    Liverpool 2-0 Everton

Ndiaye does exceptionally well out wide and it's a lovely ball into the area. Beto is just slightly ahead of it, that's the problem.

    Liverpool 2-0 Everton

That could have been costly. Alisson plays the ball straight to Iliman Ndiaye, who then quickly drives down the right wing before whipping the ball straight into the path of Beto.

The striker gets there on the stretch, skewing it over the crossbar.

    Liverpool 2-0 Everton

Jake O'Brien lifts the ball into the box for Beto, but there's too much pace on it and Alisson collects comfortably.

The dreaded 2-0 lead for Liverpool. Better score a third soon or we all know what will happen and I'm a Liverpool fan.

Arne Slot will be keen for his side to capitalise on this two-goal lead.

He won't want another nervy watch after Wednesday's late win against Atletico Madrid.

You know, I'm really liking Ekitike. I personally think we should've used Nunez as a winger and I miss Darwin's excitement. But it's great we've now got another player who can finish reliably. But I'm also happy that we don't just rely on a 9 to score.

  7. 'Ekitike getting better and better'published at 13:01 BST

    Liverpool 2-0 Everton

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool and Aston Villa defender on BBC Radio 5 Live at Anfield

Hugo Ekitike is just getting better and better.

When he gets on the ball, he is a danger and he has been so impressive in his short time at Liverpool.

It's a really smart finish, quick touch and he passes it into the bottom corner.

Jordan Pickford doesn't stand a chance of getting anywhere near it and Liverpool look very comfortable.

  8. 'Another great Liverpool goal'published at 13:01 BST

    Liverpool 2-0 Everton

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker on TNT Sports

It is a great goal. The pass from Gravenberch, weighted it perfectly and the finish from Ekitike through the keeper's legs. It's a great, low finish. Another great Liverpool goal.

GOAL - Liverpool 2-0 Evertonpublished at 28 mins

    Hugo Ekitike

Hugo Ekitike takes a bow in front of the Liverpool fans.

A fine, slotted finish after receiving Ryan Gravenberch's pass on the half-turn to double the Reds lead.

That's the Frenchman's third Premier League goal this season.

  10. 'Brilliant move'published at 12:58 BST

    Liverpool 1-0 Everton

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker on TNT Sports

Terrific play from Grealish and normally Dewsbury-Hall goes for the far side of the goal across the keeper, but he tries to clip it into the near side top corner. Brilliant move.

Terry, Hvar: Like Dan (12:39), sat in the sun in Hvar....couldn't connect and then did....wish I hadn't bothered...come on Everton, dont spoil this holiday

  12. CLOSE!published at 12:58 BST

    Liverpool 1-0 Everton

Jack Grealish turns brilliantly to get away from Ryan Gravenberch and then plays a sneaky ball in behind for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who slams it over the bar.

    A big chance that.

With Liverpool this season and their leaky defence you have got to think they have to take advantage of this fast start and score a couple more.

  14. 'Not the easiest one for Gakpo'published at 12:56 BST

    Liverpool 1-0 Everton

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker on TNT Sports

It's not the easiest one to take for Gakpo, but he didn't meet it at all well. There is no one putting him under pressure either. That is a big, big chance.

  15. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 Everton

    Groans around Anfield.

Liverpool break forward rapidly and the chance pops up for Cody Gakpo but he volleys the ball into the ground and it bounces over the Everton goal. That was a decent chance there for Liverpool to double their lead.

  16. Postpublished at 12:55 BST

    Liverpool 1-0 Everton

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker on TNT Sports

I'm going to be slightly critical. I think there is too much on the pass from Gueye to Beto. That was a chance for Everton.

  17. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 Everton

Idrissa Gueye fizzes a ball in behind for Beto run onto, but Ibrahima Konate gets there first and drives the ball out for a corner.

It comes to nothing for the Toffees.

Scoring goals and taking the lead is not a problem for this Liverpool side, holding on to it is.

    Brendan, Jersey

  19. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 Everton

Alexis Mac Allister has a go, then Conor Bradley. Both shots are blocked.

Liverpool are giving Everton absolutely no breathing space here.

Is there a more improved player in world football than Ryan Gravernberch over the last 18 months?
