Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin: "I think in the first half we were on the back foot a little bit. Shakhtar are a good team and in the second half we were not happy with how they scored the goals.

"We scored two goals against them and when you do that you have to be more stable to get a point or win the game. We have to learn from this now.

"The positive thing was we were connecting with the fans, showing some desire, passion, and personality on the pitch and fighting for Aberdeen football club.

"We have to build on this now and learn from this. We always have to go out on the pitch to show how hard we are fighting for them.

"We did that today, the fans pushed the players to the last minute. We have to have that mentality every game. Now we will see the strength of character we have as a team in another important game on Sunday.

"Of course we are disappointed to lose the game but proud of how the players pushed to the last minute and tried to get an equaliser.

"When we release the handbrake and start playing then everybody grows. We have to stay at this level of performance that we ended the game with.

"We have to believe in ourselves and show the fans they can believe in us."

  6. 'Not a handball' - Iheanachopublished at 22:49 BST 2 October

    FT: Celtic 0-2 Braga

Celtic striker Kelechi Iheanacho insists he didn't handle the ball for his disallowed goal against Braga.

"For me that wasn't a handball, the defender saw it wasn't a handball," he told TNT Sports.

"I don't know what is going on, what they're checking. I was asking the ref what was going on and he said they were checking. He told me it was a handball."

Rodgers vows to end Celtic's goalscoring troubles

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was speaking at his post-match press conference and said Kelechi Iheanacho's disallowed equaliser against Braga should have stood.

"I can't understand why the referee isn't asked to go and have a look at that," the boss said.

"If you look at it once, twice, I'm assuming the people in the VAR room have looked at it more than that, there's absolutely no way, whatever way you look at it, [Iheanacho] has touched it.

"That's a huge moment in the game. It was a big moment in the game. We started the half well and we continued to push."

  8. 'Rangers a danger to themselves'published at 22:43 BST 2 October

    FT: Sturm Graz 2-1 Rangers

    James McFadden
Former Scotland forward on BBC Sportsound

Rangers look a danger to themselves at times when they have the ball. The goals they concede, and have conceded, have been really poor.

Every goal is avoidable. It's frustrating to watch.

  9. Busy night for Graz goaliepublished at 22:40 BST 2 October

Oliver Christensen made 10 saves in the Sturm Graz goal.

That's the first time a goalkeeper has made at least 10 saves in a match in the Europa League since Heorhii Bushchan for Dynamo Kyiv against Real Sociedad in December 2024 (11 saves).

  12. 'Not a tactical problem' - Martinpublished at 22:32 BST 2 October

    FT: Sturm Graz 2-1 Rangers

Rangers head coach Russell Martin tells TNT Sports: "You can't start that poorly. We had loads of chances in the first half but they had too many. The mentality is the problem.

"We are not doing what we should do in set plays, in our throw-ins, so that's a mentality issue. We had loads of chances in the first half, we were so dominant in the second.

"We should score more goals. You come away in Europe and have that many big chances in front of goal, you can't lose the game.

"We have a lot of young men that will have to learn really quickly. We have to improve the mentality quickly, it's not a tactical problem.

"It's an interesting time [to be Rangers manager], it's a frustrating time because we show signs of so much growth and improvement.

"We came away from home and had so many chances, so it's frustrating to lose the game. It's all about Sunday now."

  15. Are things turning at Aberdeen?published at 22:25 BST 2 October

    FT: Aberdeen 2-3 Shakhtar Donetsk

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen defender on BBC Sportsound

You felt when it went to 3-1 Aberdeen decided they had nothing to lose although at that point you are a bit nervous it could get embarrassing.

All of a sudden they opened up, the whole game was turned on its head.

It tells you so much when the fans stay back and applaud a team that has shown a bit of guts and determination and some good play to get themselves back into the game.

You can see that things are beginning to turn around.

  17. 'Rangers architects of own downfall'published at 22:20 BST 2 October

    FT: Sturm Graz 2-1 Rangers

    James McFadden
Former Scotland forward on BBC Sportsound

First half was disappointing, Rangers were the architects of their own downfall going behind.

They were far better in the second half, but why do you wait until it looks like the game is gone to make changes?

The players look like the shackles are off when they change formation.

    FT: Sturm Graz 2-1 Rangers

Rangers defender Derek Cornelius tells TNT Sports: "We didn't start well. We were naive and found ourselves down at 2-0 then we were chasing the game.

"We didn't start well, I don't know what the problem is. It seems like there's moments where everyone is switched on and tuned in and then it can switch, I don't know why.

"We can't be accepting of that. We can't be like this. We need to react."
