There shouldn't be any kids following, it's not the school holidays.

But given maths teacher Stephen messaged us during first period, I know there's at least one class where the teacher won't notice - or even mind - if a student is on their phone and on the BBC Sport app.

At St John's College Southsea we played on pitches at Farlington Marshes, at one point considered by Pompey for a new ground. As the name suggests, they were subject to flooding at times. I recall receiving a straight red for tripping my opposing winger, just so I could see him dive into an enormous puddle. Worth it.

Arsenal are set to open formal talks with Bukayo Saka over a new contract as the forward enters the final two years of his current deal.

Saka has been unavailable since December after sustaining a serious hamstring tear in the victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park - an injury that eventually required surgery.

But his importance to Mikel Arteta's team remains unquestioned with the club preparing to meet the player's representatives over a contract extension.

Arsenal want to avoid any uncertainty regarding their star player's future and will make securing Saka to a longer contract one of their top priorities.

The 23-year-old England international signed his current contract - understood to be worth a minimum of £10m per season - in 2022.

This is a bit of a stretch but it’s so wet for most of the year in Queenstown on Tasmania's west, coast that the Queenstown Crows play AFL football on gravel, not grass. It’s notorious and not for the faint-hearted!

    Mark, Buderim, QLD

Not football but I remember a cricket pitch in the Rutland League which was so undulating that the fielders on the square had to warn you of a ball coming your way on the boundary rope. It could be a very lonely game and very funny if you didn’t warn your team mate.

    Stu from Belgium.

I played rugby in the Netherlands growing up and RugbyClub the Dukes in 's-Hertogenbosch had a very intimidating brick wall running very close to one of the touchlines

Not football, but I once played hockey on a grass pitch in Dinnington that had a slope that passed as a small hill, more glass than grass, a fairly large amount of dog "mess" and a burnt out Ford Escort in one corner.

Steel toe cap boots, you say?

Worst pitch has to be the granite boulder strewn quarry floor used by Camborne School of Mines students for lunchtime games during their underground induction week in the 1980s. Did I mention the pitch was L-shaped, just to add to the challenge? And we were wearing steel toe capped boots? Fond memories!

Since childhood Lucy Bronze has struggled to sleep, something a sleep expert suggested could be remedied by writing in a journal before bed.

"I'd end up writing a book then," Bronze says with a smile. "My brain is like 100mph, even when laying in bed."

Bronze struggles to make eye contact with people during conversation, while her habit of touching her hair during games has been noticed by team-mates and fans alike.

"People think 'she's always messing about', but that's just me calming myself down without even realising it," reflects Bronze.

It was during a Lionesses training camp that Bronze learned she had ADHD and autism.

"It didn't change anything essentially, but it was a bit of an eye-opener," Bronze says.

"Getting to sit down and actually speak through my traits and how it affects me, situations that make me feel good or bad, that was the thing that really clicked in my head and made me feel so much better."

We play on a pitch up in Exmoor. Completely wonky and one corner slopes up above the goal. Nightmare to take a corner as you have to hit it flat or even down. Luckily they were always rubbish.

  11. Having autism worked to my advantage in football - Bronzepublished at 12:23 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March

    Alex Brotherton
    BBC Sport journalist

When Lucy Bronze was growing up, the England international, who has won almost every accolade in women's football, attempted to copy her team-mates' behaviour in order to fit in.

A Euro 2022 winner and 2023 World Cup runner-up with England, the 33-year-old is an inspiration to millions of young players and fans. But stats and honours aren't the only things that make a person.

Her mum had long suspected she may be autistic, but it wasn't until four years ago that Bronze was officially diagnosed as having autism,, external and ADHD, external (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).

Speaking exclusively to BBC Sport before Neurodiversity Celebration Week, Bronze opened up for the first time about her diagnoses and the impact they have on her life on and off the pitch.

Worst football pitch. The School in Adyar, Chennai. Had a coconut tree right 3 feet inside by the goalposts. As a visiting goalkeeper, it could serve as an additional defender or knock you out cold.

    Anita Asante
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

On the Women's League Cup final pitch, played at Pride Park...

The pitch to me looked sandy, falling away from under players feet - they couldn't get to grips with that.

I likened it to something I had seen when you watch retro games from the 80s and the 90s.

I concur with Mark from Fife. After a tour of Scotland with the school in 1981 we were all in pieces after playing on those red pitches. Took an absolute hammering everywhere we played, terrified to tackle. Took 3 months to replace the skin on my knees. Oucha.
