avoid relegation this season.

  5. Will Spurs recruit in January?published at 08:23 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December

    FT: Bournemouth 1-0 Tottenham

Given their injury issues and poor form, Spurs may be tempted to dip into the winter market.

They have been linked with a move for a striker to back up Dominic Solanke, who missed the Fulham draw with illness, as teenager Mikey Moore has also suffered injury problems.

Ange Postecoglou said before the Bournemouth loss: "There's no doubt we need some bolstering in that front third over the next couple of transfer windows. Dom [Solanke] coming in has been great, but again we can't overload him either. It's something we're aware of and need to plan for."

  6. Are injuries killing Spurs' season?published at 08:19 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December

    FT: Bournemouth 1-0 Tottenham

According to Premier Injuries, external, Spurs have eight first team players out injured or suspended - the second-most of any Premier League side, behind Southampton.

These include first choice keeper Gigi Vicario, out for months with a broken ankle, and senior centre-back pairing Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Add in Rodrigo Bentancur facing four more games out due to a ban following racist comments about Son Heung-min, and Spurs could suffer for a while longer.

  7. Are Spurs a mid-table team?published at 08:15 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December

    FT: Bournemouth 1-0 Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou made a brilliant start at Spurs, with eight wins and two draws from his first 10 league matches in charge.

Since then? In the Premier League, they have played 41 games and won as many as they have lost - 18, with eight draws.

It's a win percentage of just 43.9%, and form that if it was played out over a season would earn them around 57 points, good enough for ninth last season.

    Properly mid-table.

It was thought that Tottenham's 4-0 win at Manchester City might herald a push back up the table for Ange Postecoglou's team.

Instead that looks like an outlier - it is their only win in their last six matches:

    Dec 5: Bournemouth 1-0 Spurs

    Dec 1: Spurs 1-1 Fulham

    Nov 28: Spurs 2-2 Roma

Nov 23: Man City 0-4 Spurs

Bournemouth have now won successive Premier League games for the first time since April, while both their clean sheets in the league this campaign have come in home wins against sides from north London - they also beat Arsenal 2-0 in October.

Their star last night was defender Dean Huijsen, who became Bournemouth’s youngest ever Premier League goalscorer at 19 years and 235 days.

    FT: Bournemouth 1-0 Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have lost seven of their last 11 Premier League away games, while they haven’t won on the road when conceding first in the competition in any of their last 11 away games either.

They have not done so since a 5-2 win at Burnley in September 2023.

This was a poor defeat for Tottenham - but it could have been worse.

According to Opta's expected goals stat, Bournemouth should have had three or four. They had 21 shots in this match, their most in any game this season.

Meanwhile for Spurs, nil was just about what they deserved.

Tottenham fan and youtuber Chris Cowlin, speaking to BBC 5 Live Breakfast: "A lot of Spurs fans are extremely unhappy with the players, the manager, calling out the board, fans are even arguing amongst themselves at the minute over differences of opinions. It’s not that great at the minute.

"You never ever know what you’re going to get with Tottenham. We’re in 10th place in the Premier League.

"I believe Spurs should have done so much more business in the summer transfer window bringing in more experienced players.

"If you want Ange Postecoglou at the helm, taking this rebuild, we need to give him much better players.

“We’ve got so many injuries. That’s the big issue at the moment. Ben Davies went off last night, the hamstring issue. We’re literally down to the bare bones."

Bournemouth supporter Jeff Hayward from the Back of the Net podcast, speaking to BBC 5 Live Breakfast: “It’s the levels that we’ve set this season. We played with real intensity from one to 90. We did it again last night. It was fantastic. I’m thrilled.

“The key to it all is that we’ve got a great coach. The players know what they’re doing. They’re well drilled and we play as a team and you saw that last night.

"No matter who we’re playing against, we play the same way and we get results."

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou says he "didn't like what was being said" by some Spurs supporters after their defeat by Bournemouth - but that "you've got to cop it".

In the immediate aftermath of their 1-0 loss at Vitality Stadium, Postecoglou pointed at a group of Tottenham fans who were voicing their anger and marched across the pitch towards the away end to confront them.

Words were exchanged before a steward attempted to defuse the situation by waving the 59-year-old Australian away.

"They're disappointed and rightly so," said Postecoglou in his post-match news conference. "They gave me some direct feedback, which I've taken on board.

"I didn't like what was being said because I'm a human being but you've got to cop it.

"I've been around long enough to know that when things don't go well you've got to understand the frustration and disappointment. And they're rightly disappointed because we let a game of football get away from us. But that's OK. I'm OK with all that.

"All I can say is I'm really disappointed and I'm determined to get it right and will keep fighting until we do."

    FT: Fulham 3-1 Brighton

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport

Brighton suffered only their third Premier League defeat of the season as two goals from Alex Iwobi, along with an own goal from the unfortunate Matt O'Riley, helped Fulham to victory at a wet and windy Craven Cottage.

The game was played in horrendous conditions of heavy rain and strong winds, but there were no excuses for Bart Verbruggen's early mistake to gift the hosts the lead.

After only three minutes, Brighton's Dutch keeper, looking to play a short pass to team-mate Carlos Baleba inside the penalty area, saw Alex Iwobi intercept and slide the ball into an unguarded net for his fourth league goal of the season.

Brighton grabbed a deserved equaliser 11 minutes into the second half through Baleba, but Fulham retook the lead in fortunate circumstances as Andreas Pereira's 79th-minute corner struck O'Riley and bounced into his own net.

Iwobi then sealed victory with a powerful 87th-minute strike for his second goal of the match.

Defender Dean Huijsen scored the only goal as Bournemouth beat Tottenham to climb above them in the Premier League table.

The 19-year-old was left unmarked at the back post to head home Marcus Tavernier's inswinging corner on 17 minutes.

Huijsen's goal extended Spurs' poor record of dealing with set-pieces, and prompted manager Ange Postecoglou to shake his head ruefully on the touchline.

Postecoglou's side had started well, with Dominic Solanke prominent as he returned to the Vitality Stadium following his £65m summer move.

But the north Londoners gave away more chances than they created in the closing stages, and Evanilson had a goal ruled out for offside.

No wonder Sporting were quite keen to keep Ruben Amorim until the end of the season.

When Amorim left the club for Manchester United following a comeback victory against Braga, Sporting were clear at the top of the Portuguese league and had won 17 out of 18 games - the other was a credible Champions League draw at PSV Eindhoven.

The post Amorim era started with a 6-0 cup victory over Amarante.

But since then, it has all gone wrong for Amorim's replacement Joao Pereira.

They have lost three games in a row - and last night lost to mid-table Moreirense.

Amorim has so far won one out of his first three Premier League games as United boss.
