There's always so much talk before every season about clamping down on time-wasting, yet invariably referees delay restarts far more often than players do. Booking someone for taking a free-kick when everyone else was ready is just insane, yet the worst thing is I'm not even surprised anymore.

  11. Postpublished at 83 mins

    Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Good goalkeeping from Jordan Pickford as he rushes off his line and gets to the ball before Mohamed Salah can get a shot away.

  12. Postpublished at 82 mins

    Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Florian Wirtz is the next name to go in the book after stopping Iliman Ndiaye from starting a counter-attack.

    Liverpool are struggling here.

  13. Postpublished at 80 mins

    Liverpool 2-1 Everton

James Garner guides the free-kick to the back post but it fizzes the whole way through and out for a goal-kick.

Just 10 minutes of normal time remaining for Everton to grab an equaliser.

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:06 BST

    Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Another foul by Conor Bradley on Jack Grealish and this time the Northern Irishman goes in the book.

A free-kick in a dangerous area for the Toffees.

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 78 mins

    Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been booked - apparently for taking the free-kick before the whistle had gone.

David Moyes looks furious with that decision.

  16. Postpublished at 77 mins

    Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Vitalii Mykolenko holds up a hand in apology after directing the ball out for a corner despite there being no Liverpool attackers near.

The corner comes to nothing as Milos Kerkez is judged to have fouled James Tarkowski.

  17. Postpublished at 75 mins

    Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Dominik Szoboszlai steps up for a free-kick. We all know what he can do from those dead-ball situations, but this time he fires over.

This isn't a Slot thing, this goes back to the Klopp days. We go 2-0 up and have no idea what to do, could not tell you what our mentality has been since that second goal, bizarre.

    That was going in.

  20. Postpublished at 72 mins

That probably should have been a third for Liverpool, but James Tarkowski comes to the rescue to stop Florian Wirtz from slotting in after a blistering counter attack.
