Arsenal will not win the league until they replace Arteta. A good manager, but not a great one.

  3. 'Hopefully we start to be more clinical'published at 13:55 British Summer Time 20 April

    Fulham v Chelsea (14:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca speaking to BBC Sport about bidding to end his side's eight-game winless run on the road in the Premier League:

"For sure, away, it is a bad run and if we want to reach our target, we need some wins away. We have played more than one game that we deserved to win [during that run] but we didn't win - Palace, Brentford, for me many games. But it is important to create chances and hopefully we can start to be more clinical.

"There are six Premier League games to go and all of them are important - they are games we have to try to win and hopefully we can reach our target."

On losing the reverse fixture 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in December: "I still remember the game and I watched it back in the last two or three days - in the last 15-20 minutes we conceded [territory] too much but for 70 minutes we were in control, scored a goal, created chances.

"But this is a different game and hopefully we can win today."

  5. 'We have to focus on Premier League now'published at 13:53 British Summer Time 20 April

    Ipswich v Arsenal (14:00 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta speaking before facing Ipswich Town on squad rotation: "It's all for different reasons. Some players could not start again because we have only had few days after the Real Madrid game and these players fit well with the game that we expect today.

"We have analysed everything with the medical department and related to what we need to win the game against Ipswich."

On the importance of upcoming league games: "Very important. Now we have to focus on the Premier League. We need to show the consistency, determination and quality to come here and win the game. The performances were there before, but some results slipped away from us. But that's the Premier League and I know this is also going to be a tough game."

On Ipswich: "I think they are very consistent in the way they play and I know how they have made it difficult for their opponents. They are vey well organised and very well coached."

    Frank Sinclair
Former Chelsea defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

With the way the season started it was so promising for Chelsea.

It would be a disaster if they didn't finish in the top four - that's always been the target. At the beginning of the season you would have said Chelsea were real genuine challengers.

I disagree with Matt Upson, and I don’t support Ipswich. I think it’s been a really positive two years for the club and with parachute payments and the sale of Delap, who has improved at Portman Road, they can develop the whole squad under one of the best young managers in the game. They’ll be back soon and stronger for this season.

  8. 'Arsenal's poor game management the difference'published at 13:48 British Summer Time 20 April

    Ipswich v Arsenal (14:00 BST)

    Julien Laurens
European football expert on BBC Radio 5 Live

Arsenal took the lead 25 times in the Premier League this season and won 17 of them. So there are those eight draws and that's 16 points they've lost from winning positions.

That's the difference. I don't think the difference is the lack of goals, Kai Havertz not doing well or signing Alexander Isak or whoever you want.

It's the game management in matches where you were in charge and you were in control, including the one against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium, where they were by far the better side but ended up drawing 2-2.

Those eight games were you are winning and end up drawing, that is the difference [in the title race with Liverpool].

  9. Chance for Fulham to make historypublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 20 April

This is the 40th season in which Fulham and Chelsea have met in the league and in that time the Craven Cottage club have never done the double over their local rivals.

After their dramatic 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day, they have a chance to right that wrong this afternoon.

But given Chelsea have won five of their past six Premier League games at the Cottage, Fulham fans would be forgiven for not getting too excited about that prospect just yet.

Arsenal are an excellent side and I agree with those who think that the 13-point gap is a little false. They've been unfortunate with the fixture list and injuries, but in recent seasons both of those things went their way and they didn't take advantage. Slot has been given nowhere near enough credit for this season. It's his first in English football and we're talking about potentially the earliest title win second only to Klopp's 2019-20 side, who won 26 of the first 27 games and were the best I've ever seen. This is Arteta's fifth full season at Arsenal and he's never passed the 90 point mark.

Man Utd v Wolves (14:00 BST)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter at Old Trafford

We all know Ruben Amorim's defensive formation relies on three ball-playing central defenders, with energetic wing-backs either side.

In the warn-up drills in front of me, Tyler Fredricson is being used on left of the three, with skipper Victor Lindelof in the middle. Harry Amass is at left wing-back.

It will be fascinating to see how the Amass-Fredricson combination works in a Premier League game.

    This is a huge challenge.

