  4. What is being said about the title race?published at 15:53 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December

Liverpool boss Arne Slot after the Newcastle draw: "A great game to watch. This is what we do lately but with the exception of us not winning this game. There were moments in the game where I was happy about it but then at 3-2 up [to draw 3-3] it is a disappointment."

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, on Liverpool dropping points on Wednesday: "I didn't know as I was so happy celebrating in the dressing room [after Arsenal beat Manchester United].

"We got that news, but it is difficult to win this league. It is still very early."

Gunners midfielder Declan Rice: "When you have a blip in the league you get written off. People get carried away. You just need to be around it in February time. Liverpool have dropped points - they're seven away so we will see what happens."

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on if Wednesday's win against Nottingham Forest will prove a turning point: "I don't know. We have to prove it again. It's just one game but it was important to break this run."

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca on his side's form: "We are focused on that [performing] since the start. I think that the results, for sure, helps a lot - calms down a little bit of noise around the club.

"It's a good feeling, especially to see the fans happy because after the last two years, you know better than me, many things happened. The feeling from them now is good and it is a good feeling also for us."

  5. Who has the toughest December run?published at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December

Liverpool's next match is the unpredictability of a Merseyside derby, while they also face Tottenham on 22 December - with both those games away.

Chelsea also have a trip to London rivals Spurs, but after that the highest-placed team they face is Brentford, currently ninth.

All Arsenal's opponents are currently in the bottom half of the table, whereas Manchester City have a derby against Manchester United on 15 December and must also go to Aston Villa.

Brighton, who play on Thursday night and could go fourth with a win, only have two home games in the rest of December - against Crystal Palace and Brentford.

  6. The title race twists againpublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December

Historically, Liverpool were already in a title-winning position before a ball was kicked on Wednesday.

After beating Manchester City on Sunday they were nine points clear of second place after 13 league games.

Only two teams in Premier League history have had a lead of at least nine points after the same number of matches - Manchester United in 1993-94 and Chelsea in 2005-06 - and both went on to win the title.

Despite that, many were still urging caution in the battle at the top - including Reds boss Arne Slot.

The Dutchman said before the Newcastle game that 19 matches would be a better barometer of how the title battle is shaping up, an opinion that will have only been galvanised after the 3-3 draw.

City's loss to Liverpool left them 11 points adrift of the Reds but that has been cut to nine, and history suggests they are more than capable of overturning such a deficit.

In 2018-19, they trailed Liverpool by 10 points after a poor run of form in December but then won 18 of their 19 matches from the 30th of that month to go on and clinch the title.

  7. Bournemouth v Tottenham predictionpublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December

    Bournemouth v Tottenham (20:15 GMT)

Good luck to anyone trying to predict this one. The only thing I am sure about is that there will be a lot of goals.

Wolves went toe to toe with Bournemouth on Saturday and the Cherries created chance after chance.

Tottenham will go toe to toe with the Cherries too, and there are going to be a lot of opportunities at both ends.

I don't want to go for another draw this week, and I think Bournemouth are more likely to edge it... but rather than trying to pick a winner I am going to say they will share the points.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-2

  8. Head-to-head recordpublished at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December

    Bournemouth v Tottenham (20:15 GMT)

    • Bournemouth have won just two of their 14 Premier League fixtures with Tottenham, drawing two and losing 10.
    • The Cherries lost both meetings last season: 2-0 at home and then 3-1 away.
    • Spurs average 2.5 goals per game in the Premier League against Bournemouth, scoring 35 goals in 14 encounters.
  9. Spurs team newspublished at 15:39 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December

    Bournemouth v Tottenham (20:15 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou was asked about team news at his press conference. He said Archie Gray "has recovered well" after picking up a knock, while former Cherries striker Dominic Solanke is set to return to training today but "is still not 100%" fit.

Meanwhile, centre-back Cristian Romero is "due to have his last couple of sessions" of rehab and then will be back in training "at the latest early next week."

And on "speculation" around the fitness of Mikey Moore, he said: "I come out here and I want to be as transparent as I can, but this is a 17-year-old boy. It's nothing serious. It's nothing long term. He's a big part of this football club and we will protect him and we'll be guided by how he feels. He'll be back."

  10. Is Angeball working?published at 15:36 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December

    Bournemouth v Tottenham (20:15 GMT)

    Ange PostecoglouImage source, Getty Images

Fan writer Ali Speechly has said about Tottenham boss Ange Postecogou's style of play: "Is it possible to trust the process too much? As we all know by now, Ange Postecoglou is very clear about the style of football he wants his team to play and is adamant that they will play this way no matter what.

"When it works, it can be spectacular. Expansive, thrilling, high-scoring – football at its most entertaining. However, with any reward worth having, there is usually a risk involved.

"In the case of Angeball, this manifests as performances that are at best frustrating, at worst infuriating, and invariably ultimately disappointing – football at its most unsatisfying.