No way Chelsea get anything today. They don’t merit Champions League football and they will not finish in the top five. Liverpool, Arsenal, City, Newcastle and Villa will be the Premier League clubs in the best club competition next season. Real Betis will also beat Chelsea in the final of the Conference League!

  13. 'It's looming, it's negative'published at 13:39 British Summer Time 20 April

    Ipswich v Arsenal (14:00 BST)

    Matt Upson
Former Arsenal defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

    On Ipswich Town's relegation battle...

What comes across [when fighting relegation] is that it is a horrible time in your career. It's looming. It's negative.

Rising above that, giving your best by shutting off what is happening, turn up on the matchday and put up a performance that is worthy of what you can do - if you can do that and you give your best, it's a win.

Every club that go through that, there's something underlying that is wrong and you feel it grow. You don't get over it - be it the players or the coaching staff.

But players can ultimately control their own performance level. That's the bit you have to focus and that is the hard thing. Perhaps if you can do that, it can have a knock-on effect.

While Manchester United dramatically secured their place in the Europa League semi-finals late on Thursday night, there has been less to shout about in their league campaign.

The Red Devils are 14th in the league and have lost 14 games this season, equalling their total from last season; last losing more league games in 1989-90 (16).

On 38 points and with six games to go, they are guaranteed their lowest points total in the Premier League era even if they end the season on a six game winning run, with 58 in 2021-22 their current lowest.

Everyone bangs on about Reece James, but he can't string games together so we don't know if he has the capacity to play consistently at the top level. Despite that, he's continuously lorded as England's right-back. To be a top player you need to face adversity like Trent Alexander-Arnold has; once he has and when he becomes a player constantly under the media's glare, we can consider him a great player.

  16. 'Rice becoming well-rounded'published at 13:35 British Summer Time 20 April

    Ipswich v Arsenal (14:00 BST)

    Matt Upson
Former Arsenal defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

I don't think there's anything that Declan Rice can't do in that area. He's becoming so well-rounded.

He is adding all these things to his game and it is starting to make him world-class and Arsenal are benefitting from it.

  17. Rice at '6' as Arsenal look to Champions Leaguepublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 20 April

    Ipswich v Arsenal (14:00 BST)

    Alex Howell
BBC football news reporter at Portman Road

Mikel Arteta's team selection today could be partly down to the fact that Arsenal are going to be without midfielder Thomas Partey for the Champions League semi-final games with PSG.

The midfielder is going to miss the first leg through suspension, so Arteta needs to look for an answer for who is going to play in the number 6 role in those huge matches.

Declan Rice has excelled in the number eight role and won player of the match in both of the wins over Madrid but is probably the best suited to take on that role, as it is one he has done throughout his career.

Jorginho probably would have played today but he picked up an injury in the draw with Brentford.

  18. Remembering Joe Thompsonpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 20 April

Man Utd v Wolves (14:00 BST)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter at Old Trafford

There is an air of sadness around Manchester United today as the club comes to terms with the passing of Joe Thompson, whose death was announced by his family on Friday.

Thompson was a former Manchester United academy player and while his professional career took him away from Old Trafford, he returned post retirement and was a familiar face around the club, where he worked with the Foundation and did other media work.

He also played in the annual media game - where he put a lot of media to shame with his performances.

Thompson was only 36 and leaves behind a wife and two young children.

  19. Fulham to beat Blues again?published at 13:29 British Summer Time 20 April

    Fulham v Chelsea (14:00 BST)

    .

There is something not right at Chelsea.

They drew at home to Ipswich last week, for example. I laughed when I saw my guest, Yizzy, had put the Tractor Boys down to get a point but that ended up being the result that killed me.

From what boss Enzo Maresca has said since then, by asking the fans to trust him and saying the players are affected by the crowd, everyone seems to be feeling the pressure.

He was questioning the fans, but also his players' temperament. If you think about how many millions have been spent on that squad, then if they don't have the strength of character to play the way their manager wants, then heaven help them in the long run.

This is probably going to be another score draw but I seem to get Fulham wrong whatever I say.

They deserved to get something from their defeat at Bournemouth on Monday, and I am going with them to get a repeat of their win at Stamford Bridge in December.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-1