"I fear that Ange’s stubbornness might get the better of him before too long – if it has not done so already. Granted, Spurs fans love watching this style of play when it works, but many are growing increasingly tired of watching us struggle against teams we should arguably be beating."

  11. Bournemouth team newspublished at 15:34 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December

    Bournemouth v Tottenham (20:15 GMT)

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola was asked about team news in his press conference. He said there are no new injury concerns: "I think it's going to be very similar to the squad we had [against Wolves]. We have recovered Antoine [Semenyo] from suspension. I hope they can all play."

He added that Lewis Cook is going to train before the match, but does not want to "rush" his inclusion into the side.

  12. Solanke may face former clubpublished at 15:31 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December

    Bournemouth v Tottenham (20:15 GMT)

Unsurprisingly, Dominic Solanke - who isn't 100% fit and so may not feature - was one of the topics of Andoni Iraola's latest news conference before Bournemouth host Tottenham on Thursday.

The England international spent five years on the south coast before joining the Lilywhites in the summer, and Iraola was asked about the process of replacing him.

"We wished in that moment that it didn't happen, but all summer the club was working in case someone came with the money [for Solanke] and the transfer happened," Iraola said.

  13. Fulham v Brighton predictionpublished at 15:29 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December

    Fulham v Brighton (19:30 GMT)

    Sutton banner

Fulham were excellent against Tottenham on Sunday and their boss Marco Silva is probably still scratching his head about how they lost so heavily to Wolves the last time they were at Craven Cottage.

Regular readers will know I usually go with Fulham to win at home but I am not sure this time, because of how good Brighton have been so far.

There are reasons to back either side here, so I am going to split the difference and go with a draw.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-1

  14. 'Brighton could still be in the top four in January'published at 15:27 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December

    Fulham v Brighton (19:30 GMT)

Brighton supporter Charlie Haffenden thinks the Seagulls are "definitely in contention" for a top eight finish in this season's Premier League.

You can hear more about why he believes Brighton can make a run for Europe below.

    Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva spoke about team news in his press conference and said centre-back Joachim Andersen and midfielder Harrison Reed remain out but Silva has no other injury concerns.

Tom Cairney and Sasa Lukic are suspended but Andreas Pereira is available.

Silva was also asked about potential incomings during the January transfer window and he said: "All managers and clubs want the same; to step forward and improve if you can. I'm no different. Someone coming to our football club has to be someone who can have an impact. If we can improve something, we will do our best. Of course it has to be right with our budget and the moment of the season."

  16. Did you know?published at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December

    Fulham v Brighton (19:30 GMT)

Fulham are unbeaten in all eight of their Premier League games against Brighton (winning four, drawing four).

It is the joint-most they have faced a side without ever losing (along with Norwich) and the most the Seagulls have faced a side without ever winning in the competition.

Senior West Ham officials have been considering Lopetegui’s future in the wake of Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat at Leicester.

It is recognised the Leicester loss and the home defeat by Arsenal immediately before it have stripped away the optimism generated by victory at Newcastle on 25 November and a lot of fans want a change.

However, it has been decided to keep faith Lopetegui for the visit of a Wolves side whose own manager Gary O’Neil is under huge pressure following last night’s defeat at Everton.

Some allowance has been given to the fact Lopetegui’s side played well for long periods at Leicester but failed to take their chances and conceded goals too easily.

Former Brighton and Chelsea boss Graham Potter has been linked with West Ham but for now, there is no vacancy.

Nevertheless, Lopetegui knows he needs to start delivering results quickly. After Wolves, West Ham play Bournemouth, Brighton and Southampton, followed by encounters with Liverpool and Manchester City.

  18. 'Difficult' to predict Unitedpublished at 15:17 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December

Man Utd v Nott'm Forest (Sat, 17:30 GMT)

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo on Ruben Amorim and Manchester United: "Difficult to predict because Ruben is changing a lot, he's trying to know the players better, you can see by the formations that has been changing. So I think the idea is there, we don't know exactly who is going to play but for sure quality and talented players."

  19. 'Still assessing' playerspublished at 15:14 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December

Man Utd v Nott'm Forest (Sat, 17:30 GMT)

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo on injury updates: "We're still assessing, it was just a couple of hours ago, so still assessing the players."

On playing three matches in a week: "It's a big ask, going two times to Manchester in such a short period but we are ready, lets recover well, prepare tomorrow and fight for the game, compete well."

It had been reported that West Ham were going to make a decision on Lopetegui's future this week.

He's been under huge pressure after Tuesday's 3-1 defeat at Leicester.

The former Spain and Real Madrid coach was brought in as a successor to David Moyes in the summer but results haven't gone to plan so far.

West Ham are currently 14th, six points above the bottom three.

On Monday, they face Wolves whose manager Gary O'Neil is also under increasing pressure.
